Jack Johnson and dozens of artists joined more than 1,000 Hawai’i keiki (children) in this beautiful medley. Weʻre excited to present our 2nd ʻSong Across Hawaiʻiʻ collaboration with Hawaiian nonprofit @Mana Maoli, filmed across many breathtaking Hawaii locations as part of their #ManaMele project, which features a Music & Multimedia Academy and Solar Mobile Studio with programs in more than a dozen schools. Turn it up and let the music bring in the light! To learn more about this medley and Mana Mele, follow Mana Maoli on FB & IG, and visit manamele.org, where you can get a personal copy of this video for a donation of any amount. Playing For Change is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. Our primary focus is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos we call Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated us to form the Playing For Change Band—a tangible, traveling representation of our mission, featuring musicians met along our journey, and establish the Playing For Change Foundation—a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, we aim to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet. How Competitive and Collaborative Work Cultures Differ - Dan Street
In Chapter 16 of 20, entrepreneur Dan Street shares the pros and cons of competitive and collaborative work cultures. Competitive cultures naturally attract competitive people who like to succeed and are likely intelligent and energetic. The downside is the constant competition that rewards winning but forces constant losing, too. Collaborative cultures attract like-minded people who tend to agree. The downside here is the lack of creative tension reduces arguments that improve ideas. He finds there is a way to find a happy medium, creating a collaborative environment with structured competition. View more at http://www.captureyourflag.com

How New Work & Coworking Have Changed the Workplace
Office, no office, remote work, everyone back to the office… I think if you ask 10 people you get 10 different opinions, but one thing is undeniable: shared office space it growing like hell. It’s a bit like the invention of the PDF. Adobe had the idea that we use less paper but we actually use and print more. New Bodies, New Worlds: The Collaborative Work of Iris van Herpen and Philip Beesley
Since their first conversations in 2012, Atelier van Herpen studio in Amsterdam and Beesley’s Living Architecture Systems Group have been co-creating innovative couture that has been worn by celebrities, circulated in multiple exhibitions, and hailed by global critics. Working within a wide community of scientists, engineers, and artists, Iris van Herpen and Philip Beesley’s collaborative explorations combine exquisitely detailed hand-crafted materials into three-dimensional fabrics, incorporating instrument and toolmaking, advanced manufacturing, next-generation computation and artificial intelligence, and subtle phenomena inspired by the natural world. New Bodies, New Worlds offers a unique view of Van Herpen and Beesley’s collaborative work. Philip Beesley is a practicing visual artist, architect, and professor whose work is focused on rapidly expanding technology and the culture of responsive and interactive systems. Beesley’s collaborative work has the potential to change how we build architecture by transforming the physical structures that support buildings, the technical systems that control them, and fundamental relationships with the natural world surrounding them. Philip Beesley’s Living Architecture Systems Group employs methods that incorporate industrial design, digital prototyping, instrument making, and mechatronics engineering. Beesley has authored and edited sixteen books and proceedings, and his work was selected to represent Canada at the 2010 Venice Biennale for Architecture. He has been recognized by the Prix de Rome in Architecture, VIDA 11.0, FEIDAD, two Governor General’s Awards, Architizer A+ Art Award, and as a Katerva finalist. Iris van Herpen stands for reciprocity between craftsmanship and innovation in technique and materials. She creates a modern view on Haute Couture that combines fine handwork techniques with digital technology. Van Herpen forces fashion to the extreme contradiction between beauty and regeneration. Iris’ designs require a unique treatment and creation of material. For this reason, van Herpen prefers interdisciplinary research and often collaborates with other artists and scientists. She states: “For me fashion is an expression of art that is very closely related to me and to my body. I see it as my expression of identity combined with desire, moods, and cultural setting. In all my work I try to make clear that fashion is an artistic expression […] With my work I intend to show that fashion can certainly have an added value to the world, that it can be timeless and that its consumption can be less important than its beginning.” Sarah Schleuning, conversation moderator, is the curator of decorative arts and design at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia. She curated the touring exhibition, Iris van Herpen: Transforming Fashion, on view at the Grand Rapids Art Museum from October 23, 2016 through January 15, 2017. In Partnership with the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA), Taubman College, and the Grand Rapids Art Museum. All presentations take place on Thursdays at 5:10 pm at the historic Michigan Theater, located at 603 E. Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor, and are free of charge and open to the public. Office Design Guides: Collaborative Working
Collaborative Working http://www.maris-interiors.co.uk/ Hi, my name's Claire and in today's Maris Guide to Office Relocation we're going to be talking about collaborative working Over the last few years there has been a definite change in the type of work people are doing -- and the way they're doing it. The majority of office workers are now involved in project work and teamwork - they tend to look for more collaboration and less supervision. More time than ever is spent in meetings. Open plan offices and flexible working methods go some of the way to achieve this, but for the best results, you need to look at solutions that facilitate people working together. Recently, there has been a big shift towards collaborative working, in groups of four to ten people. This means your company may need less in the way of individual offices and desks; and more teamwork areas, meeting rooms and informal spaces. Studies have shown that from both a cost-saving and productivity perspective, collaborative working is extremely efficient. While the advantages are clear, you will find that some workers dislike a lack of personal territory. So it's fair to say that this style of working will suit some businesses and workers more than others, but many companies find it to be a happy compromise between open plan and flexible working. For more information on this or any other aspect of office relocation, just click below, or head to www.maris-interiors.co.uk Maris Interiors LLP are the UK's leading office designers and workplace experts. We specialise in office design, office fit-out, office refurbishment and office relocation and create world class workplace environments for occupiers in London and throughout the UK and continental Europe.

I-BEST Video 2 of 4: Traditional and Collaborative Team Teaching Models
Washington's Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training Program (I-BEST) is a nationally recognized model that quickly boosts student literacy and work skills so students can earn credentials for living wage jobs. I-BEST pairs two instructors in the classroom -- one to teach professional and technical content and the other to teach basic skills in reading, math, writing or English language -- so students can move through school and into jobs faster. Two or more instructors: • Work together to plan, conduct, and evaluate the learning activities for the same group of learners. • Teach the same students at the same time within the same classroom. Team teaching resources: http://www.sbctc.edu/college/_e-ibestinstructortools.aspx TRADITIONAL TEAM TEACHING Teachers actively share the instruction of the content and skills to all students. Example: one teacher may present the new material to the students while the other teacher constructs a concept map on the overhead projector as the students listen to the presenting teacher. COLLABORATIVE TEACHING In this academic experience, team teachers work together in designing the course and teach the material, not by the usual monologue; but rather, by exchanging and discussing ideas and theories in front of the learners. Not only do the team teachers work together, but the course itself uses group learning techniques for the learners, such as small-group work, student--led discussion and joint test-taking

Core Values
We take great pride in providing our clients, employees, subcontractors, and design colleagues the highest technical, professional and personal standards in the industry. Our work style is collaborative, supportive and empowering. Our management is led by some of the most seasoned and respected individuals in the region; and to a person, each is committed to leading team members to growth and success in a family friendly — yet all-business too — environment that encourages a healthy work-life balance. These are the qualities that make us who we are. Our essential goal of “doing the right thing” for clients is achievable when the same motto applies to the way we work with and treat everyone.
This work is a collaboration between artists @faith47 and @imraanchristian installed at the Magic City exhibition in Munich in 2017. Its starting point is a poignant image taken by Imraan during the 2015 student protests in Cape Town. The photograph documents a pivotal turning point - the moment when peaceful protestors reacted violently as a response to sustained police brutality. It poses the question of how we as individual South Africans, as well as the media, become complicit in a culture of consuming violence - where it is normalised, without real investigation into the systemic causes. By deconstructing the image, the piece observes how specific events become part of the fabric of both personal and collective memory, and become transformed and fragmented over time. The artwork intends to provoke and bring visibility to much needed transformation within the historical and institutional structures of South Africa. Video By Zane Meyer of @chopemdownfilms

People Work Directly with Robots Building Volkswagen Transmissions
Škoda Auto, MATADOR Group and KUKA: ending the separation of humans and robots in factories. Humans and robots working beside each other and with each other? What sounds like the future is now the present, thanks to a central-European partnership involving a new generation of collaborative robots freed from the safety restrictions required in the past. Škoda Auto (a part of the Volkwagen Group since 1991), MATADOR Group and KUKA have come together in the town of Vrchlabí near the foot of the Giant Mountains for a manufacturing initiative without borders or fences. The industrial cultures of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany link the three companies, while human-robot teamwork on the factory floor has entered a new dimension after the removal of the safety fencing that once separated these members of the modern workforce. And all this is happening in an automobile factory that produces direct-shift-gearbox automatic transmissions. There, an industrial robot does what industrial robots do best: grow productivity, reduce costs and improve output quality. In this particular case, the KUKA LBR iiwa inserts the gear actuator piston into the transmission – precisely and gently doing a very repetitive task. Škoda Wins 1) Production employees now work alongside the KUKA LBR iiwa on high-precision tasks without the need for safety fencing. 2) The digitization of production means that the Vrchlabí plant is becoming more data driven. 3) Robotics represents part of the modernization of the plant and will lead to more investment and innovation.

Wax Poetic 2008: Collaborative work of Ian Brill and Garth Zeglin
Wax Poetic is a performance installation in which water and wax are sculpted in a live response to audience input as translated into computer-generated animated fractals. The performance is centered on a large transparent table covered with a thick layer of back-lit translucent wax (upper right). Water slowly trickles across the wax like a tiny landscape and both highlights and guides the sculpting process. Audience members are able to communicate with this process by offering their own clay sculpture to a camera; the images of their own work and images of the wax are reprocessed into an animated fractal image on a large projection screen (lower right). The camera data also controls a sound engine which creates a delicate ambient music. The combination of the sound and visuals creates the environment in which each sculptural gesture is made, closing the loop from the wax forms to the audience and back. Wax Poetic is the newest performance work in the Device Chain series and took place at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh on May 31 and June 1, 2008 as part of the Fi'Art International Family Art Festival organized by the Pompidou Centre of Paris.

Palm Springs Chamber Co Work 1080p
The Palm Springs Chamber of commerce is breaking the rules and redefining what a powerful local business advocacy organization should look like by unveiling Co-Work, the new collaborative work space located in the newly renovated mid-century headquarters located at 190 West Amado Road downtown. Chamber President, Steven Henke calls it ‘a place where good people and great ideas come together”. He says, “We know that visitors can work anywhere when they visit Palm Springs, but connecting them to members inside Co-Work will ensure new ideas take root and grow in Palm Springs.” Co-Work faces the O’Donnell Golf Club and features inspiring views of the San Jacinto Mountains at each of the bar-height co-working stations in its main room. “We want to create new opportunity in Palm Springs by inviting non-brick-and-mortar business owners into a relationship with our Chamber membership,” says Chamber CEO Nona Watson Co-Work will be open during normal Chamber business hours and available to members and non-members alike. Features include collaborative workspace, a private office, a coffee lounge, and the Co-Work Lab – which seats 22 and include state-of-the-art AV equipment for group meetings and presentations or an offsite brainstorming and strategy location for companies who need it. Membership in a shared co-work space has been proven to expand professional networks, increase referrals, and drive new ideas born of collaboration, and boost creativity, productivity, satisfaction, and happiness for remote workers who no longer have to work alone. “We know that Palm Springs works best when Palm Springs works together,” says Henke, adding that he expects the new space to be fun, social, inspiring, and all about community.

What is COLLABORATIVE JOURNALISM? What does COLLABORATIVE JOURNALISM mean? COLLABORATIVE JOURNALISM meaning - COLLABORATIVE JOURNALISM definition - COLLABORATIVE JOURNALISM explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. Collaborative journalism is a mode of journalism where multiple reporters or news organizations, without affiliation to a common parent organization, report on and contribute news items to a news story together. It is practiced by both professional and amateur reporters. Collaborative journalism involves the aggregation of information from numerous individuals or organizations into a single news story. Information is gathered through research or reporting, or added when readers examine, comment and build upon existing stories. Stories from the mainstream media are often built upon. Depending on the system of collaboration, individuals may also provide feedback or vote on whether an article is newsworthy. A single collaborative news story, therefore, may encompass multiple authors, varying articles, and ranged perspectives. Professional and amateur reporters may work together to develop collaborative news articles, or mainstream media sites may gather amateur blog posts to complement reporting. Collaborative journalists either contribute directly to stories, sometimes through a wiki-style collaboration platform, or build upon the story externally, often through personal blogs. Collaborative journalists develop or examine a story one piece at a time. This contrasts the deadline and completion-centered nature of traditional media. A story is built upon continually, and a popular story may receive daily updates. Through combined authorship, collaborative journalism is thought by some to offer an increased independence of thought and experience unavailable to traditional media. Successful collaborative journalism projects require a participatory community with respect for content. Ross Mayfield, CEO of SocialText, has commented on wiki-style collaborative journalism: "Most user-generated content isn't content, but conversation. Cultivating community is a decided practice. It boils down to the social contract you make with your readers-turned-writers. If they trust that their effort and words will be appropriated appropriately, while providing social incentives for participation, it can very well work." Collaborative journalism emerged through the internet in the early 2000s, and developed gradually through various online outlets. As examples, Wikinews was founded in 2003, and NewsVine in 2005. The Panama Papers project may be the largest example of a journalistic consortium to date. It began sometime in 2015 (date?) when Bastian Obermayer, an investigative reporter with the south German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, was contacted by an anonymous source and offered the trove of 11.5 million electronic documents from Mossack Fonseca, the world’s fourth biggest offshore law firm detailing a web of secret offshore deals and loans worth billions of dollars, and details of tax avoidance designs in numerous countries. The newspaper's editors decided they could not handle the massive volume of information alone and initiated a collaborative journalistic consortium including more than 140 journalists and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, a project of the nonprofit Center for Public Integrity.
