Learn Russian through Songs - Звезда (Глюкоза)

05:01
Complete Analysis of the song here http://explorerussian.com/shine-my-star-learn-russian-through-songs/ For more videos like this Subscribe to this Channel and my website http://explorerussian.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Learn Russian through Songs is a series of articles published on http://explorerussian.com in which I break songs down to pieces for Russian learners. What does "to pieces" mean? I translate lyrics word by word and I explain grammar, vocabulary, syntax, and cultural elements. The analysis goes always much further than the song itself. I try to give additional examples and make as many associations as possible with other songs, films, literature, culture etc. I believe in learning in context (through songs, films etc.) as this type of learning creates extra layers of information in our memory (images, sounds, emotions etc.) and enhances memorisation. I also believe in the power of associations in learning. The secret to memorising something new is to connect it as strongly as possible with something you already know. For more on associations, you can watch this video. https://youtu.be/D887yxymi-g Thanks for watching and for reading, Angelos

Ask a million Russian teachers around you

04:51
When you arrive in Russia, or any Russian speaking country, anyone around you can be your teacher. A seller, the man in the lift, the waiter, the grandmother at the bus stop etc. If you don’t know how to say something in Russian, simply ask. Ask anyone, anything, anywhere, anytime. If you didn’t understand, if you didn’t hear, ask again and again. People will be happy to help you. If someone doesn’t want to help you, you still have an infinite amount of teachers around you. Persist. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Practise as much as possible with your teachers around you. Become what I call a “social language learner”. That’s the shortest path to becoming fluent in Russian or any language.

How to Learn Effectively Anything - Test It

03:05
The characteristics of effective learning are counterintuitive. When we have the feeling that we learn effectively, we normally don’t. The science of learning — cognitive psychology — has produced valuable research as to how we should learn if we want to remember for the long run. In this video series you will learn how to learn more effectively according to research results in cognitive psychology. These tips are not my personal beliefs. It’s what science says the characteristics of effective learning are. These video series are an overview of my latest book The Superlearner Myth - The organic, long-term approach to effective learning. You can find this book here: http://livediversified.com/books/the-superlearner-myth/ Along the way of discovering the keys to effective learning, I found that good note taking also increases the effectiveness of learning and long-term retention. You can find the results of my research in this book here: http://livediversified.com/books/how-to-take-good-notes/ The third characteristic of effective learning is self-testing. The recall practice strengthens the neural pathways that are associated with a memory. This is what makes a memory strong. Maybe you feel you waste your time when you stretch yourself to remember. However, it’s this hard cognitive effort that will make your learning durable over time and also reveal gaps in your knowledge. On the contrary, if you just passively reread new material, your notes, or whatever you are trying to learn you risk forgetting it sooner or later. Anki is a great flash card software with which you can practice recall. You can download it here http://ankisrs.net/. Always remember this. If you want to make your learning easy, you will have to pay a price for it later. The price of forgetting. Effective learning (long-term learning) should be effortful and hard. Hence, avoid practices like cramming, rereading and speedreading. These are certainly not the characteristics of effective learning. These practices make you feel like a superlearner. You think you learn fast. However, the results are only temporary. If you don't put enough effort into learning, you will soon forget what you learned. If you are passionate about learning and getting better every single day subscribe to my blog http://livediversified.com. I am like you. We need each other to make it happen. Give me a shout any time at [email protected] Thanks! Special thanks to Kostantinos D. for editing and giving shape to this video! How to Learn any Language - Walking Language Learning

03:21
This is the number one method that has helped me to learn languages while walking. How? While you walk (or cycle, or drive) look at things around you and practice the language out loud. Say things like: "This is a car, this is a tree, people are walking on the street etc." Practice verb conjugation, simple phrases. Say anything you can see or imagine out loud. Why does this work? Because this is a kinesthetic method. You see a real object, you speak out loud, you listen to your voice and all this while you move. Try it out guys and you will see amazing results! Learn Russian with effective techniques - Talk at Oxford University

13:26
Angelos Geograkis gives a talk at Oxford University Russian Society with tips on how to learn Russian with effective techniques like films, 'walk and speak Russian loudly', 'grammar sacks', 'break it down' etc. ================================= More techniques and tips on how to Learn Russian on my blog page: http://explorerussian.com ================================= Learn Russian through films with the setup explained on the video and links to popular Russian films http://explorerussian.com/watch-russian-films-in-a-learning-mode/ Transcript Hello everyone, Всем привет! My name is Angelos. As Valeria said, in the last six months I totally immersed into the Russian language and culture. I had a clear goal in my head - to speak good Russian. Learning a language obviously requires effort, lots of studying, and I am sure you would all agree here that Russian is not the easiest language to learn. However, this time I tried to make learning a little bit more fun and also I wanted to experiment with different learning techniques. Tonight, I would like to share with you some of those techniques that proved effective in my case. But before I start with these methods, I would like to stress here that the most important element one needs to speak good Russian, or any language, is love for the language. Maybe that love comes from the Russian literature, music, travelling...WOMEN??? Oooops, I forgot to take that out… Now, you all know why I learnt Russian. No, seriously, in my case, music was a catalyst. I play the bouzouki, a Greek musical instrument very similar to balalaika. A red army choir CD fell on my hands and introduced me to classics like Moscow nights and Katysha. I loved that music. As a mathematician, I was fascinated by the life and vision of Andrey Kolmogorov, the Russian mathematician who set the foundations of probability theory. I was fortunate to have lots of connections with the Russian culture. I encourage that you find your own love for Russian language. Different starting points and passions can lead to the same end, to speak good Russian. Films Films is a very effective multisensory method which involves images, sound, and most importantly emotions. The visual content is engaging...who doesn’t like watching films? You then listen to tons of dialogs which helps you develop a sense for sounds of the language can dramatically improve your pronunciation. Especially, Russian language has a very wide sound frequency range from 100Hz to 12000Hz. You need to train your ear and listen a lot to be able to reproduce the unfamiliar sounds. Then, a film makes you connect with the actors and it can evoke emotions; Emotions are very important in learning. Research has shown that knowledge that is tagged with strong emotional value is more easily recalled from our memory. In a film you can feel love, empathy, admiration for the actor even negative emotions like anger. Negative emotions are as effective in memorisation as positive ones. Well, we prefer positive emotions of course. Also, films will help you immerse into the culture, history, and mentality of Russian people. The questions is now how do you watch a film in a ‘learning mode’? The setup that has worked in my case is three windows opened on the screen: actual film with English subtitles, transcript in Russian and a small Google Translator window. The procedure is: You watch trying to understand as much as possible without looking at the subtitles. When you don’t understand something press pause, look at the translation and the transcript at the left, and then write down on your notebook the new word using pen and paper. The Google Translator window is very useful for different reasons. First, you can confirm that you match word with the its translation. Second, you can find the initial form of a verb or noun, for example here we have the word квартиру which is the accusative form of the noun квартира - apartment. Third, you can play the word and listen to it as many times as you want. You can also record it and practise your pronunciation.

*** NEW LIMITED OFFER: Do you wanna get a $380 discount at Liden and Denz? Send an email to [email protected]!! *** Hi Explorussians, I was at Liden & Denz Language Institute in St. Petersburg the other day answering your comments on YouTube. Fatih left the following comment: "In Russia they say O великий, могучий, правдивый и свободный русский язык!" I hadn't heard that phrase before, I looked it up and found that it is from a popular prose poem by Ivan Turgenev, "The Russian Language". Nadya was going back and forth along the corridor on that day, so I invited her to explain the phrase for me. I loved the way she interpreted the phrase and I'm sure you'll love it too! Enjoy!

Russian Verb Prefixes - Prefix В

11:57
This is a new video series on Russian Verb Prefixes. Verb Prefixes are an important part of the Russian Grammar and should be studied carefully. Once you learn how the prefixes work you will unlock the meaning and use of most of the Russian verbs. For the full text of the video and all the examples please read here http://explorerussian.com/russian-verb-prefixes-prefix-b/ ‎ Text This is a new video series on Russian verb prefixes. What is a prefix? It's a group of letters that you can add to the beginning of a word to change its meaning. In the English language we have prefixes. For example, the prefix "un". clear - unclear fold - unfold Prefixes are an important element of the Russian verbs. In some cases, a prefix only makes an imperfective verb perfective. For example, писать (impf) - написать (pf) - to write читать (impf) - прочитать (pf) - to read In most of the cases though, a prefix doesn't only make the verb perfective but also changes its meaning. делать - to do (impf) переделать - to redo, alter (pf) Prefix В and Verbs of Motion In this first video, we're looking at the prefix В - ВО. The prefix В adds a direction to the verb, a direction INTO something. That's very common with verbs of motion. For example, входить (impf) / войти (pf) - enter, come in(to) Маша входила в комнату с чайником, расставляла чашки и уходила. - Masha used to come into the room with a kettle, arrange the cups and leave. (repeated action - impf) Remember I said earlier, a prefix in most of the cases makes the verb imperfective. Not always though. Ходить is imperfective. Входить is also imperfective. Он вошёл в комнату и остановился у двери. - He entered the room and stood by the door. (one instance action - pf) влетать (impf) / влететь (pf) - fly in(to) Птица влетела в открытое окно. - The bird flew into the open window. (pf) Remember the verb лететь is imperfective. It is unidirectional. Летать is multidirectional. Птица по небу летает. - The bird is flying in the sky. or it denotes a repeated action. Я часто летаю в Москву. - I often fly to Moscow. Я лечУ в Москву завтра. - I'm flying to Moscow tomorrow.

How to Learn Russian Fast!! 🚀🚀🚀

03:46
*** Attention: Please, subscribe and turn on notifications so you don't miss videos like this! We're almost 10000 people here!!! *** No matter how many times I say that learning Russian should not feel like a 100m sprint, you guys keep asking "How can I learn Russian fast?". OK, I got it! :)  That's why I decided to leave my romantic theories on the side and tell you how to hack Russian.    I was having a conversation about language learning with Patrick Theros, an ex-US ambassador in Qatar and other Arab countries. Patrick who is passionate about languages and speaks a few said to me: "If you really want to learn the language fast you have to go to the country where they speak it. If you can't go to the country, you have to isolate yourself from other languages and surround yourself with your target language!" He was right! This is exactly what I did myself to learn Russian! Now, some of you can't travel to Russia. I understand that. How can you then immerse into Russian when not in Russia? This is my recipe:  1) Watch films/series for hooouuuurs - I remember I would watch a silly Russian series on Youtube, episode after episode, for 5-6 hours. After such long sessions, I used to move away from my computer like a zombie! But what kind of zombie? A Russian zombie! Neither a Greek zombie (my nationality), nor an English zombie (I used to live in London)! After such long immersion sessions you feel like Russian is your native language! You feel like the next person you'll come across is expected to speak in Russian with you! That's real immersion, ie. when you forget your native language! 2) Hunt Russians! - Not sure what city you live in, but I'm sure you can find some Russian if you search well for them! Chase these people! Where do they hang out? Find them! Stop them! Don't let them go! They are the best учебник - учитель for you! Stop reading my books or studying vocabulary on your own. Spend time with Russians! I used to spend a whole Sunday with my Russian friends in London! After spending a few hours with them, you also feel like you're Russian yourself! 3) Italki practice - An italki lesson should be just PRACTICE! Nothing else!!! After one hour, you should feel your head burning, working 100%. And you SPEAK! That's real practice, real immersion!! By the way, if you use this link to register, you'll earn $10 worth of credit which you can use for your first lesson.  If you do all the above you'll then feel motivated to book a trip to Russia. Yes, you'll do it in the end! And you'll feel Russian when you arrive because you've already immersed into their culture. Another tip, why don't you book a trip to Ukraine if that's easier for you! I spent myself 6 months in Ukraine. They speak Russian in Kiev or Odessa. It's also easier because you don't need a visa to travel to Ukraine (for most people). Last thing, you need to find your WHY around Russian. That's very important. You should focus on that. Not all people have the same why, the same goals and reasons for learning Russian. 🇷🇺 All my Tips and Secrets for those who travel to Russia 👉 http://bit.ly/2ANZzTK 💰 $480 Discount on Russian Language Lessons in Russia? How to Learn any Language - Associative Language Learning

03:05
When we learn a language we should make as many associations as possible. When you learn a new word try to find the word root, synonyms, antonyms, words that sound or look similar. Create mind maps and connect words together based on their meaning, grammar, or anything you can imagine. Keep everything connected in your head. Watch out for patterns. Don't accelerate before interacting enough with the new vocabulary; otherwise, you will forget it! Don't give speed to language learning. Give it more motivation, curiosity and love. Find genuine interest in a language. Watch films, practice with native speakers, travel, show up on language events, make 1000000 mistakes and learn from them. This place is called "Площадь искусств" (Square of Arts). What I'm going to do here today… I've got with me a list with pairs of imperfective and perfective verbs. I'm going to approach random people on the street and ask them what is the difference between an imperfective and a perfective verb. Right now, for example, let's ask these ladies here. Извините, извините. Можно у вас спросить? Excuse me, excuse me. May I ask you a question? Кстати, я учу русский язык, да? By the way, I am learning Russian, ok? И у меня здесь вот список с глаголами. And I have a list with verbs here. Это несовершенный глагол и совершенный глагол. This is an imperfective verb and this is a perfective verb. Например, вот, "рисовать" — "нарисовать". For example, "рисовать - imperfective" — "нарисовать - perfective" (to draw). Ага. Yes. Какая разница? Можно мне дать примеры? What's the difference? Can you give me examples? Конкретные предложения. Specific sentences. О, давай. Oh, let's do it. Русский язык. The Russian language. "Рисовать", то есть, это как процесс, то есть "Рисовать" (to draw - imperfective) is like a process, that is, "сейчас я рисую". “I'm drawing now”. А "нарисовать" - это как завершённый, And "нарисовать" (to draw - perfective) is like complete, то есть "я нарисовал". that is, “I have drawn”. Хорошо. Good.

How to Learn Effectively Anything - Space It Out

03:28
You can find the results of my research in this book here: http://livediversified.com/books/how-to-take-good-notes/ The fourth characteristic of effective learning is spacing. To learn effectively we need to allow time for new material to soak into our memory. Cramming and massed practice is the most inefficient way to learn if your goal is to remember something for the long run. Every time we go back to our studying after a break, recall is necessary. The process of recall is what makes a memory strong. Don’t believe in crash courses and books that promise they can teach you a skill, a language, or anything else in a weekend or a few hours. That’s not effective learning. How to Learn Effectively Anything - Mix It Up

Characteristics of effective learning - (How to learn effectively) #2 - Mix It Up! The characteristics of effective learning are counterintuitive. When we think that we learn effectively, we normally don’t. The science of learning — cognitive psychology — has produced valuable research as to how we should learn if we want to remember for the long run. In this video series you will learn how to learn more effectively according to research results in cognitive psychology. These tips are not my personal beliefs. You can find the results of my research in this book here: http://livediversified.com/books/how-to-take-good-notes/ The second characteristic of effective learning is varied learning instruction. We should not tailor the learning instruction to our preferred learning style. There is no scientific evidence that we learn better by learning according to our learning style. Instead, there are studies that have shown the opposite. For example, a visual learner may benefit more by switching to reading or a verbal learner may benefit more by switching to learning through pictures. We should always stretch ourselves to work with our weaknesses and not only our strengths. That’s the right approach not only with learning but also with any aspect of our personality. More videos on the characteristics of effective learning are on the way. If you don't want to miss them subscribe! This is a real story about language learning, bakery shops, and taking risks! I hope you'll like it. My point is don't be afraid of making mistakes when you learn a language. Say it in different words, take risks. You may sound funny but that's OK! Native speakers will find it cute, they'll like it. Don't ask how long it took me to learn Russian!!!

03:41
*** Attention: Please, subscribe and turn on notifications so you don't miss videos like this! We're almost 10000 people here!!! *** I often get asked the same question: “How long did it take you to speak Russian so well?” I always answer: “That’s the wrong question”. Fluency should never be the end goal. We’re all fluent in our mother tongue. Do we feel great about that? Trust me, the moment you become fluent in Russian, you won’t throw a party to celebrate your fluency. So, if fluency is not the goal, what is the goal? Well, philosophically speaking, we should be careful with setting too many goals because that forces us to live only for a moment in the future and forget the present. With that in mind, the goal, in my opinion, should be the experience, communication, a strong friendship with your Russian friend, a trip across Siberia, watching the film Irony of Fate with friends on New Year’s Eve, playing a Visotsky’s song with your guitar, reading Dostoyevsky in the original, and living your life in Russian with the same curiosity and excitement that you would live your life in your own mother tongue. If you do all the above, fluency stops being the goal. You just live an interesting life. To give another analogy here. The point is not how much money you make but what you do with your money, how much more happiness you get by having a little bit more money. Ask yourself: “How can I enjoy my Russian today?” You may want to watch a Russian film with English subtitles. Yes, you read right - English subtitles. I mean, don’t kill yourself making everything feel like studying. Now, if you get pleasure by watching a film and writing down every single word and phrase, then do that! It’s up to you. Don’t listen to me, don’t listen to anyone. Everybody has their own thresholds. If you make the experience enjoyable, you’ll both enjoy the journey and you’ll get to your destination (speak Russian very well) a lot faster. 🇷🇺 All my Tips and Secrets for those who travel to Russia 👉 http://bit.ly/2ANZzTK 💰 $480 Discount on Russian Language Lessons in Russia? For example, in the forest - в лесу (лес becomes лесу) Я живу в лесу. - I live in the forest. Where? In the forest. В лесу. in the garden - в саду (сад becomes саду) Дети играют в саду. - The kids are playing in the garden. in the year - в году (год becomes году) К сожалению, День Рождения только раз в году. - Unfortunately, you have your birthday only once in a year.  The ending in -у is always stressed. в годУ - в лесУ - в садУ. More nouns that fall in this category: угол (corner) - в углу шкаф (cupboard) - в шкафу пол (floor) - на полу глаз (eye) - в глазу час (hour) - в часу берег (shore) - на берегу мост (bridge) - на мосту Guys, attention, attention! We use this ending -у only when we ask the question where or when. Где? Когда? In all the other cases we use the common ending -е to form the prepositional case. For example, Я говорю о лесе. - I'm talking about the forest.  Я говорю об этом годе. -  I'm talking about this year.

Hello Ulia, it's me, Angelos. How are you? Да, хорошо, нормально. Yes, fine, ok. Да, я еду, я еду. Yes, I'm coming, I'm coming. Но слушай, я опаздываю чуть-чуть, наверно, я буду там через час, нормально? But listen, I'm a little late; maybe I'll be there in an hour, is it ok? Ребята, всем привет! Hello guys! Привет! Hello! Со мной сегодня Уля, Уля преподает русский язык в Киеве. There is Ulia with me today; Ulia teaches Russian language in Kyiv. Сколько лет ты преподаешь русский? How many years do you teach Russian? Уже седьмой год. It's seventh year already. Семь лет. У неё есть большой опыт преподавания русского языка! Seven years. She has a lot of experience in teaching Russian! У меня сегодня к тебе есть пару вопросов. I have a couple questions for you today. Отлично! Perfect! Ну что, начнем? So, let's start? Я готова. I'm ready. Зачем изучать русский язык? Продай мне русский язык, пожалуйста. Why learn Russian? Sell me Russian language please. Продам, с удовольствием, без проблем. I'll sell gladly, no problem. Во-первых, на русском говорят около 300 миллионов человек, большинство которых проживают в 15 постсоветских странах. 300 миллионов человек! First of all, there are 300 million people who speak Russian, most of whom live in 15 post-Soviet countries. 300 million people! Также русский язык занимает второе место по числу научных публикаций. Например, в области химии, физики, математики и так далее. Also, in Russian there is the second largest number of scientific publications. For example, in chemistry, physics, mathematics and so on. Также, как мы знаем, очень много известных личностей в области балета, театра, литературы также были россияне. Also, as we know, a lot of well-known people in ballet, theatre, literature were Russians. Вот, например, Лермонтов - известный русский писатель и поэт, мой любимый автор. Вот, я вам дарю эту книжку, я надеюсь, что она вам очень понравится. Here, for example, Lermontov - famous Russian writer and poet, my favourite author. Here, I give you this book; I hope you will really like it. Спасибо, Уля, спасибо! Thank you Ulia, thank you! Там есть стихотворения… There are poems in it… Спасибо, Уля. Это старая книжка… Thank you, Ulia. The book is old… Да, очень старая, 85 года, я ещё не родилась тогда. Yes, it's very old, published in '85, I wasn't born than. Вообще, Россия - это один из крупнейших мировых поставщиков нефти, газа. In general, Russia is one of the world's largest suppliers of oil and gas. Также очень часто русский язык используют в бизнесе. Also, Russian language is often used in business. Например, у меня были студенты, которые изучали русский, потому что... скажем, им давали больше зарплаты, если они знали русский язык. То есть, это тоже плюс для работы. For example, I had students who studied Russian because… say, they were given more salary if they knew Russian. That is, it's also a plus for a job. В принципе, русский язык можно изучать уже потому, что на нем говорили такие люди как Маяковский, Достоевский, Чехов и так далее. В общем, большой-большой длинный ряд людей. Basically, you can learn Russian just because people like Mayakovskiy, Dostoyevskiy, Chekhov and others spoke it. Generally, it's big and long row of people. Поэтому покупайте, пожалуйста So buy please Спасибо, я куплю  Thank you, I'll buy Какие самые распространенные ошибки делают ученики? What are the most common mistakes students make? Что касается, например, лексики, часто путают такие слова как мужчина и машина, всегда. As for the vocabulary, for example, they often confuse words like мужчина (man) and машина (car), always. Я стараюсь проводить параллель, я показываю Супермена - это настоящий мужчина и у него есть машина, Феррари. Очень классно! I try to draw a parallel, I show Superman - this is a real мужчина and he has машина Ferrari. Very cool! Плюс: мужчина - можно сделать ассоциацию со словом муж. Муж - жена, муж - мужчина, то есть по логике они созвучны. Plus: мужчина - you can make an association with the word муж

Russian Women talk about Men, Dating, Marriage, Family, Values, Money

26:13
In this video I ask random Russian girls in St. Petersburg, Russia to tell me about how they think, what is the mentality of a Russian girl, what they like in a man, what are their values, etc. Since I started making videos talking to random people on the street, a lot of you guys have been asking me to coach you on how to meet Russian girls, how to approach a Russian girl on the street, how to talk to them. My site is not a Russian Dating site and I was sceptical initially. However, I was convinced by some of you to coach you online or face-to-face in Ukraine or Russia. The results have been really amazing and I'm happy to see a lot of you feel confident and achieve your goal meeting Russian women. This video is dedicated to all the students that I have coached that love the Russian culture and language and also wanted to find their other half in Russia. I have also created a guide on how to talk to Russian girls with useful vocabulary for those who date or are planning to date a Russian woman. You can find it here http://explorerussian.com/russian-girlfriend/ There you’ll also find information about my coaching. ATTENTION: I work only with people that love the Russian culture, respect women and want to find a partner to share their life with. My students are not interested in picking up Russian girls and manipulating them. My students are looking for a romantic, healthy, deep relationship. 🇷🇺 All my Tips and Secrets for those who travel to Russia 👉 http://bit.ly/2ANZzTK 💰 $480 Discount on Russian Language Lessons in Russia? Arsenalnaya Station, Kiev - Deepest station in the world

02:49
Arsenalnaya is a station on Kiev's metro red line. I had been told a few times that it was the deepest metro station in Europe. Today, while I was getting off at the Arsenalnaya station, I decided to ask these youngsters about the depth of the station. They didn't know, they started guessing and after we googled it (yes, there is Internet signal in the deepest station of the world!!) we found that the depth of the station is 105m! According to Wikipedia it's the deepest station in the world! ;)

Russians, love confession and St. Valentine's Day!

Press [cc] for subtitles!!!! Hi Explorussians, What does the day of St. Valentine mean to Russians? How do Russians confess their love? What is their favourite love poem? To answer the above questions, I asked a few people on the streets of St. Petersburg. To be honest, it was probably the most difficult video I have ever done. Because love is a personal thing and we prefer to keep it deeply inside us. Probably, that's even more true for Russian people. Thanks to all who shared with us all these personal feelings and stories. С днём влюбленных! Angelos Explore Russian

NEW COURSE - Learn the Russian Cases through One Film!

01:39
**** Get Access to the course here http://explorerussian.com/learn-russian-cases-one-film/ ‎ **** Hi guys, I’m Angelos, the creator of Explore Russian which makes learning Russian fun through videoblogs with random people on the street, songs, films, and other unique learning resources. I am also the author of the books Learn Russian Diversified, Learn Russian Survival Phrases, and My Girlfriend Teaches me Russian. You can find all these books on Amazon. The Cases are the most difficult part of the Russian Grammar. It’s what makes Russian Learners usually give up on learning the language. I learned the Russian Cases through one Russian film, the most popular Russian film that Russians watch every year on the New Year’s Eve. I’m talking of course about the Irony of Fate, Ирония судьбы in Russian. It took me 3 months to learn Russian. The University of Oxford found my learning resources online and invited me to give a talk in June 2015. You can watch this talk on YouTube by searching my name plus Oxford University. In the talk I explain exactly how one can learn Russian optimally through watching films. https://youtu.be/ifqCO3qKHxg In this course, you will learn the Russian Cases in context. I have collected loads of examples for each Russian Case (Genitive, Dative, Accusative, Instrumental) throughout the entire film. I have categorised every example not only by Case but also by the specific use for each Case. Plus, I explain in both video and text how the Case is formed from the initial form of word (Nominative Case - the dictionary form). I love the Russian language and since 2016 I’ve been living in St. Petersburg making videoblogs with people on the streets. It was a beautiful sunny day today in St. Petersburg! I was walking along my favourite street in the centre, Фурштатская улица. I often see elderly people sit on the benches along this street. I had this idea to ask them what is Русская душа - Russian soul. Enjoy the video! Angelos Explore Russian

Нежность - Три тополя на Плющихе (cover)

01:29
I filmed this a year ago in London. The song is from a beautiful film called Три тополя на Плющихе. Special thanks to Лидия Сидорова for introducing me to this song. For more Russian songs with translation and analysis read here http://explorerussian.com/category/learn-russian-through-songs/ Watch here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdR7ldYyD9M This is a version with
