These seven last words hold great meaning to those who wish to ponder his passion and death. These short songs in Filipino are intended to be repeated again and again during the reflection time of each of the seven last words to give it a meditative character. It is our hope that as the words are sung many times over, that the meaning of the passion and death of Christ will penetrate the whole being of those who sing them. This meditative style of singing can help one grow in one's way of listening to God. Much like the short Taize prayers/songs, it allows everyone to take part in a time of prayer together and to remain together in attentive waiting for God, without having to fix the length of time too exactly.

Archbishop of Cebu Jose S. Palma, D.D., President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) clarified in his letter dated October 3, 2012 that in 1976, the CBCP voted to adopt the English ecumenical version of the Lord's Prayer. It is what has been in use since then. However, in 2011, the CBCP approved entirely the new English translation of the Roman Missal in which the text of the Lord's Prayer is the 16th century version. In effect, what is contained in the said new English translation must be followed. Thus, during the 105th CBCP Plenary Assembly in July 2012, the CBCP reaffirmed its decision to use the older text. The text of this version is what is used in this composition.

Diwa, SLL Executive Secretary, Episcopal Commission on Liturgy Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines ------ This is one of the three memorial acclamations for the New Roman Missal written by Tinnah dela Rosa. This song uses a joyful and lively tune especially composed for the Revised Roman Missal. This setting is intended to be sung by the people and not simply the choir. In fact, the capabilities and vocal range of the congregation were considered in composing the music to enhance their ability and desire to participate in singing their praises to God. Choir and piano parts only exist to complement the people's melodic line. Furthermore, this melodic motif also appears in the other two Memorial Acclamations of the Gaudium Mass, making all the three versions easy to recall by the congregation as they try to learn the new text of the mass. Below are the new texts of the new Memorial Acclamations: A — We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again. or B — When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again. or C — Save us, Savior of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection, you have set us free. Help your congregation learn the new songs for the mass! Ensure that you sing this new song for 1-2 months before you move on to a new acclamation. Remember that as music ministers, our task is to aid in the congregational singing rather than take over the singing completely.

Lord, Have Mercy On Us - AILM Chorale

04:56
Composer: Tinnah dela Rosa Conductor: Dr. Francisco Feliciano, Founder of the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music and proclaimed Philippine National Artist for Music in 2014) Choir: AILM Chorale This was the last composition I wrote under Sir Kiko's guidance when I was still a student. This piece has been performed with Sir Kiko as conductor in 2011 during the celebration of the 30th Founding Anniversary of the the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music "[email protected]" Many Nations One Voice Choral Concert at St. Andrew's Theological Seminary, Cathedral Heights, Quezon City. This choral piece recalls that God is a loving God who is constantly extending to us his mercy and salvation. The text is drawn from the Penitential Rite of the holy mass where the presider first invites us to turn to the Lord who is gentle and compassionate. In silence we are then to look within ourselves, to reflect upon those areas of our life that in particular summon us to reconciliation with God and others. The primary focus of the rite is upon God and his gift of mercy, not upon human sinfulness. We confess that the Lord is a merciful Lord.

Diwa, SLL Executive Secretary, Episcopal Commission on Liturgy Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines ------------ The full implementation of this Revised Roman Missal has been in effect in U.S. Catholic Churches since Advent 2011. While many Catholic Churches in the Philippines have already begun the gradual implementation of the new Roman Missal text, its full implementation in certain Philippine dioceses will take effect this Advent 2012. Among the texts that have changed is that of the Apostles' Creed. Although this statement of our faith is usually recited, special occasions and feasts call for this prayer to be sung. Below is the new text of the new revised Apostles' Creed: I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead ; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Copyright 2012 by Tinnah dela Rosa ----- This is one of the three memorial acclamations for the New Roman Missal written by Tinnah dela Rosa.

Diwa, SLL Executive Secretary, Episcopal Commission on Liturgy Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines -------- The new translation uses "it is right and just" to replace "it is right to give Him thanks and praise." The addition of "just" more closely aligns with the Latin original, but more importantly reminds us that as the people who bind ourselves to God, we are correct to give thanks to God who provides all things for us and it is we who are made righteous and share in the righteousness of God. This new wording guides us in deepening our commitment to God and becoming better embodiments of His goodness and love in our world. Excerpt from the Gaudium Mass songbook Liturgical Notes, p. 58

Eucharistic Prayer 2

03:29
Composer: Tinnah dela Rosa Singer: Yani Pulido Accompanist: Ledda Rosenberger For more music in the liturgy please go to www.praysingministry.com. You may download the music sheet from: https://www.praysingministry.com/bonus-liturgical-songs.html The Eucharistic Prayer is the heart of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. In this prayer, the celebrant acts in the person of Christ as head of his body, the Church. He gathers not only the bread and the wine, but the substance of our lives and joins them to Christ's perfect sacrifice, offering them to the Father. The introductory dialogue, establishes that this prayer is the prayer of the baptized and ordained, is offered in the presence of God, and has thanksgiving as its central focus. Following this dialogue, the celebrant begins the Preface. The Eucharistic Prayers make clear that these prayers are offered, not to Christ, but to the Father. It is worship offered to the Father by Christ as it was at the moment of his passion, death and resurrection, but now it is offered through the priest acting in the person of Christ, and it is offered as well by all of the baptized, who are part of Christ's Body, the Church. This is the action of Christ's Body, the Church at Mass. The priest offers the Eucharistic Prayer in the first person plural, for example, "Therefore, O Lord, we humbly implore you…" This "we" signifies that all the baptized present at the Eucharistic celebration make the sacrificial offering in union with Christ, and pray the Eucharistic Prayer in union with him. And what is most important, we do not offer Christ alone; we are called to offer ourselves, our lives, our individual efforts to grow more like Christ and our efforts as a community of believers to spread God's Word and to serve God's people, to the Father in union with Christ through the hands of the priest. Most wonderful of all, although our offering is in itself imperfect, joined with the offering of Christ it becomes perfect praise and thanksgiving to the Father.
