Brewed in 2008, aged for 24 months in 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle Barrels. These are the very best smelling barrels I've come across in 18 years of barrel aging beer. Barrels were originally filled with spirit in 1985. We have 50 bourbon barrels aging, it will be a one time bottling, it will not be repeated."

Episode 200: Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout (2015) -- Goose Island Beer Co Here it is, the big 200! What a great beer for a big milestone. Goose Island aged BCBS for 2 years in Heaven Hill Distilleries barrels that are more than 30 years old. For both Bryan (in the vid) and Adam when he first had it, this beer was initially not quite as impressive. As it opened up, it became an epic version of BCBS. It is worth paying extra for. We will probably celebrate 250 also, so stay tuned. Ratings: Adam 4.75/5 Bryan 4.75/5 Info: 14.8% ABV, ? IBU

Bourbon County Brand Stout is simply one of the best bourbon barrel aged stouts in the world. It's a massive Russian Imperial aged for six months in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. So what happens when you put it in Pappy Van Winkle 23yr barrels for two years?!?! Good things.

EBBB: Goose Island Bourbon County Rare (2015) - Review #368

06:37
Description: Back in 1979 the folks at Heaven Hill Distilleries filled a handful of new freshly charred American white oak barrels with some of their finest whiskey. It is rare for Bourbon to age in barrels for more than twenty-three years. But these barrels patiently sat for over thirty years. The extra years developed a distinct and complex character that makes them truly one-of-a-kind. We filled those barrels with Bourbon County Brand Stout, and then stored them away in our Chicago Barrel House to age for two more years. www.facebook.com/eriebetterbeer www.twitter.com/eriebetterbeer
Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★ (15.2% ABV) DJs BrewTube Beer Review #1202

Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★. Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★ is a Russian Imperial Stout that clocks in at, 14.7% ABV. I am big fan of RISs and I have had a great deal of affinity toward this beer in past reviews. Goose Island Beer Co. describes Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★ as follows: "Brewed in honor of the 1000th batch at our original Clybourn brewpub. Goose Island could have thrown a party. But we did something better. We brewed a beer. A really big batch of stout-so big the malt was coming out of the top of the mash tun. After fermentation we brought in some bourbon barrels to age the stout. One hundred and fifty days later, Bourbon County Stout was born-A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with a thick foam the color of bourbon barrels. The nose is a mix of charred oak, vanilla, carmel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer. It overpowers anything in the room. People have even said that it’s a great cigar beer, but I haven’t yet tried a cigar that would stand up to it." Brewmaster Greg Hall.." This description really sounds quite tasty. Lets see Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★ lives up to its description. Hope you enjoy the video, my written review and report card follows: Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★ (BCBS) REVIEW: A: Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★ pours totally opaque black with a thin, quickly dissipating mocha colored head. Not much lacing or head retention but huge alcohol curtains cling tenaciously to the inside of the glass when this viscous liquid is swirled. S: Bourbon, charred wood, toffee, tobacco, BIG rich dark fruits, vanilla and alcohol. Very complex aroma that changes / develops as the brew warms. T: Bourbon, sweet malt, vanilla, wood, tobacco, leather, caramelized raisins and not as much alcohol and bourbon compared to the nose. Chocolate and coffee. The rich malt clings to your tongue for a while after your swallow the viscous black elixir. M: Viscous & chewy, mild carbonation. For a 14.3% beer the alcohol is very well hidden, but this is definitely a sipper. O - Goose Island Beer Co. Bourbon County Brand Stout ★ 2018 ★ is one of the best barrel aged Imperial Stout I have had. I will drink this again and recommend it to anyone who is into barrel aged beers as a bucket list level beer. Even after three year reviewing this beer in a row I still love what this beer has to offer. Goose Island Beer Co. Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Rare / King Henry - Snobby Beer FINAL Review

05:08
http://www.snobbybeer.com http://www.gooseisland.com/ This is my last review! This is the Snobby Beer review of Bourbon County Stout Rare and King Henry from Goose Island Brewing Company in Chicago, IL. Bourbon County Rare was aged for almost 2 years in Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year barrels. Once the barrels were emptied, Goose Island brewed a batch of barley wine called King Henry to fill them. From the Goose Island website: Rare: "Brewer's Notes: This stout was aged for two years in the finest old barrels Goose Island used in its 18 years of bourbon barrel-aging beers! A true rarity—savor and share it only with those you hold dear, as it will never be made again. Recipe Information: Style: Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout Alcohol by Volume: 13% International Bitterness Units: 60 Color: Midnight Hops: Willamette Malt: 2-Row, Munich, Chocolate, Caramel, Roast Barley, Debittered Black Serving Suggestions: Preferred Glass: Snifter Food Pairings: Flourless Chocolate Coffee Cake Cheese Pairings: Capriole Bourbon Chocolate Torte Cellaring Notes: Develops in the bottle up to 5 years " King Henry: "Brewer's Notes: Aged in bourbon barrels, King Henry is a burgundy hued English-style barleywine with aromas of vanilla, oak, and dark fruit. Caramel and toffee flavors blend together with bold notes of bourbon delivered in a smooth body followed by a malty finish. No matter the occasion, King Henry promises a regal drinking experience. Recipe Information: Style: Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywine Alcohol by Volume: 13.4% International Bitterness Units: 60 Color: Burgundy Hops: Pilgrim, Styrian Malts: Pale, Caramel 120, Crystal Wheat, Dark Chocolate Serving Suggestions: Preferred Glass: Snifter Cellaring Notes: Develops in the bottle up to 5 years" Questions? Suggestions? Let me know what you think! Grab a beer and leave a comment.

This year, Goose Island collaborated with Elijah Craig on 2018 Bourbon County Stout Reserve. Each year for Reserve we select a special bourbon to highlight the characteristics of the barrel during the aging process. The Elijah Craig 12 year old Barrel Proof barrels that were selected for this year’s Reserve previously held the bourbon that won Whisky Advocate’s Whisky of the Year in 2017. Bourbon County Stout Reserve will be released on Black Friday along with the rest of the 2019 Bourbon County Stout lineup.

Grit and Grain: The Story of Bourbon County Stout

47:59
To the employees of Goose Island, Bourbon County Stout has always been more than liquid in a bottle. We’ve always known that, but to what extent we had no idea. A lot has changed at Goose Island since the first batch of Bourbon County Stout was brewed and barreled in 1992. As time marched on, the folklore surrounding Bourbon County Stout became as rich and layered as the beer itself. Fact starts to blend with myth, and myth takes away from the process. That’s why a group of Goose Island employees set out to uncover the full story of Bourbon County Stout. What we found was a story larger than we had ever realized. A story that uncovers a large cast of characters, crosses state lines, and spans generations. From the loggers that down the American White Oak used to make bourbon barrel staves, to the distillers that fill and age bourbon on those staves. This is Grit & Grain. This is what it really takes to get Bourbon County Brand Stout into your hands.

Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout - Blind Taste Test

09:36
Goose Island Brand Stout was America's first barrel-aged beer. After 20 years, it has built quite a reputation, so it seemed like the only way to get a fair assessment would be to have a blind taste test. The snifters made it look like a "big" beer, but the boys had no idea just how big!! Today, we are drinking a beer that I am excited to have on the show. Bourbon County Brand Stout from the Goose Island Beer Company in Chicago Illinois. Goose Island started as a brewpub in 1988. In 2011, their production brewery was sold to AB Inbev. They currently distribute to all 50 states. Bourbon County Brand Stout was first brewed in 1992 to celebrate the brewery's 1000th batch of beer. This is America's first bourbon barrel aged stout and the recipe has held up well because it ranks 41st on Beeradvocate's Top Beers in the World list. The 2012 version is 15% ABV and 60 IBUs. It is available in 4-packs of 12 oz bottles. This year Goose Island brewed 5 times more Bourbon County than last year, so it should be a little easier to find. The beer can be cellared for up to 5 years. There are two other variations available -- a coffee stout and a cherry rye version. Drink it in a snifter for best results -- WARNING - this will make you look like a snob. Let the blind taste test begin."
