The Ultramind Solution is a great book that talks about the link between our food and our brainchemistry and mood. Not a lot of people know that are nutritional habits affect our neurotransmitters and as a result, influence our psychology, mood and can even change our personality! He also has some anecdotal evidence that his diet can even reverse cancer and some real evidence that it can prevent it. His "fasting mimicking" diet gets prescribted to cancer patients together with chemotherapy, so effective are his principles. Really check this one out if you want to get the newest knowledge about longevity, disease prevention and overall nutrition in general. You can also combine L-Theanine with Caffeine. L-Theanine will take out the "Jitteriness" of the caffeine and give you a very chill and calm focus. The second supplement I want to talk about is Vitamin D. Vitamin D is known to increase testosterone and also help you to be happy since it's needed to produce the neurotransmitter serotonin. For this specific video I had the GREAT pleasure to meet Mario Tomic, my favorite Youtuber in the field of fitness and personal-development, he is the living example of what it means to know human psychology regarding habits & motivation and how to use that knowledge for achieving your goals. So let's get to the meat and potatoes here: Why will most people never reach their goals? Why will most people always be broke? Why will your dreams be flush down the toilet like a piece of toilet paper? Because you guys still think it's all about discipline but the problem is, EVERYBODY THINKS THAT. And that's the reason why everybody is broke, fat and unhappy. Most people don't understand how to tap into their motivation and how to build proper habits. If you rely on discipline which is basically a finite resource, you will always run out of it. Discipline is basically similar to willpower, which runs out at the end of the day, always when you need to make a decision, a decision about which shirt to wear, which food to eat, which item to shop next...every time you do that you lose some precious willpower and the WORST thing is, you think you need more discipline to get shit done...YOU DON'T. You just need to know how to build proper habits. Habits will ensure you to do the things you need to do on a automatic basis without thinking about it, in the beginning you just need willpower to start incorporating the habit into your life, as soon as the habit is "installed" you don't need any willpower anymore and then you can focus on building the next habit. So when I focus on building new habits into my life I focus on not wasting too much "activation" energy to perform the new behavior. Example: Let's say you want to meditate every morning, instead of needing to stand up, dress myself, sit down on a pillow and then meditate I just make sure that I put my ass on my pillow on my bed and meditate IMMEDIATELY after waking up. Then if you have installed this habit after around two months you can focus on building the next one. Or let's say you want to start making YouTube-Videos...set up your camera the day before so you just need to press the play button. Be creative but don't think you need more discipline to be successful or even worse...that you need more MOTIVATION...that's just bullshit social conditioning...almost everybody believes that and that's the reason why almost everybody will never be successful. This Supplement will BOOST your CONFIDENCE, TESTOSTERONE and LONGEVITY || Ashwagandha Review (2018) Today I want to talk about Ashwagandha and how this supplement basically changed my life. Before I started taking that amazing supplement, I didn't even realize how stressed I was...first I stopped drinking coffee but unfortunately I was still stressed and had higher cortisol levels in my day to day life. One day then, I googled a way to boost and increase my testosterone, since I was so stressed that I really felt it decreasing my sex drive and libido. So, Ashwagandha popped into my head since I saw it in the kitchen of one of my friends back when I was in Miami. Without thinking about it I started researching and I realized how great Ashwagandha actually is! Scientific research showed that it decreases cortisol levels by over 30%! Just from a herb! I was mind blown. There were also studies talking about Ashwagandha increasing testosterone levels and boosting libido in men, so I gave it a try. To be honest, after trying it I was even more mindblown...as I say in the video...I finally felt like myself again! Way less stressed, less worries in my head and more action taking towards my goals. You live really more calm and driven if you are less stressed, you can focus on things that really matter. Regarding the DOSAGE: I would start with 500mg-1000mg a day and then take more if needed, dosage till 6000mg are pretty safe. What is also interesting is that Ashwagandha is also known for decreasing the risk of cancer later on, which is also a cool benefit. So all in all Ashwagandha is an awesome supplement to boost your testosterone, boost your confidence, reduce stress, reduce anxiety and even make you more grounded and reverse depression! First 20 Year Long Monkey Study Reveals The KEY To Longevity In this video I want to talk about the "Longevity Diet" again. Because there are some studies out there that were conducted with monkeys. They used caloric restriction to study their lifespan. There aren't any long-term caloric restriction studies published with human beings but we have some with primates. You can call these findings longevity secrets since you don't hear from these studies very often. We also know other studies that show similar results just with a protein restriction and even just with a methionine restriction. Which are very surprising findings if you ask me. We also have studies that go into the direction of saying that intermittent fasting could be a key to longevity. Also to mention valter longo his work regarding the fasting mimicking diet and his valter longo longevity diet. But this is a topic for another longevity video. I already mentioned mtor, igf1 and other hormones in relationship with the longevity diet. Professor Valter Longo also talks about this in his newest research and also in his newest book that is based on his fasting mimicking diet which may also lead to a longer lifespan and could also be called the longevity diet. How to gain muscle on the Longevity Diet feat. Valter Longo (mtor, igf1 & protein restriction) In today's video I want to talk about Valter Longo and his Longevity Diet and how to increase your lifespan naturally through some lifestyle and nutrition changes. I already talked about Valter Longo in another video. His basic hypothesis is that a higher protein intake will lead to a higher intake of the amino acid leucine, which will lead to an overactivation of pathway's such as mtor and igf-1, which will lead to a shorter lifespan. Today I want to talk about something special, today I want to talk about how you can still increase your lifespan and optimize your personal longevity diet on a higher protein intake. I know that a lot of you still want to go to the gym and make gains and this will not be the case if you just follow a low protein and protein restricted diet like Valter Longo talks about in his book. Back in the day we just thought that a caloric restriction leads to a higher lifespan, later we found out that a protein restriction will lead to a similar outcome BUT a lot of us still want to make some gains in the gym. What we also believed for a long time is that fasting for a long time will also lead to a increase in lifespan, so a lot of people started to implement Intermittent Fasting, which is in my opinion a good tool to improve your health but it still needs to be tested if this is a good choice since the definition of Intermittent Fasting still needs to be clarified regarding to Valter Longo (increased times of daily fasting can also give you diminishing returns regarding to Longo). So today, after reading the longevity diet several times, I want to talk about my own personal approach that I also use for all the clients that I coach. I found a pretty good way to combine Valter Longo's Longevity Diet with my own lifestyle choice of going to the gym and still making the best gains possible. I also included a Interview Segment of Valter Longo talking about eating more protein and going to the gym while following his longevity diet, its a video that the YouTube Channel High Intensity Health posted: https://bit.ly/2A4Cy02 The interesting thing is that a Vegan Diet may also lead to an increased lifespan since you automatically don't consume animal protein which is automatically higher in the amino acids leucine and will by that also increase your lifespan. That's the reason why I either lower my protein intake to the minimum I need to make gains and build muscle or just switch completely to a vegan diet to make sure I automatically consume less leucine. But this is a topic for another video! Ashwagandha + what !? || The new LIMITLESS PILL of 2018 for ULTIMATE BRAINPOWER AND PERFORMANCE So today I want to talk about Ashwagandha again. As you can probably tell...I'm in LOVE with that herb. It's my introduction to biohacking and a great biohack for beginners, I'm confident to say that its one of the best biohacks for health and cognitive enhancement out there. As I was already talking about in my first Ashwagandha-Video, Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb, which means that I will decrease your cortisol and make you more chill in case you are too stressed. On the other side, if you are low energy and don't have a lot of drive it will actually increase your energy levels... So far so good. Now what I started doing is that I combined Ashwagandha with caffeine, in my case coffee (I wouldn't take any caffeine supplements because they are too concentrated and can hurt you in the long run). What happened then was pretty amazing, because the coffee made me always to jittery and nervous. So I was high energy but I had to pay a high cost (since I'm very sensitive to caffeine). So then I added 0.5g-1g of Ashwagandha to my coffee...and it decreased my nervousness and I was automatically less jittery and more grounded. I quickly realized that this is a basic nootropic stack. The Ashwagandha makes you chill and grounded + the coffee increases your energy and enthusiasm. So let me know if you've ever tried this or what your favorite nootropic stacks are. The UNTOLD TRUTH about Fat-Loss In today's video I want to talk about the untold truth about fat-loss. Because there are a lot of myths out there regarding decreasing your bodyfat and bodyfat percentage. So in this video I want to explain you what to do if you want to lose fat or better to say what NOT to do. Because what a lot of people will do when they want to lose fat and lose bodyfat is CARDIO. Now you might ask: Why is cardio so bad? Cardio is not bad but the one form of cardio is bad. What you should not do is add let's say three INTENSE cardio sessions on top of your resistance training or even worse skip one resistance training session and replace it with cardio. This will just decrease the overall workload you will do through your week and your body will see a reason to lose muscle mass since he is already in a caloric deficite. So instead what I recommend to my clients is walking instead of jogging or high intensity training, if you want to cut down to 10% bodyfat and not below, which will make you look insanely lean. What walking does it that it helps you to get rid of all the cortisol that you already have because you are cutting and it will also help you to recover because of the reason it decreases your cortisol. What you can also do while walking is listening to an audiobook or a podcast which will even make you more productive in the long run. So really, there is no reason to do a lot of unecessary cardio that just burns 200-400kcal, instead, eat these calories less or just go for a walk that may take two times longer than the jogging but will helo you to recover better. Cancer is a really terrible disease and also something I'm afraid of to be honest, so I see it as my mission to educate you in this regard and to show you some simple things you can start doing RIGHT NOW to decrease your risk of getting cancer. The first thing that you need to know is that cancer is influenced by IGF-1, IGF-1 is also called "Insulin Growth Factor One" and is a hormone that is anabolic and induces growth. So during our youth we need a lot of this hormone to grow and to just develop in a healthy way. We still need that hormone of course, at our age, everything is about balance but the problem is that the amount of IGF-1 that is circulating in our bodies nowadays I just too much for most of us. With more and more time these high IGF-1 levels can cause diesease and faster aging. Because IGF-1 induces growth it also induces growth of "bad" cells in our bodies, so if you already have some bad cell mutations, these mutations will grow and spread and over the years this can lead to cancer cells and tumors. I don't want to scare you of course but it's still something we need to be aware of. So what increases IGF-1 the most? 1) Diary and Milk Products. All diary products contain a high amount of the amino acid leucine, which activates IGF-1 the most. The irony is that cow milk contains around THREE TIMES MORE leucine than human milk. I mean its quite logical, the purpose of milk is to make cow babies grow but why should we drink milk of another animal? Especially when we are already adults? 2) Meat and Fish also contain more leucine. If you look at the Okinawa's for example, their diet just contained around 4% of animal products, so 4% of their daily calories came from animal products, which means around 60-100kcal a day! Of course you can't just go with this one example but in reality all the blue zones (longest living populations) had around the same plant to animal product ratio in their diet. 3) Every isolated protein source that is processed contains more leucine and will be digested faster so that it will spike IGF-1 more, even plant based protein shakes and meat replacement-products. That's the reason I will stop drinking protein shakes and just build muscle on a plant based diet to make sure I can mantain healthy IGF-1 levels and optimize my life more regarding longevity and slowing down the aging process. But I don't want to scare you, everything I tell you is just a suggestion, what you do with that is totally your choice. So I hope I was able to give you guys some insights in this topic! There are some clinical experts, one of them Dr.Michael Greger from Nutritionfacts.org, that are against the consumption of animal protein. Some of the reasons are: Animal Protein elevates growth pathways such as IGF-1 and mTor which are linked to increased cancer risk. Because Animal Protein contains more of the amino acid Leucin your liver will produce more IGF-1 and your cells will proliferate and grow more as a result. We all need IGF-1 to live long and healthy life's but if we produce too much of it it has adverse effects for our health. As I said, high IGF-1 levels lead to the result that our cells will grow and proliferate more, unfortunately also damaged cells and cancer cells which will increase your risk of developing one of these diseases later in your Life. Also worth mentioning is that animal protein contains more of the amino acid Methionine which is linked to a shorter lifespan (in mice and other organism not in humans yet) and also linked to cancer cell growth. Methionine restriction has been a proved method to reverse cancer in some clinical trials. So just for being safe I decided to consume just plant protein and not animal protein anymore. Since I'm not a raw vegan bodybuilder and don't brand myself as a "vegan" I still believe that a vegan diet is an awesome thing and has his place in today's society, especially if you want to optimize longevity and health in your life. One of my subscriber called "John Doe" asked about my opinion on his last video, so I decided to create a little response video. He talks about a high protein intake and how this will help you make gains, which I totally agree to but the problem is that a very high protein intake also contains a high amount of the amino acid leucine which will activate growth pathways such as mtor and IGF-1 to a high degree which is shown to have the possibility to decrease your lifespan and increase the risk of various diseases, such as cancer for example. So in this video I talk about building muscle on a plant based vegan diet and how to still optimize for longevity and have the best of both worlds, in my humble opinion. It's also a pretty interesting video if you are interested in raw veganism and how bobby was able to build muscle on a raw vegan diet since he was very into it back in the day and also made a lot of videos about it. In other videos he also talks about how he was able to get his protein on his raw vegan diet. How to become the SUPERHUMAN that NEVER GETS SICK || Superimmunity by Joel Fuhrman (Book Review) In today's video I want to talk about the book "Superimmunity" by Joel Fuhrman, he has also written other amazing books such as "eat to live" which I will present in another video. This book is pretty simple but also pretty powerful. He talks about how to not get sick and how to strengthen your immune system and overall immunity. The interesting thing is, if your strengthen your immune system, you don't just stop to get colds, you also decrease the risk for various diseases such as cancer, so our immune system plays also an important role in cancer prevention. How does this work? By strengthening your immune system with phytonutrients, phytochemicals and antioxidants you will be able to neutralize oxidative stress in your body by neutralizing free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that get formed when we get toxins in our bodies or also experience different stressors. These free radicals are highly reactive and can damage our cells and macronutrients in our food. They damage them because they have an unpaired electron that is highly reactive. But by eating phytochemicals, phytonutrients and antioxidants with our diet we will neutralize these free radicals by binding to their unpaired electron. So we just need to now where to get these antioxidants, phytonutrients and phytochemicals. Funny enough, they are mostly present in green leafy vegetables such as broccoli, kale, spinach but also berries and in a lesser degree in fruits and other plant foods. They give these plant foods their color, so the more darker the blue, red and green of these foods is, the better. What also helps against free radicals is the compound sulforaphane that is present in all cruciferous vegetables. By crushing, chewing or chopping these vegetables we will activate a chemical reaction that will release this compound. If you cook these vegetables first you won't get that compound. So as a general advice: Eat them raw or crush/chop them (destroy the cell walls) before you cook them. Last but not least the author talks about his nutrition pyramid, which I'm a big fan of. He calls himself a "nutritarian" and not a "vegan" or something because his overall view on food and eating is pretty simple: Eat food with the highest micronutrient and antioxidant density. Which basically means stick to food that is naturally produced, not processed and mostly plant-based, he advocates a diet of max 10% calories coming from animal products. The reason being is that a steak doesn't contain antioxidants (almost none) and by limiting your animal product consumption you will automatically eat more plants and get more antioxidants, phytochemicals and phytonutrients in your diet. How to design your own SCIENTIFIC Workout Routine In this video I want to show you how to design your own scientific workout routine and what the best scientific workout routine actually is. When it comes to the best scientific workout plan and the best workout routine you need to ask yourself several questions: The first one should be: 1) How many times can I go to the gym per week? If you know that you have a pretty consistent workout routine because what does it help to have the best scientific workout routine without being able to actually stick to it? The second question you should ask yourself is: 2) How can I design a routine so I'm increasing my training frequency Study show that a training frequency of 2-3x a week will give you the best results, which means that you should train every muscle 2 to 3 times a week. So for example, if you know that you can go to the gym three times a week you should chose a fullbody workout because then you will be able to hit every muscle three times a week, which is in this range of 2-3x a week. Then the last question should be: What exercises should I choose? And here you should totally focus on compound exercises that will hit the most muscles at the same time, so exercises like: Bench Press, Squat, Deadlift, Military Press, Pull ups and Rows should be your pick where the bunch of your sets should come from so for example: Monday: Bench Press, Squat, , Rows Military Press Wednesday: Incline Bench, Deadlift, Rows, Lateral Raise Friday: Bench Press, Legpress, Pull Ups So as you can see, from this point on you can be pretty creative. Jordan Peterson is only eating MEAT! The Carnivore Diet is taking over! It is official guys! Jordan Peterson is only eating meat and is on a carnivore diet now. A pretty interesting change if you ask me. I know that he was on a keto diet before, he never tried a vegan diet but he was on a kind of ketogenic diet before. After seeing his daugther Mikhalia Peterson curing her depression with a carnivore diet, he tried it as well and is on that type of diet now. He also mentioned this on the Joe Rogan podcast, where also Shawn Baker was recently on, where both talked about their carnivore diet and their carnivore diet results. Its a pretty interesting topic because it seems that this carnivore diet may help with mental health and depression but again, diet changes have shown to improve mental health for YEARS. So I don't actually believe that a meat only diet might be the best thing for that. Also something you need to consider is the fact that a Carnivore Diet is highly restrictive and black and white, which means that its pretty easy to become deficient in certain nutrients, like with every other restrictive diet. That's the reason why I'm also not a fan of a purely vegan diet without taking any supplements because the fact of the matter is, you will become deficient in Vitamin B12 and even other stuff like Omega 3 fatty acids if you do it wrong. So in today's video I share my opinion about this meat only diet aka Carnivore Diet and want to show you Jordan Peterson's , Mikhalia Peterson's and also Vegetable Police's results. I always try to become the best trainer, coach and overal nutrition expert that I can become so for me its super interesting to see other people that are on restrictive diets, there is always something to learn from others, even though I don't really like their approach. A lot of people still think that there is a "perfect" macronutrient ratio that will make your lean bulk even better and more successful. But the reality is, there isn't really. The most important thing you should look for are your overall calories, for lean bulking you should be in a caloric surplus, this is the first thing. The second priority should be your protein intake. If you just want to build muscle and don't care too much about health then these are the only things you should worry about. If you worry about health as well, then also optimize your fat intake, consume plant fats mostly, look at your Omega 6 to Omega 3 fatty acid ratio... But this is a topic for another video. I'm very happy with the result to be honest, I gained 3kg (7lbs) in 6 weeks in a very clean way. Now I am cutting and preparing myself to really get in shape for my next travel to the U.S I'm planning to cut for 6 weeks (kcal deficite on 6 days a week) so lets see what I can do in these 6 weeks! The calculations I was talking about in the video: Estimation of bodyfat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo2sCdkVel8 After that, substract your Bodyfat-Mass from your Bodyweight, so let's say you weight 150lbs and estimate your bodyfat at 15%: 150lbs x 0.85 = 127.5lbs of lean body mass = ca. 130g of protein to consume in a cut (more or less) In kilograms: 65kg of bodyweight, 15% of bodyfat = 55kg of lean body mass = 55kg x 2.2g = 120g of protein (in my case) I hope the calculations were helpful!
