Vengeance - F-35 Music Video

F-35 Music Video
Song is Bullet Proof Skin by Institute. Footage is courtesy of sschulak07, MilitaryCorps, Hyakusiki, Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Collins and Northrop Grumman. I decided to do this one up after stumbling upon some soundtrack songs from the movie Stealth and after viewing footage of the first flight of Australia's first F-35A; now seemed an opportune time considering how much footage has become available of late. Footage of the JDAM strike ~1/3 was not related to the F-35, but was representative of the jet's internal 2x 2000lb bomb payload. Footage of the air to air kill was of an F-15 shooting down a QF-4 target drone using an AIM-120 AMRAAM.

Flying IndiaFoxtEcho's F-35 v3 for Prepar3D 2.5
The creator's blog: http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com.au/ The audio and some graphics are a bit weird because I was running the simulator at 0.25x speed, in order to get a higher recorded framerate and to help me operate the displays / controls a bit easier (flying was done via a flight stick, a keyboard was used for some controls, a mouse was used to (alternately) control the camera and to also interact with the cockpit displays. With a 4GHz i5 CPU, two AMD HD7970 (3GB each) GPUs, 16GB of RAM and a 1GB/s SSD, I get about 15fps on high detail settings.

Arrival of the Netherlands' F-35s
The first two F-35As of the Netherlands, F-001 (AN-1) and F-002 (AN-2), arrived in the Netherlands at approximately 8:45pm on 23 May 2016. The song is a cut of Esselfortium - Light of the Soul. A previous version of this video was uploaded about 15 minutes before this one, but I had initially left out the fly-by engine noise and wanted to make that change.

Tailhook 2017 Symposium - Update on F-35C testing from LM test pilot
-Part 1- Lockheed test pilot Tony "Brick" Wilson speaks at the Tailhook 2017 Symposium, giving an update on the F-35C's test program. Of note - at 1:15 Tony mentions that an F-35C (the draggiest of all 3 variants) with a full external payload can still break the sound barrier. New OLED displays for the F-35's HMDS helmet look set to eliminate green glow, and in exercises, F-35Cs have been achieving 24:1 kill ratios.

F-35Cs arrive on the USS Eisenhower for DT-II testing
The F-35 Lightning II Program is conducting its second developmental test (DT-II) at sea. While aboard USS Eisenhower (CVN 69) from October 2-15, the Pax River Integrated Test Force (ITF) will test F-35C carrier suitability and integration in the at-sea environment. The test team will achieve this objective through a series of test events designed to gradually expand the aircraft operating envelope at sea. Shipboard testing delivers the opportunity to conduct routine F-35C operations while embarked on an aircraft carrier. The F-35C will perform a variety of operational maneuvers during DT-II — including catapult takeoffs and arrested landings — while simulating maintenance operations and conducting general maintenance and fit tests for the aircraft and support equipment. Following the analysis of DT-II test data, the team will conduct a thorough assessment of the F-35C’s performance in the shipboard environment before advising the Navy on any adjustments necessary to ensure that the fifth-generation fighter is ready to meet its scheduled IOC in 2018. F-35A AF-2 First Gun Live Fire
AF-2 First Gun Live Fire 9 June 2015 Test # 736 Test Pilot Maj. Andrew Rollins 10 rounds are fired. The 25mm GAU-22/A produced by General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is an externally powered Gatling gun selected for installation in the F-35 Lightning II fighter. GD-OTS developed the GAU-22/A for both the internal and external F-35 gun systems. This four-barrel gun is a derivative of the highly successful five-barrel, 25mm GAU-12/U gun also developed and built by GD-OTS Each of the four gun barrels has a breech bolt assembly that fires once per gun revolution. This ensures long barrel and breech life by distributing the heat and firing forces over all four barrels and breech positions. Continuous rotary motion reduces the impact loads on gun components, extending parts life and resulting in extremely high gun reliability. The GAU-22/A is over 40 pounds lighter and occupies 20 percent less volume than the comparably equipped 5-barrel counterpart. The gun is easily configured to mount in either the F-35A internal gun system installation or the F-35B/C missionized gun pods. The demonstrated versatility, coupled with significant combat lethality, makes the GAU-22/A gun an ideal candidate for air, land and sea platforms requiring an effective weapon for a variety of missions against a broad range of targets. Gun type: Four-barrel, 25mm, externally powered Gatling Gun Weight: 230 pounds (104.3 kg) Rate of fire: Up to 3,300 shots per minute Dispersion: 5 milliradians diameter, 80 percent circle (1.4 milliradians, 1-sigma radius) Average recoil force: 3,700 pounds (16.5 kN) Muzzle velocity (TP, HEI ammunition): 3,560 feet (1,085m) per second (API ammunition): 3,400 feet (1,036m) per second Drive system: Hydraulic, electric, pneumatic Feed system: Linked or linkless
