Subscribe to the Refinery29 channel: http://bit.ly/subscribe-to-r29 “Couture” is a magic word. It conjures thoughts of impeccable craftsmanship, visionary design, and legendary fashion moments. But, most of us don't encounter haute couture very often, unless we're looking at a celebrity on the red carpet, a model on a catwalk, or a mannequin in a museum case. We wanted to get closer to couture — and to get you closer to couture — so we partnered with the legendary fashion publisher Visionaire to create this video, which tells the story of one dress from birth to runway. It’s a unique look inside the Dior atelier, where the team has been hard at work bringing creative director Raf Simons’ ideas to life. While an individual couture garment can take half a year to produce, here you will see the story of one dress (“Look #53,” in fashion-speak) come together in just a few minutes — from the first muslin pattern to the final style model Kinga Rajzak wore during yesterday’s haute couture show. It’s an incredible revelation, and when you discover what goes into these garments, the crazy prices on couture start to seem at least a little less crazy. While Look #53 is the star of the show, the video gives us the chance to reconnect with the rarely credited artisans and seamstresses we saw in Dior and I, as well as a cameo from Simons himself. Think of this as a mini-trip to Paris or a crash course into fashion’s highest form; either way, enjoy your couture, concentrated. Hello ambitious guys and gals, in this video we do indeed show, "cement plastering techniques." In this simple to understand video, I explain to all you guys and some gals, how it is with plastering concrete, or as some folks say, cement plastering over concrete or cinder blocks foundations, terra cotta, and most cement based boards such as wonder board with the exact same method. How? Glad you asked, watch this video it visually explains with demonstrations in its entirety how cement plaster or rendering is applied over Concrete or Cinder Block Walls some call it Parging concrete. In the UK it's termed rendering your cement walls. In this video keep in mind these same methods also work on for applying Cement Plaster over Concrete, cinderblocks "CMU Blocks" Terra cotta Blocks and many more substrates. In this video, I am showing one way a person can make their own corners. As a rule my fellow passionate plasterers, I describe in simple Layman's terms the applications and reasons for our actions so that even my dear old grandma can understand. Stucco insulates against outside noises, making the inside of your home noticeably quieter than with exterior siding. Stucco strengthens a home, providing additional structural rigidity. This is because a stucco building is permanently encased in an envelope of wire and cement. If you don't like the look of concrete (a matter of personal taste), wood siding or cement board siding are better choices than aluminum or plastic. However, none of these sidings will last as long or be as maintenance-free as stucco.

Need a silly t-shirt to surprise a friend with? Printing it yourself is the cheapest way to make that happen! Kids can even get the hang of printing VERY quickly and be apart of the entire process, which is awesome! Here are a few things that I didn’t cover in the video that I think will give you better results. Use high dpi screens. These provide finer detail, and have significantly improved my prints. Have someone hold your frame so that you can use two hands to evenly pull the squeegee. If you don’t have access to a dryer for heat setting, you can cover the print with a piece of paper and iron it for a minute. If using a dark material, look for an ink labeled “super opaque”. You’ll get a brighter colored print. You’ll need a screen and squeegee to start. Also, some photo emulsion for screen printing. Add water to the sensitizer, then mix it with the emulsion. Mix thoroughly until it’s an even green color. Pour just a small amount onto the screen. Use the squeegee to spread it evenly on both sides of the screen. Try to get even and full coverage by alternating directions and sides. Dry the emulsion in front of a fan and IN THE DARK. After it’s dry, quickly lay your artwork, backwards, on the back of the screen. You can print your art on transparencies at most office supplies stores or copy centers. Tape the art in place, then lay on a piece of glass to hold it against the screen. Apply a very bright light for 30-45 minutes. You can also use sunlight, but the time may vary depending on cloud cover and placement. The areas covered by your art do not get exposed when you remove the transparency. Use a light spray and soft toothbrush to wash out the unexposed emulsion. Be careful not to use too much force when spraying it out or you will remove emulsion around your design as well. Use painters tape to mask any areas that you don’t want to print yet, or areas where the emulsion isn’t intact. Layout your shirt on smooth, flat surface and remove wrinkles. Place your design where you want it to be printed. Lay a thick bead of ink above the art, extended past both ends. Be sure to add extra ink above large areas to be printed. Even though I’m working alone here, you’ll have better luck to have someone hold your screen, then use two hands to evenly pull the squeegee fully across your screen. Remove the screen and wash out all of the ink before it dries. After the ink dries, run your shirt through a clothes dryer for 5 minutes to heat set the print. The screens can be reused by cleaning them with emulsion remover. Spread a small amount across both sides of the screen. Then use a hose to wash out the emulsion until the screen is clean. Dark inks will stain the material of the screen, but this will not affect future prints. Just make sure to remove all of the emulsion. Second channel: bit.ly/iltms-2

The Eames Lounge by Herman Miller - This is the one 'must have' chair for anyone serious about relaxing at home. The Eames Lounge Chair and ottoman, officially titled Eames Lounge (670) and Ottoman (671), were released in 1956 after years of development by designers Charles and Ray Eames for the Herman Miller furniture company. - First chair the Eames designed for a high-end market. - Made of molded plywood and leather. The heritage of the chair goes back to the molded plywood chairs pioneered by the Eames' in the 1940s. Charles Eames said his goal for the chair was that it be "a special refuge from the strains of modern living." - Part of the permanent collection at MOMA - New York's Museum of Modern Art. - When it was first made Ray Eames remarked in a letter to Charles that the chair looked "comfortable and un-designy" (sic). Charles's vision was for a chair with "the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman's mitt". - The first Eames lounge chair and ottoman was made as a gift for Billy Wilder, the director of "Some Like It Hot," "Irma La Douce," and "Sunset Blvd." - Made its public debut in 1956 on Arlene Francis's Home Show, a predecessor of the NBC Today show. Commenting on the unique design, Charles Eames told Francis, "We've never designed for a fashion, and the Herman Miller furniture company has never, ever requested that we do pieces for a market." During the interview, a short film was shown in which a man--Charles described him as "a typical Herman Miller employee"--assembled and disassembled the lounge chair, showing how simple the design was. - Since its introduction, the chair has been in continuous production by Herman Miller in America. Later, Vitra began producing the chair for the European market. Immediately following its release other furniture companies began to copy the chair's design. Some copies were direct knockoffs, while others were merely 'influenced' by the design. - Chair with Ottoman retail for $3,200 - $8,000 USD depending on the selection of veneer and leather - In America, the chair is hand-made in Kentwood and Grand Rapids Michigan. ---------------------------------------------------------------- If you see this, type "Love a lounger!" in the comments - and please LIKE/FAV! ---------------------------------------------------------------- How an Eames Lounge Chair is made - BrandmadeTV © BrandmadeTV 2015 This format and title of this program is protected under Copyright and Trademark Law and may not be emulated or re-created in any way without express consent in any territory worldwide.

"Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord when referring to type-III paracord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes. This cord is useful for many other tasks and is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. The yarns of the core (commonly referred to as "the guts") can also be removed when finer string is needed, for instance as sewing thread to repair gear, or to be used as fishing line in a survival situation. The nylon sheath is often used alone, the yarn in the core removed, when a thinner or less elastic cord is needed such as when used as a boot lace. Ends of the cord are almost always melted and crimped to prevent fraying. In addition to purely utility functions, paracord can be used to fashion knotted or braided bracelets, lanyards, belts, and other decorative items. These are sometimes tied in a fashion that can easily be unraveled for use in a survival situation. Some companies use paracord in conjunction with other survival components to create everyday wearable survival kits. Hikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts sometimes use "survival bracelets" made of several feet of paracord which is woven into a compact and wearable form. Such bracelets are meant to be unraveled when one needs rope for whatever purpose — securing cargo, lashing together poles, fixing broken straps or belts, or assisting with water rescues. Young survivalists (boy scouts) are also taught the importance of using the paracord as a survival tool.On the other hand, the paracord is a poor choice for an emergency tourniquet as its small diameter will crush tissue without applying the needed pressure to stop bleeding. Additional uses for parachute cord are in the manufacture of items such as lanyards, belts, dog leashes, rosaries, and key chains. This is becoming more popular as crafters are discovering this material." From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachute_cord Плетение из Паракорда

Introducing the Whitehaven Motor Yachts 6000 Coupe, where design and performance meets European style and finish. The new 6000 Coupe personifies the design principles to which we aspire, reflecting our understanding of both the needs and desires of the premium boating community and the unique Australian coastal environment. Its under the water where the 6000 Coupe introduces the start of her many unique features. A deep V bow provides smooth dry performance while the hydrodynamic hull design offers wide beam stability amidships and aft, offering exceptional long range cruising fuel economy and blue water integrity. You will be amazed at how stable and dry the 6000 Coupe is in any conditions. But its above the waterline where the Coupe will impress on any waterway throughout the world. Striking exterior lines are matched by a raised entertainers layout, featuring indoor and flowing outdoor living areas, gourmet galley and spacious accommodation. The fully appointed and well thought out helm will impress the most accomplished skipper, whilst master-crafted European inspired finishes teamed with exquisite fabrics and fittings make the Whitehaven 6000 Coupe more akin to a luxury home, than a boat. Took about 7 days after I got all hardware and wood onsite. A pergola is just framework without a solid roof, almost anybody can build this type structure, don't let anybody rip you off with some outrageous bid. I used all red cedar, stained and sealed to save natural color. I bought all materials from Bayou City Lumber, www.bayoucitylumber.com ask for Jim http://www.bayoucitylumber.com/index.php http://www.ozcobp.com/56617--rc-ls-2-.html http://www.ozcobp.com/timber-bolts.html http://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-ABA-6x6-ZMAX-Galvanized-Adjustable-Post-Base-ABA66Z/100375370?keyword=669436 These are links to some of the products I used to build this Pergola.

Balsam Hill's Product Design Consultant Brad Schmidt presents different Christmas tree ribbon decorating ideas for cascading and finishing the ribbons on your tree. Brad explains how you can utilize the tree's tips to anchor the ribbons and use more than one ribbon to create a layered look. Brad also suggests finishing the ribbon with a croissant twist, a reverse roll, or by cutting the end of the ribbon at an angle or into a fishtail shape. How to cascade ribbons: *Note: Use wired ribbons. 1. Use the PVC tips of your tree to anchor them down. 2. Twist and turn the ribbons to get the exact shape you want. 3. Layer two ribbons of varying widths for interest. How to finish the ribbon: 1. Croissant twist - Curl the ribbon at the end about six times and pull down the inner curl. 2. Reverse roll - Show off the back of the ribbon by rolling the back towards the front of the tree. 3. Cutting - Cut the ribbon at an angle or into a fish tail shape. Nail Art! Nails without Nail Art Tools. I show 5 easy nail art designs for beginners. You don't need any professional nail art tools to make any of these 5 nail art designs. This is already my 4th nail tutorial of this kind. For these five easy nail art designs you will only need a nail polish brush... and a toothpick for some dots. This nail art tutorial shows these nail art designs step by step and everyone can make them at home. Nail designs are easy, simple, perfect for nail art beginners, they look great on short nails and long nails! http://sarabeautycorner.com/ For all the animal lovers we are making a cute bear nail art. I decided to use brown color for my bear but you can use any nail polish color of your choice to draw your sweet teddy bear. Bear nail art is so easy to make only using a nail polish brush. For the eyes I, however, like to use a toothpick. With a toothpick you can achieve perfect dots easily. I like any kind of animal nail art, but this bear looks just so classic and retro! I’m in love! Chocolate muffin anyone? Umm.. yes please! The next design I show you in this no tool nails video is a delicious cupcake nail art. A cupcake nail art is perfect for a birthday manicure, maybe just as a cute little accent on the ring finger. To achieve thin lines for the candle and on the cup, the trick is to wipe the nail polish brush really well, until there is almost no polish left on the brush. This simple nail art is perfect for nail art beginners! Next design is a pretty butterfly nail art! I drew 3 cute little butterflies. First you need to draw butterfly’s body in brown or grey and then add beautiful wings using any color of your choice – I decided for pink, emerald and blue nail polish. In the end you also need to add a pair of antennae to each of the butterflies. You can leave them here or you can add a few dotted accents on their wings for a pretty detail. The fourth design I show in this no tool nail art tutorial is an elegant chevron studded nail art design. I used 3 colors for my chevron nail art - pink, emerald and burgundy red. Once the elegant chevron pattern is finished you can add two studs like I did. I went for star shaped silver rhinestones. Finish off this elegant design by applying a generous amount of the fast drying top coat. The last design in my fourth episode of the no tool nail art is a cool double color drip design. I decided to combine navy blue, white and hot pink in a bold and cool drip nail art design. After applying the base color, draw three to four drips using white polish on the tip of the nail. Connect the drips with curved lines across the tip. Then draw in pink drips on top, making sure that you keep the white edge. This design is just so awesome and bold! It would look great as an accent or on all the fingers for a fun and a bit crazy manicure. There’s a saying here in Maine that the only dry basement is the one you don’t build. Basements have historically housed our workshops, our train sets and kept items we couldn't fit anywhere else close by and protected. In tornado country they offer shelter from storms. But do basements actually serve these functions most efficiently? It's a question many are asking as energy codes change and as we seek to do the right thing environmentally. The video makes a case for considering alternatives to inefficiency of the full basement. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "How to Write Like An Architect" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGUDQ1F5tco -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
