Song: Baker Street Vocals: Gerry Rafferty [ Jan 4, 2011: It's in the news that Gerry Rafferty passed away.] -- You're home now... and your music is a legacy you've left behind. ************ Saxophone: Raphael Ravenscroft Guitar solo: Hugh Burns Drums: Henry Spinetti Bass Guitar: Gary Taylor Keyboards: Tommy Eyre Percussion: Glen Le Fleur Rhythm Electric: Nigel Jenkins String Arrangement: Graham Preskett ************ "Baker Street" is a ballad written and first recorded by Scottish singer-songwriter Gerry Rafferty. Released as a single in 1978, it reached No. 1 in Canada, No. 2 in the United States, No. 3 in the United Kingdom, No. 1 in Australia and No. 9 in the Netherlands. The arrangement is famous for its saxophone riff, played by Raphael Ravenscroft and guitar solo, played by Hugh Burns. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I clearly remember when I first heard this song. The words are just so powerful that it's so difficult not to ponder about its meaning. The tune is so catchy, it could linger in your brain for a long time. .... and the SAX is so psyche-piercing that it defined a music trend. I used to not like listening to sax solo until I heard this song, which became a milestone of my appreciation of the power and beauty of sax. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ video scenery: BKK, Langeline in CPH, Baker Street OM London and Coyote Point. Here's one great instrumental interpretation by Carl Doy of the song that was popularized by Teresa Teng (邓丽君). "The Moon Represents My Heart" (月亮代表我的心) (Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin). - There are more beautiful selections in Carl Doy's album East/West album. - I know more of Teresa Teng's Japanese songs than those she sang in other languages. She used to take part in Japan's Kōhaku ( 紅白歌合戦 ).. Her version of 時の流れに身をまかせ is simply wonderful. -

♥ "The Way of Love" - by Kathy Kirby

02:50
UPDATE: May 20, 2011 -- It's in the news that this lovely artist joined her Creator today. Peace be unto her..... - Originally uploaded in my previous channel (65Reasons) on June 16, 2008. It is being re-uploaded with some updates... - "The Way of Love" Composer: Jacques Dieval English Lyrics: Al Stillman The lyricist for the French version "J'ai le mal de toi" is Michel Rivegauche. The song was originally written in French under the name 'J'ai le mal de toi' and recorded by Lili Castel for the song competition "Musik Ohne Grenzen" on the Belgian radio (BRT). The French lyrics were written by Michel Rivgauche. In 1965, it was released as a single by Kathy Kirby in English. Curiously, while this single failed to chart in her native United Kingdom, where Kirby placed several singles on the charts in the mid-60's, it became her only song to place on Billboard Hot 100. The song's lyrics were penned from a male point of view. Kirby's rendition does not change the perspective, creating a story in which the subject to whom she sings has left her for a male. "The Way of Love" was later recorded by Cher. Her version hit number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1972. - Enjoy! -

Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb6M-MNij8c TWO FOR THE ROAD (Lyrics) If you're feeling fancy free, come wander through the world with me, and any place we chance to be, will be a rendezvous. - Two for the road, we'll travel through the years, collecting precious memories, selecting souvenirs and living life the way we please. - In the summertime the sun will shine, in winter we will drink summer wine, and any day that you are mine, will be a lovely day. - As long as love still wears a smile, I know that we'll be two for the road, and that's a long, long while..... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Two for the Road is a 1967 movie directed by Stanley Donen about the twelve-year relationship between an architect (Albert Finney) and his wife (Audrey Hepburn). The movie was considered somewhat experimental for its time because the story is told in a non-linear fashion, with scenes from the latter stages of the relationship juxtaposed with those from its beginning, often leaving the viewer to extrapolate what has intervened, which is sometimes revealed in later scenes. The film largely takes place in France, with the central focus of each part being that the couple are travelling to the South of France on a road trip. Several locations are used in different segments, to show continuity throughout the 12-year period. The screenplay, written by Frederic Raphael, was nominated for an Academy Award. The film's theme song, Two for the Road, was composed by Henry Mancini, with lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. (The lyrics are not heard in the film.) Mancini, who composed many famous theme songs for films, including Moon River for Breakfast at Tiffany's, considered Two for the Road his favorite song. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ... (then the final lonely finale orchestral plays on....) . ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ The lyrics of this song was based on a poem that Lori Lieberman wrote. I first heard this song being played in a music store in Ginza in Tokyo in early February 1973. The more popular Roberta Flack's cover of this song was released at least year after this 1972 Lori Lieberman original. ----- From Wikipedia: Lori Lieberman is an American singer. She was born in California and grew up in Switzerland, and signed a deal with Capitol Records in the early 1970s. Her self-titled debut album featured the tune "Killing Me Softly with His Song", said to have been written after seeing Don McLean in concert. The tune was reworked by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, and would go on to be a chart-topping single for Roberta Flack a few years later. So I sing you to sleep After the lovin' With a song I just wrote yesterday And I hope you can hear What the words and the music have to say. . Thanks for takin' me On a one way trip to the sun. Thanks for turnin' me Into someone. So I sing you to sleep After the lovin' I brush back the hair from your eyes. "I Believe" (Lyrics) I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows I believe that somewhere in the darkest night a candle glows I believe for everyone who goes astray someone will come to show the way I believe, I believe. I believe above a storm the smallest prayer will still be heard I believe that someone in the great somewhere hears every word Everytime I hear a new born baby cry or touch a leaf or see the sky Then I know why, I believe... Everytime I hear a new born baby cry, or touch a leaf or see the sky Then I know why, I believe... I believe…… (….. and I do believe.) ============================== Song: I Believe Singers: The Lettermen - "I Believe" is a song written by Ervin Drake, Irvin Graham, Jimmy Shirl and Al Stillman in 1953.

♥ (Original-1972) Killing Me Softly with His Song - Lori_Lieberman

♥♥♥ The original of this video was uploaded in my old channel (65Reasons) on Aug. 22, 2008. It's here again.... for everyone's enjoyment. ♥♥♥ . Song: Killing Me Softly with His Song Singer: Lori Lieberman Album: Lori Lieberman (released 1972) Composer: Charles Fox Lyrics: Norman Gimbel - ♫ Killing Me Softly I heard he sang a good song I heard he had a style And so I came to see him to listen for a while And there he was this young boy A stranger to my eyes Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly with his song I felt all flushed with fever Embarrassed by the crowd I felt he found my letters And read each one out loud I prayed that he would finish But he just kept right on Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly with his song (guitar adlib) He sang as if he knew me In all my dark despair And then he looked right through me As if I wasn't there But he was there this stranger Singing clear and strong Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly with his song.... (then the final lonely finale orchestral plays on....) ♥ The lyrics of this song was based on a poem that Lori Lieberman wrote. I first heard this song being played in a music store in Ginza in Tokyo in early February 1973. The more popular Roberta Flack's cover of this song was released at least year after this 1972 Lori Lieberman original. What I remember however was that, immediately after the Roberta Flack version came out, this version by Lori Lieberman was seldom if ever played on the airwaves! I'm not insinuating that this was an example, but during those days the word "payola" was being hinted in some instances, whereby even good-for-nothing songs were just being plugged over and over by platter pushers to endorse the product.. (But then, isn't that what's happening now to?) ----- From Wikipedia: Lori Lieberman is an American singer. Lieberman released several albums on Capitol in the 1970s and also provided music for the Schoolhouse Rocks TV show in the late '70s and early '80s. In the 1980s Lieberman receded from the industry and had three children; in the mid-1990s she began recording again for independent labels." Song: I'll Be Seeing You Singer: Frank Sinatra Album: Point of No Return Composer: Sammy Fain Lyrics: Irving Kahal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ From Wikipedia: "I'll Be Seeing You" is a song from the Broadway musical "Right This Way". Its music was written by Sammy Fain, the lyrics by Irving Kahal. The song was published in 1938. - The first four lines of the tune replicate the theme of the last movement of Gustav Mahler's Third Symphony. My note: (Mahler's Symphony No.3 In D Minor: 6. Langsam. Ruhevoll. Empfunden) my trivia: The main character of book "Somewhere in Time" was listening to the symphonies of Gustav Mahler when he "travelled" back in time. The movie version however (Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves) had the music of Rachmaninoff and John Barry in it. - ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I'll find you in the morning sun and when the night is new...
