The tracks they've selected for this mix are more organic than expected, filled with sitars, sambas, and analog dubs with very little you'd think was electronica. Hipsters call this slapping of old jazz, reggae, and R&B records on the turntable "rare groove," and you've got to do a lot of homework to not come off as a charlatan. The duo never come off as anything but smart lovers of groovy music, the quirkier the better. The problem is that the mix isn't seamless and some of the transitions are downright jarring. The Corp's own "Richest Man in Babylon" is a tripped-out highlight -- a high compliment considering it keeps company with killers from Boozoo Bajou and Beatfanatic -- but Delroy Wilson's excellent "Better Must Come" just stumbles out of it. Tracks mix better during the album's softer beginning, but as a whole this sounds more like a cool radio station than someone trying to tell a story with two turntables. Dig it for the great tunes, not the flow. -www.allmusic.com-

Bom Cilomo - DJ Gruff

02:20
DJ Gruff - Bom Cilomo 14. Bom Cilomo, Producer – Dj Gruff Zero Stress is the second solo album by rapper and producer DJ Gruff [1997] Label: Zero Stress NVN Zero Stress is an underground rap manifesto in which the original slang and jargon coined ad hoc by Dj Gruff and his guests traveling on bases in which dominate the "doped" atmospheres and jazz often tells her. A seasoning everything we think, at regular intervals, the scratches and some irony is both verbal music. DJ Gruff, also known as Gruffetti (real name Sandro Orrù, born in Rome but from Sardinia) is an Italian hip hop artist. Gruff musical debut in the Italian rap scene is with the Sangue Misto hip hop band (together with Neffa and Deda, two other notable Italian hip hop characters). The work he did with Sangue Misto made him nationwide famous in Italy. DJ Gruff official solo debut is Rapadopa in 1993, today regarded as milestones in the genre. After the Italian hip hop artist in 1997, Gruff produces I Tre Tocchi, a trilogy that marks a stylistic evolution in Italian turntable scene. A bit later the LP Il Suono della Strada comes out, along with a single of the same name. The guitarist of Casino Royale, Pardo, participates to the album: this marks the beginning of the collaboration of DJ Gruff with the band, with a mix of rap and drum'n'bass sound. The last widely circulated Gruff album is O tutto o niente (1999). Later DJ Gruff dedicates himself to the production of underground projects (Puruchan battle breaks, Tiffititaff, The Worst Hits of Gruffettalco and many others). He also produced a couple of songs for the soundtrack of the Italian film Zora the vampire. Aside working as a solo artist, Gruff is also a member of the turntablist collective Alien Army. Kruder & Dorfmeister - G-Stoned

24:20
G-Stone Recordings, Austria http://www.g-stoned.com Released 12 Sep 1993 Amazon ➨ http://amzn.to/2E4QSmo Apple Music ➨ https://apple.co/2E2SKAg © ℗1993 G-Stone Recordings 01 [00:00] Definition - Kruder & Dorfmeister 02 [05:13] Deep Shit Pt. 1 & Pt. 2 - Kruder & Dorfmeister 03 [11:38] High Noon - Kruder & Dorfmeister 04 [18:09] Original Bedroom Rockers - Kruder & Dorfmeister Discogs® http://www.discogs.com Wikipedia® http://www.wikipedia.org G-Stoned is a four-track EP published by Kruder & Dorfmeister. The cover recalls that of Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel. The trip-hop production duo of Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister has gained more fame for its stellar remixes and DJ sets than as producers of its own work. By engineering reworkings of tracks by a cast of artists ranging from William Orbit and Bomb the Bass to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and United Future Organization, the Austrian duo became one of the most respected names in the dancefloor community. Kruder & Dorfmeister's standing increased with the issue of two acclaimed 1996 DJ albums: Conversions for Spray/BMG and DJ Kicks for Belgium's Stud!o K7. After forming their own G-Stone Records, the pair found a distribution deal with Quango and released the G-Stoned EP in mid-1996. Though they remained busy with remix work and DJ gigs during 1997, it wasn't until late 1998 that another release appeared, The Kruder & Dorfmeister Sessions. Dorfmeister also appears in the side-project Tosca with Rupert Huber, while Kruder released an album on G-Stoned in 1999 as Peace Orchestra. [See Also: Tosca, Peace Orchestra] ~ John Bush While originating mostly in Bristol some 25 years back, trip hop quickly spread out far beyond England. In fact, many great acts from all over Europe had a handful of quality material to present, though some never achieved the deserved recognition. Regardless, if you're looking for proof of this, meet Kruder And Dorfmeister. This acclaimed downtempo duo from Austria, in spite of having a relatively short discography, has produced and recorded some of the genre's most essential output. The debut EP of theirs G-Stoned more than illustrates this. Paying a nice little homage to Simon And Garfunkel in its album cover, it encompasses some of this duo's best qualities in little more than 24 minutes. What immediately stands out in this release is how impeccably it flows, every tune leads to the other beautifully. The loungey "Definition" is a superb pick for an opener. Chock-full of gentle and subtle pianos, lush xylophones and flute jams, it sets a laidback ambiance that is perfectly counteracted by "Deep Sh't". This following track's tribal chants and beats, punctuated by its memorable bassline and eerie keyboards, are all perfectly balanced by one another. This combines for a superb groove, on a more atmospheric and introspective cut. Taking cues from its two counterparts, "High Noon" is possibly the best moment on here. A chilling, intriguing and hypnotic jam, it best represents what G-Stoned, and Kruder And Dorfmeister in general, are all about. This lends closer "Original Bedroom Rockers" a chance to close out on a more understated tone. After a pair of amazing and 'contemplative' tunes, the sexy groove and vibrant beats here seem perfect to conclude this release, accompanying the listener in the end of a truly excellent journey. In short, there's not much that can be said about Kruder And Dorfmeister and G-Stoned. What you'll find here is hardly pioneering or original, but it has an exceptional beauty about it that goes beyond explanation. No, this Austrian duo may have not started a musical revolution. No, they didn't redefine trip hop. But they took lessons from the best and made their output truly indispensable. This EP is mellow, relaxing, lively and exciting all at once, and an essential release for any remotely interested fan. Kruder And Dorfmeister may have a reduced amount of released material, but when it's of this outstanding quality it hardly matters. -www.sputnikmusic.com-

It was released on 19 August 1996 on the Studio !K7 independent record label as part of the DJ-Kicks series. Though it's a close race, Kruder & Dorfmeister make for better DJs than producers, as witnessed by their volume in the DJ-Kicks series. Beginning with downbeat trip-hop including Herbaliser, Statik Sound System, and Thievery Corporation, Kruder & Dorfmeister flow through jazzy drum'n'bass (with Aquasky and JMJ & Flytronix) and techno (with Hardfloor and Showroom Recordings). K&D sound much more relaxed and involved than on their own G-Stoned EP. The two famous DJs especially for their remix shoot out a non-stop compilation with exquisite changes exploring the most diverse musical genres. This ciddì is a real musical trip to listen to all in one breath and this is precisely its real strong point: the genius in carrying from one track to another the listener without interrupting a common thread that keeps glued to ' I listen. "K & D" always aim at the quality and refinement of the sound by exploring downtempo rhythms, drum & bass, trip-hop transforming the pieces of this compilation into a fantastic story ... There is just a little more to say, the Dj Kicks of the Kruder & Dorfmeister is an experience to experience from beginning to end ... try it and believe it A great "must have" in my opinion ...

The two-disc set is first and foremost a K&D mix album, to add to the two they'd already released. It's also a remix collection, though; each of the 21 tracks are reworkings (by Kruder, Dorfmeister, or both) for artists including Roni Size, Lamb, David Holmes, Bomb the Bass, Depeche Mode, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Sofa Surfers, and Count Basic. As could be expected, The K&D Sessions is earthy, downtempo and acid-based, even moreso than previous mix albums by the pair. The pinging vocal samples that echo through the duo's remix of "Bug Powder Dust" by Bomb the Bass prove amply that Kruder & Dorfmeister have a better handle on 21st-century dub techniques than any other producers out there, and the impossibly deep beats on almost every track simply couldn't have been recorded by any other act. Yes, it's a bit of a shame that the pair still hadn't released an album of own-productions, but with (re)mix albums this stunning and accomplished, Kruder & Dorfmeister hardly needed one to gain respect.

Abductions and Reconstructions, however, is different from previous ESL releases, such as Dubbed Out in D.C., in that it's easily the label's most accessible album to date. It consists of 15 Thievery remixes of artists from Stereolab to David Byrne to Baba Maal and tends to be a lot more active than the duo's original compositions. Still, the tracks here bear only a passing resemblance to their original forms--in Thievery's hands, the songs are drawn out, tranced up, mellowed down, but each has its own flavor. The end result is an album that's both diverse and consistent and completely enjoyable. You could just as easily dance to these tracks as sit and lounge to them--the perfect soundtrack for either a great bar or your next party. -Randy Silver- www.amazon.com

Fresh from the press plant, it is now on the sales counter, just in time for the tenth anniversary of the label: The new Vienna Scientists V. Full of warm soul, kicking funk, fresh disco beats and relaxed jazz. Dancefloor and song instead of being sampled to death, with a fondness of depth and warmth – full of fire and also of feeling, with more vocals than ever before – that’s how the Vienna label presents itself at present. Electrifying and exhilarating tunes are the results, which are reflected in each one of the twelve tracks of this both fine and aesthetic selection. Vienna Scientists V gives an overview of the contemporary Viennese music and club culture. The anniversary CD comprises long-standing towers of strength of the Scientist sound, such as dub master Stefan Obermaier, the cosmopolitans of Madrid de Los Austrias, legends of the brand Makossa & Megablast as well as, of course, Gernot Ebenlechner’s and Jürgen Drimal’s own artistic valve Freedom Satellite, with which the label history once started. But it also introduces relatively new projects: The bass player Stefan Fallmann aka Flaer or the jazz musicians of Scheckter. Finally, the album surprises by featuring highlights of the genre such as Ed Royal from Innsbruck or the U.S. collective Fort Knox Five, even if the Rodney Hunter, living in Vienna for his affinity to this place, has lent a strong hand. Only the optical appearance has not changed: The cover has been designed, as usual, by the Viennese painter Mario Huber and guarantees the adequate recognition value. -www.viennascientists.com-

The album was "conceived as a single seamless sea of sound."No Hassle includes no featured vocal tracks, and instead marks Tosca's return to vocal samples and the "use of the voice as an instrument" last heard on the 2000 album Suzuki. It looks incredible, but Kruder & Dorfmeister is practically no longer spoken about. Or rather it's just like any other dj or producer. Better so. There was a time when if you did not go to Vienna every Saturday night to spin on the refined rhythms of the "K & D Sessions" you were a poor man. After hangover (but then who is dancing chill-out?), Richard Dorfmeister finds old friend Rupert Huber with whom he signs the fifth chapter on behalf of Tosca. We are delighted to hear those cool ambient scenes that made famous recordings such as "Dehli 9" (2003) and above all "Suzuki" (2000), and we cruise in the soft soft-dub created by Dorfmeister ("Elitsa" ("Raymundo"), we close our eyes in the "Joe has got" narcotic moods and we wake up to the rhythms in four of Oysters in May. The overall harmony, the precise and smooth chassis of the arrangements and the sophistication of rhythmic partitions are the unchanging distinctive feature of the duo. Everything as usual, in short. Almost. The novelty lies in the new Tosca sound approach, definitely oriented towards constant search for analog melodies that reduce the rhythmic-digital component as a pure support element. In this sense, there are some "sings" ("Birthday", "My First"), the "Fondue" acoustic guitars, Mrs Bongo's meditative arpeggios and the ethnic percussion of the concluding "No Hassle". A shy signal of innovation, important to those who appreciate a genre (and especially a band) does not really use change and experimentation. Good for them, and good evening in Vienna. Unfortunately this will not prevent "No Hassle" (by the way, "No hurry", and it was understood) to start dusting in a corner of the room in a week or so. And probably forever.

Not a true label best-of (how can it be without "Original Bedroom Rockers" from K&D's landmark G Stoned EP?), G Stone Book is a sampler of various side projects of the duo, such as Kruder's Peace Orchestra, Dorfmeister's Tosca, and the duo's solo releases. Some tracks from other G Stone artists are featured as well, especially the creeping trip-funk experience of Walkner-Moestl's "Shades." There's no rare material present; every track is readily available on other releases, making this release something for newcomers looking for that nonexistent full-length K&D record. While this compilation is not for the punters looking for some rare grooves, it nevertheless is an adequate compilation of some excellent trip-hop and acid jazz from two of the masters of the genre.

Since the early '90s, Different Drummer has been a rather underground and respected imprint, one that has come to encompass sound systems and club nights. Though none of Different Drummer's producers have pushed boundaries or revolutionized music on a level comparable to the original dub innovators (King Tubby, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Scientist), they've helped keep the spirit alive while injecting it into ambient dub and trip-hop. Dorfmeister's selection work and sequencing do an admirable job of displaying the label's range, from Noiseshaper's roots-influenced "Movin' Together" to Rockers Hi Fi's "Sexy Selector," which blends its riddim with ambient Detroit techno shadings. This will easily appeal to Dorfmeister and Different Drummer heads alike.

No meaning might have a meaning here. A certain lack of meaningfulness describes the nature of Tosca pretty well; on their equine record even more so. Releasing an album of remixes of their most recent work stays in tradition with the Tosca modus operandi. There's been at least one remix album for each 'original' Tosca album to date. In the case of "No Hassle", Tosca’s 2009 longplayer, this might make even more sense than before, since "No Hassle" was an introspective work. "Pony" brings the more club-oriented face of Tosca to the forefront. To put it simply, Tosca, the project of the two Austrians, Richard Dofmeister and Rupert Huber, combines bass-heavy downbeat music with abstract soundscapes of found sounds and material from numerous studio sessions. When these recordings are handed over to remixers like Smith & Mudd, Grant Phabao, Nicola Conte, Stevie Kotey & Robin Lee, Rodney Hunter, Bottin, Spirit Catcher, Pete Herbert & Phil Mison, Kalabrese and the KuK Streichquartett everything changes; texture, dynamics, structures. Still, "Pony" is a true Tosca album; the sound signature of Dorfmeister and Huber cannot be superseded by a remix. Rodney Hunter pushes the accelerator for his version of "Rosa", succeeding. Less effective is the Kalabrese funk graft on "Oysters In May". Elegant as always Nicola Conte struggling with a jazz arrangement of "My First". The line closes with a string version of the aforementioned "Rose". -G-stone-

Fans of Kruder & Dorfmeister (Richard Dorfmeister's better known main project) will already be familiar with Tosca's down-tempo, groove-oriented vibe, and J.A.C., the duo's fourth release, delivers more of the same, with impressive attention to creating lush, relaxing cushions of sound. Live instrumentation fleshes out the programming here, and Dorfmeister and Huber's artful work at the boards keeps the synthesis smooth and sophisticated, with enough contemporary production flourishes to keep things varied and high-minded. The retro lounge feel of "Heidi Bruhl," for example, is offset by the smoothly rolling groove of "John Lee Huber," and whereas most of J.A.C. spins out jazzy, laid-back atmospheres, there are a few scattered moments, like the electro-funk of "Damentag," where the energy receives a welcome boost. A host of guest vocalists lend their talents to the outing, making J.A.C. a fun, fine stereo selection for mellow, elegant socializing or a solo headphone experience.

Afternoons In Stereo - Aural Pleasure

In addition to his music project, Vickers/Afternoons in Stereo hosts a weekly radio cast called Urban Modernists, featuring hip, groovy music aimed at, well, urban modernists. As befitting such a moniker, it’s no surprise that Afternoons in Stereo make hip, groovy music that lands somewhere between laid-back chill out and acid jazz. Other than Vickers, not much information is available about the band, leading us to believe that either Vickers is playing everything himself, or is using a lot of electronic samples. Either way, it’s good stuff, as evidenced by his 2004 debut, Aural Pleasure. The title is apt, as the album is chock-full of relaxing, entrancing grooves, perfect for chilling out with a martini and a cigar, for this is the stuff you’d hear in your local martini bar. “Sunrais,” for instance, would’ve fit in nicely on any of the old This is Acid Jazz compilations that the Acid Jazz/Instinct label put out during that genre’s heyday: a seductive saxophone mixed in with acoustic guitar strumming and occasional funk guitar riffs over a groovy, subtle dance beat. Hell, Vickers even throws in some jazz flute for good measure. This is good stuff, a track worthy of repeated listens. Likewise with “Turtleneck,” where Vickers brings the flute to the forefront and moves the sax back to a secondary instrument, all over a bit of Latin-style percussion, resulting in a jazzy experience that should have your head nodding as you imbibe (unless, of course, you’re too hip to nod your head.) “A New Dawn, A New Day,” on the other hand, is an exercise in jazz/funk, albeit with some tasty conga percussion. It does feature a very soulful vocalist, however, and is probably the most upbeat number on the album, at least until it ventures into dub reggae territory, which is a totally welcome change of pace. “Manihi,” though, is pure electronic chill-out, except that you can actually dance to it if you’re so inclined: a neat danceable beat under (or, rather, sometimes, over) airy, atmospheric keyboards and distant beach sounds. “On the Way to Lucia’s” is also quite relaxing, and without the dance beats. Instead, Vickers treats us to some somber trumpet and stream of consciousness spoken word, mixed in with a bit of Spanish guitar. Conversely, “Metrosexual” is an upbeat track full of nifty percussion and funky guitar riffs. And “Modernist Abode” is a cinematic piece of urban/acid jazz with its busy dance beats and nice jazz guitar riffs (and the jazz flute ain’t none too bad, either.) “Esquema da Sophia Pt II,” meanwhile, is a funky four-minute, trumpet-filled workout in which we’re treated to a chuckle-inducing sample of the two jive brothers from the movie Airplane! that makes it a fun listen. Seriously, I’ve listened to Aural Pleasure over 40 times in the last few days, and have yet to tire of it. It is a relaxing, groovy, jazzy release that should sooth you as you listen. And while Afternoons in Stereo have released a couple of actual CD’s, unfortunately, Aural Pleasure is only available through electronic download. Fortunately, there’s more than one avenue to purchase from: it’s available on iTunes, eMusic, and through the band’s website, afternoonsinstereo.com. It is, however, well worth the time spent downloading, and well worth your listening time.

Discogs® http://www.discogs.com Wikipedia® http://www.wikipedia.org Synkronized is the fourth studio album released by funk/acid jazz band Jamiroquai. It was released on 8 June 1999 on Work Group in the United States and on 14 June 1999 in the United Kingdom under S2 Records. The album contains funk rock, acid jazz and disco elements. Three years after their breakout Travelling Without Moving, Jamiroquai returned with another album that charts Jay Kay's continuing fascination with club-bound music of the 1970s -- from disco to jazz-funk to rare groove to later Motown -- but also shows signs of maturity. Produced by Kay with Al Stone, who also collaborated on Travelling Without Moving, the album includes several tracks (like the single "Canned Heat") that work infectious acid jazz grooves, and Kay's hipster vocals give out feel-good vibes through a set of ambiguously good-time lyrics. Though other tracks show a bit of an electronica update to the affairs, each still spotlights how strong and tight the band is. It may not be a leap ahead in sound, but Synkronized is another solid Jamiroquai record. -en.wikipedia.org- -www.allmusic.com-

Silvius Leopold Weiss - " Fantasie", guitar Asya Selyutina

02:07
Sylvius Leopold Weiss (12 October 1687 – 16 October 1750) was a German composer and lutenist. Born in Grottkau near Breslau, the son of Johann Jacob Weiss, also a lutenist, he served at courts in Breslau, Rome, and Dresden, where he died. Until recently, he was thought to have been born in 1686, but recent evidence suggests that he was in fact born the following year.[citation needed] Weiss was one of the most important and most prolific composers of lute music in history and one of the best-known and most technically accomplished lutenists of his day. He was a teacher to Philip Hyacinth, 4th Prince Lobkowicz, and the prince's second wife Anna Wilhelmina Althan. In later life, Weiss became a friend of Wilhelm Friedemann Bach and met J.S. Bach through him. Bach and Weiss were said to have competed in improvisation, as the following account by Johann Friedrich Reichardt describes: "Anyone who knows how difficult it is to play harmonic modulations and good counterpoint on the lute will be surprised and full of disbelief to hear from eyewitnesses that Weiss, the great lutenist, challenged J. S. Bach, the great harpsichordist and organist, at playing fantasies and fugues." Sylvius Weiss' son Johann Adolph Faustinus Weiss succeeded him as a Saxon court lutenist. Scorpio Rising clip

04:14
Scorpio Rising clip Scorpio Rising is a 1963 experimental short film by Kenneth Anger, starring Bruce Byron (whom Anger asserts was "half-crazy") as Scorpio. Themes central to the film include the occult, biker subculture, homosexuality, Catholicism, and Nazism; the film also explores the worship of rebel icons of the era, namely James Dean and Marlon Brando (referred to by Anger as Byron's "heroes"). Like many of Anger's films, the film does not contain any dialogue; it instead features a prominent soundtrack consisting of 1960s pop, including songs by Ricky Nelson, The Angels, The Crystals, Bobby Vinton, Elvis Presley, and Ray Charles. The foundation has been secured by a continuous release policy of quality products, the catalogue displays a considerable strive for fresh ideas, which at the end of the day secured succesful growth and a network of creative friends all over the place called world. Moreover, the slogan conveys the keeping of a promise, label founder Jürgen Drimal gave at the start of his enterprise: To craft a distinguished label - style on terms of sound, cover art, and attitude. For independent record labels, 5 years of existence and on the rise is a rare story to be told. In respect of Vienna Scientists Recordings, the headline for its anniversary, “Five Years Of Solid Grooves”, is not to be taken as a nostalgic look to the past, but an optimistic outlook towards the future. It was the release of three compilations which gave the “Vienna Scientists” label its identity as a mother who has been given birth to a breed of electronic music marked by black culture, namely Jazz, Funk, Soul, Latino, Disco and Dub. The growing succes which followed every single release gave vent for another 13 projects on 16 sound carriers, each one set apart from outputs by other labels by means of the scientists’ special formula. Distilling the ‘Vienna Sound Of Now’, the only thing which holds true for every release, no matter how different the results might be, is the attitude of the artists who share a common background. After the world-wide success for the K + D imprint, a stereotype of electronic music made in Vienna has been established by the media: That it has to be the ideal soundtrack for comfortable coffee lounges hooked on a slow, moody vibe. This cliché can’t be held up against reality in 2004: It is variety rather than uniformity which characterizes Vienna Scientists IV. Allright, there are no robot sounds to be found on the record, but everything that breathes life and soul into music produced with machines by human beings. -www.viennascientists.com-

Written and produced by Canadian musician and graphic designer Greg Vickers, the heart of the Afternoons in Stereo sound lay rooted in the synthesis of digital-era production and a warm sense of genuine instrumentation. While in many cases the music is largely digital in it's most basic blueprint, it's alive with the feeling of human musicianship and the organic sensibilities of live recording. it's these elements, skillfully combined, that give Afternoons in Stereo it's distinct groove. To-date afternoons in stereo has independently released four albums. The independent debut, 'Aural Pleasure', came together in 2004. it's follow-up, 'Leaves Of Brass', was released in 2006 and won the Hamilton Music Award for best electronic album of that year. 'The City Is Sleeping', was released in the winter of 2008, garnishing the HMA for Best Instrumental Album. All three records made a strong impact on the underground music scene. The fourth album, 'The Silence Between Phrases', was released in summer 2010 on the Timewarp Music label. Several EP's and remix projects followed. Timewarp releases the fifth Afternoons In Streo album, simply entitled '5', on May 20th 2013.
