Order the album "Forward!" here: http://amzn.to/14MD4JS The Brand New Heavies have been defined as the godfathers of acid jazz and together with Incognito they have started a successful revival of soul and funk music that in the last 20 years brought echoes of Motown and soul music back to the charts, mixed with a modern style, flirting with dance music and club culture. Their newest release "Forward!" doesn't lose any of their traditional sound. Pioneers of the London Acid Jazz scene, The Brand New Heavies are a British music institution whose unique mix of jazz, funk and soul has lit up the music scene for well over two decades. 2013 sees the release of their first full studio album in nearly seven years: "Forward!", featuring original vocal collaborator N'Dea Davenport and introducing new vocalist Dawn Joseph. The album will be released as CD and download as well as limited edition including live recordings from their explosive performance live at the indigO₂ London 2008 on 2CDs on May 31st, 2013 via earMUSIC. The Brand New Heavies revolves around founding trio Jan Kincaid (drums/keyboards), Simon Bartholomew (guitar) and Andrew Love Levy (bass). The trio has certainly played a key role with the birth and developing of the sound later known as Acid Jazz in the early 90s. Over the years The Brand New Heavies have been responsible for some of the UK's biggest R&B/soul tracks, scoring 16 top 40 singles including 'Dream On Dreamer' and 'You've Got A Friend', as well as over two million album sales. 2013 sees The Heavies re-emerge in triumphant and refreshed form with original collaborator N'Dea kicking things off in spectacular style. Davenport features on several tracks on the "Forward!" album with new British vocalist, Dawn Joseph, taking up the baton on several tracks also, alongside Kincaid on vocals and some of their signature funk- filled instrumentals. The album's lead track 'Sunlight' featuring N'Dea Davenport is an uplifting slice of absolutely classic Brand New Heavies with a contemporary edge whereas 'Addicted' masterly mixes the best of different styles but all with a classic Heavies tinge. The Brand New Heavies have been ploughing their way through the British music scene for over a quarter of a century and are respected all over the world. With their new album and tour dates, they look set to continue that tradition for many years to come. Be ready to boogie all night long. Tracklist 1. Forward 2. Sunlight (Full Length Heavies Mix) 3. Brand New Heavies - You Are The Universe Tekst: You're the future, and you've come for what is yours The hidden treasure, locked behind the hidden doors And the promise of a day that's shiny new Only a dreamer, could afford this point of view But you're a driver, not a passenger in life And if you're ready, you won't have to try 'cause You are the Universe And there ain't nothin' you can't do If you conceive it, you can achieve it That's why, I believe in you, yes I do You're a winner, so do what you came here for The secret weapon, isn't secret anymore You're a driver, never passenger in life And when you're ready, you won't have to try 'cause You are the Universe And there ain't nothin' you can't do If you conceive it, you can achieve it That's why, I believe in you, yes I do You are the Universe And there ain't nothin' you can't be If you conceive it, you can achieve it That's why, I believe in you, and I believe in me (Yes I do Believe in you I do) You're a driver, not a passenger in life And when you're ready, you won't have to try 'cause You are the Universe...
