Gaelic for Outlanders: Whisky (Lesson 3)
Fáilte! It's "Gaelic for Outlanders" time, so drag yourself out of that Wednesday despair and get ready to learn! As it's whisky month, we decided use whisky as our topic for this week's lesson. You probably know that whisky is also called the 'water of life', but did you know that is because 'whisky' comes from the Gaelic 'uisge-beatha' which translates to - you guessed it - water of life. To find out more about Scotland's national drink, check out our blog: http://ow.ly/Nuuxl

Connoisseurs Choice Strathmill, Single Malt Scotch Whisky by Gordon & MacPhail
Watch our tasting note video for Connoisseurs Choice Strathmill, Single Malt Scotch Whisky by Stuart Urquhart and Richard Urquhart from Gordon & MacPhail. In the 1960's George Urquhart took the unprecedented step of bottling a range of whiskies under the Connoisseurs Choice name which offered an opportunity to explore tastes of Single Malts which 'normally' would have been used to create blends. 'Connoisseurs Choice, Strathmill' Single Malt Scotch Whisky by Gordon & MacPhail is sweet vanilla with hints of honey and green apple aromas. The palate is peppery initially with ripe banana, orange and milk chocolate flavours. Gordon & MacPhail is located in the north-east of Scotland in the heart of the world famous whisky producing region of Speyside. It is an independent family owned and managed firm which has been bottling single malt whiskies for over 120 years. From its humble beginnings as a retailer, Gordon and MacPhail has grown to become a diverse and dynamic company with a number of different business interests. Today the company is a retailer, wholesaler, exporter and bottler of single malt Scotch whisky.

Bushmills Distillery Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
This video for Bushmills Distillery Vacation Travel Guide is one of our older productions, but we wanted to share it with you to get some feedback on how these older clips compare to the more recent travel guides we’ve shot. Below are some links to those recent videos. Feel free to compare with this clip and comment below to let us know which ones you prefer, and what else you’d love to see from Expedia on YouTube! St. Petersburg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3ISUUO0CSo Kyoto: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd1wzlwtKJ0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you’re ready to sample some legendary whiskey, head to Bushmills Distillery. Located in northern Ireland, your Bushmills Distillery tour isn’t just a stroll through an active liquor factory—it’s actually an exploration of the oldest distillery in the world. In 1608, Bushmills was the first to be granted a whiskey license. It’s been producing “the water of life” ever since, despite a number of challenges, including the malt tax of the 1850s and a catastrophic fire in 1885. Following the latter incident, Bushmills Distillery rebuilt and quickly got back to producing its alcoholic beverages. Bushmills Distillery still produces a number of Irish whiskeys on-site, but has also turned into a popular tourist destination for whiskey lovers and those who are curious about local history. Bushmills Distillery sightseeing includes a visit to the Mixing Room, where ingredients begin their journey toward whiskey. The Fermentation Hall is where the yeast is added to the mixture, and then there’s the Distillery itself, which is home to numerous copper pot stills. These items combined give Bushmills its unique taste, and are featured prominently on the brand’s label. You can also check out the Cask Room and Bottling Room, among others. Don’t forget to say hello to the Grey Lady, a reportedly friendly spirit that supposedly inhabits the grounds. When are you planning to visit Bushmills Distillery? 25 things to do in Dublin Travel Guide
So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland. GEAR WE USE Olympus OM-D E-M5 II: http://amzn.to/1OchS7t Canon G7X: http://amzn.to/1YdjsYX Olympus 14-150mm II Lens: http://amzn.to/1Y79zeM Rode Video Mic GO: http://amzn.to/1WDKtVM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instragram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ 1) Trinity College (Irish: Coláiste na Tríonóide) 2) Phoenix Park (Irish: Páirc an Fhionnuisce) 3) Guinness Storehouse 4) Grafton Street Shopping District 5) Irish Coffee vs Bailey's Coffee (Irish: caife Gaelach) 6) National Botanic Gardens (Irish: Garraithe Náisiúnta na Lus) 7) Glasnevin Cemetery (Irish: Reilig Ghlas Naíon) 8) Experience Gaelic Games (Hurling & Gaelic Football) 9) Monument to Oscar Wilde 10) Old Jameson Distillery 11) The Brazen Head Pub - Oldest Pub in Dublin 12) Dublinia Museum 13) Saint Patrick's Cathedral (Irish: Ard-Eaglais Naomh Pádraig) 14) National Museum of Ireland (Irish: Ard-Mhúsaem na hÉireann) 15) Temple Bar 16) Nightlife in Dublin 17) Irish stew (Irish: stobhach / Stobhach Gaelach) 18) Irish Whiskey Museum 19) St Stephen's Green (Irish: Faiche Stiabhna) 20) St. Audeon's Gate 21) Dublin Castle (Irish: Caisleán Bhaile Átha Cliath) 22) Irish Museum of Modern Art (Irish: Áras Nua-Ealaíne na hÉireann) - IMMA 23) Kilmainham Gaol (Irish: Príosún Chill Mhaighneann) 24) Liffey river walk & Grand canal walk 25) St. Michael's Tower Our visit Dublin travel guide covers some of the top attractions including the best in arts, entertainment, museums, nightlife and restaurants. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't find in your typical tourism brochure or Dublin city guide. 25 things to do in Dublin Ireland | Top Attractions Travel Guide Video Transcript: Trinity College was founded in 1592 and it is the oldest university in Ireland. The campus is open to visitors interested in touring the grounds, and you'll also get to hear some fascinating stories of famous students, including the likes of Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, and Bram Stoker. The Guinness Storehouse is Dublin's most popular attraction, and it's a must-visit for beer lovers. The Storehouse covers seven floors surrounding a glass atrium shaped like a pint of Guinness. Inside you'll also find a copy of the 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur Guinness on the brewery site - they won't be going anywhere for a while! Grafton Street is one of the main shopping areas in Dublin. You're likely to find lots of musicians, buskers, and performers along here, plus you get a good vantage point of The Spire. Prior to the establishment of Glasnevin Cemetery, Irish Catholics had no place of their own to bury their dead. This burial ground gave both Irish Catholics and Protestants a place where they could give their dead dignified burial, and it has since become the resting place for people of all religions and non religions. Experience Gaelic Games is a place where you can come and try traditional Irish sports like hurling and Gaelic football. The Old Jameson Distillery is the original site where Jameson Irish Whiskey was distilled until 1971. It is now a visitor centre that offers both guided tours and whiskey tastings. Temple Bar is an area known for its lively nightlife. Located on the southbank of the River Liffey, you'll find all sorts of pubs playing live music once the sun goes down. There's also one pub in Temple Bar, called The Temple Bar, but don't let that confuse you. And that's a wrap for our time in Dublin! We hope you enjoyed this video and that it gave you a few ideas of what the city has to offer. As always, if you have any other suggestions of fun things to do in Dublin as a visitor, feel free to share them in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels! This is part of our Travel in Ireland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Irish culture, Irish foods & Irish cuisine. Music in this video courtesy of Audio Network

Knappogue Knappogue Castle Original '51 Label HDV, MPEG 4
Sleuthing at Knappogue Castle where a bottle of vintage 1951 single malt was found. This bottle contained the original and rare rear-facing label written by Mark Andrews Sr. The Irish authorities took exception to his use of 'pure water' and required all of these labels to be removed. The Andrews family worked long and hard to satisfy the law. This presentation is an early smart phone video of the original label being read outside in the castle's courtyard. For you Irish speaking folks, I apologize for my poor pronunciation. In the kind and generous spirit of the Andrews family and what they have created, I humbly offer this simple history lesson. Stay tuned for the continuation of the story for this same fine vintage has yet two additional labels, if not more. InJoy!
