7 Professional Clothing Items Every Career Woman Must Have - Fashion Cents

03:41
http://www.FashionCents.tv Article "7 Professional Clothing Items Every Professional Woman Must Have in Her Wardrobe" http://goo.gl/dRljRP Get the 7 must have wardrobe items that will keep you polished in the office. Just starting out in the workplace? A veteran? We have budget conscious tips to help you look polished and professional without spending a fortune no matter where you are in your career. 1. The Little Black Dress -- choose a black dress that can be either professional with a blazer or cardigan that will transform to after 5 by removing the blazer or cardigan. Make sure the dress is appropriate for the office environment. If necessary, add jewelry or accessories for the after 5 look. 2. The Classic Suit -- No matter how casual the office environment is the classic business suit is a must. Perfect for meetings, presentations, and events, you will look polished and professional and commanding. Alter your look with a variety of blouses and tops. 3. Versatile Tops -- Make sure your tops are versatile and professional. Change your basics by rotating a selection of tops to create the impression that you have more outfits than you do. 4. Versatile Bottoms -- If chosen correctly, your basic wardrobe can be mixed and matched to make it appear as if you have a much greater wardrobe than you do. If your budget is small choose the following skirts or slacks to give you that mix and match option. a. Black -- a classic color that always presents as professional. Mix it with one of your professional looking tops and you have a timeless look for most office activity. b. Navy -- Crisp and professional, navy provides a dynamite mix with white. Navy and white combination gives a professional, in-charge look every time. Other colors to pair navy with are cream, red, yellow and certain shades of green. c. Grey --Grey can really pop when coupled with a classic, professional white top. Grey is versatile and pairs beautifully with many colors on the spectrum. 5. A Third Layer -- By creating a 3rd layer, a blazer or cardigan, you are creating a polished look. Choose your colors based on your mix and match collection. Introduce some color or stay with the basics, either way, a third layer will enhance your professional office look. 6. Shoes -- When your budget is limited there is one basic pair of shoes that you must have for professional wear; a pair of black pumps. Choose wisely when selecting these shoes. They should be professional looking, at a reasonable height, classic in design, and comfortable. If you select the right shoe your feet will take you through the day in comfort as well as in a stylish and professional look. 7. A Great Bag -- One good bag big enough to hold your laptop, lunch and personal items will give you a professional look. Using separate bags for all your items looks clunky and awkward. The bag shouldn't be too big, but big enough to hold everything. If you add these 7 basic items to your wardrobe, you will be ready to put forward a professional and polished look every day. It just makes sense. What to wear to an interview for women: Top 3 Tips - Part 1 of 5

04:09
http://www.FashionCents.tv The 3 Questions to Ask Yourself When Getting Dressed for an Interview. Part 1 in the 5-Part Series "What To Wear To An Interview". A human resources person once said "The best an employer ever expects it's employees to look, is at the INTERVIEW!" Hence the first two assumptions are that you have to look your best and you must wear a suit. Professional Image Consultant, Kim Turner, has three questions for you to ask yourself that will help you know what to wear and what to avoid wearing on an interview. 1) Does this make me look old? Your wardrobe should be as up to date as your resume. 2) Is this distracting? Lean towards modesty. Avoid anything tight, flashy, or revealing. 3) Does this show I know the company? Find out what the people in the industry wear. Should your suit be conservative or creative? Prepare your interview clothing as you prepare your resume! Next in this 5-part series is "What to wear to a traditional interview". http://goo.gl/Fv5qQV The entire 5 part video series can be seen in our interview playlist - http://goo.gl/8XY2l5 To hear Kim Turner's professional image consulting fashion tips watch the video, read the article "3 Questions to Ask Yourself When Getting Dressed for an Interview" at http://goo.gl/iFzZ2C. 3 tips for what to wear to a golf tournament - Fashion Cents

01:53
http://www.fashioncents.tv If you are going to the U.S. Open, the Masters or a local golf tournament you might be wondering what to wear to watch golf. This video provides three fashion tips for female golf spectators. You can be fashionable but keep in mind that it's a sporting event, country clubs have dress codes, you're going to be walking a lot and it's most likely going to be hot. What Women Spectators Should Wear to a Golf Tournament Unlike other sporting events, "watching" golf is not a sedentary spectator sport, to make sure your clothes are comfortable, fashionable and sporty consider these 3 tips: 1- Sneak it In - Comfortable shoes are recommended. There is a lot of walking when you are watching golf, think of comfort and consider sneakers. 2- Keep it Lite - Golf tournaments are usually in the summer when it's hot. The golf pros all wear cotton for a reason, consider wearing an all cotton polo shirt to be cool. 3- Skirt the Skirt - If you've ever seen a golf course, there are lots of hills. As a spectator you will be walking up and down those hills so you might not want to wear a skirt or dress, consider wearing shorts or capris. Be inspired by golf wear. Some golfers actually have class and style. 3 things to consider before wearing peep toe shoes or boots - Fashion Cents

02:38
This video covers the 3 important things to consider before wearing the peep toe or open toe shoe and boot trend. The tips include the importance of getting a pedicure in the winter (plus, my nail technician tells me that pedicures are even more important in the winter time because the air tends to be so dry). It explains that bare legs aren't necessary in the winter when wearing this trend -- try textured tights so your toes still show but your legs get covered. And it explains that you can choose your height since this trend comes in every heel height so choosing a shoe or boot that works with your style and that you can walk in are both important.

3 Tips for What to Wear to a Baseball Game - Fashion Cents

01:43
http://www.fashioncents.tv Article "What to wear to the baseball game" at http://goo.gl/VjXcf4 This video gives you 3 tips on what to wear to a MLB baseball game especially if you are sitting in the bleacher seats. It will cover showing team spirit, staying cleaning and being comfortable because you are out with people and this isn't fantasy baseball. No matter what baseball game you are going to attend, there is one common denominator; dressing up is not an option. All baseball games have hazards such as hot dog mustard on the seats, spilled beer and soda and just plain dirt. Dressing accordingly can make your day an absolute success. Do you have to sacrifice looking good? No, your look can be put together, but ready for anything. When choosing your clothing always consider the weather...or, the possibility of weather. The nicest day can suddenly turn into a chilly or rainy day when you least expect it. The following are 3 tips to help make your day a good one. 1. Choose pants you are willing to lose. Not literally, but if you sit in mustard, it might not come out in the wash, so you will lose them. It follows through with the rest of your clothing. Be prepared to lose it if unfortunately you sit or step into "stuff". 2. Team spirit - A hat, t-shirt, or visor is great. Make it comfortable and again, something you are willing to lose if something spills. 3. Choose the right shoes -- Anything goes at a sporting event as far as shoes go. Of course common sense dictates that the time of year and weather should guide you. Wearing flip flops can easily be cleaned. Washable sneakers are good too for those cooler days. EXTRA TIP Think pockets and strapped bags -- You don't want to lug a purse to the game unless it has long straps that you can cross over your shoulder to the other side for no hands use. Large pockets are good to hold the essentials, but you do run the risk of something popping out or worse, someone picking your pocket. Very small back packs are good for sporting events as well, but are not for professional work environments. Whatever you wear, always have a warm sweater or jacket and a rain poncho available to whip out at the first chill wind or rain drop that falls. You will never be sorry you lugged it. It just makes sense. What NOT to Wear to Work: Back Cleavage - Fashion Cents

01:57
http://www.fashioncents.tv Whether they work for conservative companies, retail companies or creative firms many professional women dress appropriately for work; wearing a third layer and not showing cleavage. However sometimes women forget about how they look from behind. If you are not wearing a third layer (more about 3rd layers for work here http://goo.gl/LAEJNQ) and your shirt or blouse dips in the back ... you could be showing back cleavage! Back cleavage is thought of as showing too much of your back. A small scoop is fine. You should not be able to see the muscles in your back. Choose a top or dress that covers up the back. Remember it's important to take the time to look your best for work. If you haven't seen the U.S. Jobs Report lately the numbers haven't improved much. When companies decide to hire or to keep employees it is important to them that their staff represents their company correctly. Make sure you get it right by avoiding things like to much cleavage in the front AND in the back. Back in 2013 I wrote an article about this, you can check it out here - http://goo.gl/rz5sVc. I bring the topic up again, because I have been hearing from human resource professionals that many women are still dressing inappropriately at the office or on an interview! Measure your Clothes at Home for Perfect Online Shopping

02:17
http://www.fashioncents.tv Still trying to figure out how to order clothes on line that will fit? Tired of sending back returns? Here is how to get the right fit every time. Tips that will make your online shopping a joy. 1. In measuring pants size it is important to know your inseam. You will see inseam measurement on most pants that you see online. To measure your inseam simply go to your closet and pick the pair of pants your think is the perfect length. Place your tape measure at the hem and follow up to the crotch area. This is the number that is your inseam. 2. To order the perfect dress length, choose a dress in your closet that is the length you want to have in the dress you are currently ordering. Measure from the hem to the waist. 3. Measuring a skirt is a simple process as well. Find a skirt in the closet that has the length you want and measure from waist to hem. 4. For shirts, repeat the process from above. Take a shirt from your closet that has the perfect length sleeve. Measure from the shoulder to the cuff for the perfect sleeve length on your next shirt. Ordering online doesn't have to be a hassle or a disappointment. By measuring correctly, you will be more likely to receive clothes that fit really well. It just makes Fashion Cents, not to mention saving on time and effort.

Choose Clothes that Fit...if not, Alter! 5 tips to help make your clothes fit right - Fashion Cents

03:21
http://www.fashioncents.tv Don't have the perfect body? Your clothes can still fit beautifully. 5 tips to tell you how to have clothes that look like they are custom made. Do it yourself is great, but when we are talking clothes unless you are a seamstress by trade, don't do it! Remember, Ready to Wear Clothes are not Always Ready to Wear. 1. Pants that are too long. If your pants drag the ground in the back they are definitely too long. Aside from not being a good look, your pants will wear out quickly. The simple solution is to go to a cleaner and get them hemmed. Prices can range from $10 up so check out a few cleaners to get the best price. 2. Pants that are too short -- short pants are not fashionable, so before you buy; a. Check to see if there is a longer version on line. Some clothing manufacturers have longer versions available for purchase online. b. Check the pants to see if the current hem has enough width to be let down. If so, a cleaner can do that for a minimal fee. c. If none of the options are available to you, then just don't buy them. 3. Are your jacket shoulders way off your shoulders? Take your jacket to the cleaners where they can alter the shoulders to sit properly and give you a custom look. 4. Pant or skirt waist too big? Get the waist altered in order to have a flattering custom look 5. Shirt gap? There are two things you can do to rectify the shirt gap; a. Don't buy it b. Have the cleaner put snaps in between the buttons that will close the gap to give a smooth perfect fit. You spend good money on your clothes, so having them fit well will maximize your dollars spent. Invest a few more dollars into altering. You will wear those clothes more often, and will keep wearing them long after ill-fitting clothes have been sent to the clothing donation bin.
