Fast fashion: for an e-commerce model in China, 150 outfits in 13 hours is a day’s work Cui Yue, known professionally as Pin’er, models clothes for online retailers selling their goods on the Chinese e-commerce behemoth Taobao. Because Taobao models are valued for their ability to drive sales, with the website tracking each product, the approach to modelling favours volume and efficiency. Tip #1: Focus on one product. You do not need to be selling millions of products like Amazon to do well. I met a lady who makes high heels more comfortable selling insoles. She has one product, and that's it. Do you know how much she makes? Well into the seven figures per year. You don't need a lot of products to do well. If you're on Shopify, you can use Oberlo, and that'll help make it, so you don't have to worry about the logistics. If you're only doing one product, your life becomes so much easier. Focus on one product that solves a pain point. #2: Upsell and downsell. It's easier to get someone who has bought from you once to spend more money with you than it is to get new people to buy from you. If you're selling insoles that make women's shoes nice and comfortable, your upsell could be a pack of three instead of just one. That's an easy upsell. Doing simple things like that will increase your lifetime value, which will open up more possibilities. #3: Advertise. Facebook advertising and Google AdWords both work extremely well in e-commerce marketing. Facebook ads and Google ads are a great way to boost your e-commerce sales, and you if you're not sure where to get started with Facebook ads or Google ads, leave a comment below and I'll answer you, and I'll give you feedback on how to run the perfect Facebook ad campaign or a Google AdWords campaign. #4: Leverage subscriptions. Make sure you offer subscription options. For example, if you're selling makeup or lipstick, people are gonna run out of it. The question is just when? So why not give them an option where they can subscribe and continually get new makeup? If you're using Shopify, you can use a tool called Recharge to make your product a subscription. #5: Recover abandoned shoppers. In 2017, roughly 75.6% of shopping carts were abandoned. So, you need to make them come back and buy. How do you do that? Recovering abandonment solutions, such as collecting their emails. When someone's buying from you, you're probably collecting their name and email first before you're showing the credit card information. You can do things like exit intent offers, using tools like Hello Bar, where you show them an exit offer saying, hey, thinking about leaving? Put in your name and email and I'll send you a 10% off coupon or a free shipping coupon. #6: Optimize your checkout process. Baymard did a study on checkout pages. They found when companies optimize their checkout pages, they made an extra 260 billion, that's not million, that's billion with a B, extra dollars. Don't forget to optimize your checkout process. The way you do that is by first removing unnecessary fields. Why would you ask someone for their name and email and address multiple times? That's unnecessary. Keep it simple. The other way you can optimize your checkout process is by making it two-step. #7: Leverage a referral program. If someone's buying from your e-commerce site, they probably know other people have the same problem and need your solution. Create a referral program, and you can do this through ReferralCandy. You can do simple things like, get 20 bucks when you refer someone that also signs up and buys. The key with a referral program is to incentivize both the person giving the referral and the person accepting the referral. Follow these seven tips, and you should generate at least 50 plus percent more in sales. Leave a comment below and say, hey, here's my e-commerce store. Which one of these tips should I be using first? I'll respond telling you which one you should do first, second, et cetera, so that way, you're doing the ones first that are gonna create the biggest ROI. And I can't just tell everyone, hey, go do them in this order, because it varies for each and every single e-commerce site out there. Killer photograph of yourself (please wear your product) So short bio about yourself Talk about the brand Talk about what the customer is ultimately going to feel out of that experience Include a brand video if you can Final Thought Your customer isn't the only one who's looking at your about page. Potential wholesale buyers, editors, bloggers, stylists, everyone is looking at your about page. You're also selling people on your value. You're selling people on who you are. Failing to raise a Series C for his company, Sujayath realised that Voonik needed to stop burning and start being profitable in order to survive. Luckily, this isn’t as hard as you might think. Here are 3 tips on how to drive traffic to your online store: Tip #1 to drive traffic to your online store: Use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for search engine/Google traffic We’ve got some great ecommerce SEO tips for you. First tip: Pick a keyword that accurately describes with you’re selling. This keyword you’ll use to optimize your page. Focus on a descriptive keyword. With search engines, it’s about the QUALITY of traffic, not the quantity. You can do this manually, or you can use a platform like Shopify to make your ecommerce SEO easy. Our next ecommerce SEO tip is for you to put this keyword in the meta title tag of your page. After that, the next step in ecommerce SEO is to place your primary keyword in your page URL. Another ecommerce SEO tip is to place your primary keyword in your meta description of the page. Try to place it as close to the beginning of the description as possible. The next thing to do when optimizing for ecommerce SEO is to place your primary keyword in the image alt tags for the different images on your page. And a BONUS ecommerce SEO tip for you is to make sure your keyword features in your main body content. I’d recommend it make up 1-4% of the main body words on the page. This is a bit of a controversial ecommerce SEO tip so use it cautiously. Don’t worry, your SEO doesn’t need to be perfect. Just do the best that you can. Every bit helps! Tip #2 to drive traffic to your online store: Drive traffic using your Amazon & eBay stores When people think about how to drive traffic to their online store, they often forget they have a great source already with their Amazon and/or eBay stores. Be careful though. Amazon and eBay have very strict rules about placing external links on their website. They have strict rules too about you diverting customers away from their websites. Amazon and eBay don’t like it when you “steal” customers from them and they outline this in their terms and conditions. You can still market to these customers though! For Amazon, I’ve had no problems placing a link to my store on my seller profile, but I’d caution you to do this carefully. Secondly, you can include a packing slip/thank you with your orders. In this packing slip, you can include a link to your online store: Be sure to not ask people to go to this instead though! Keep it subtle. A safe way is to include a link to it in the signature field of your note/letter in conjunction with a link to your Amazon store. On eBay, they have strict external link rules. I wouldn’t recommend placing a link to your store on your page. But you can include a link in a thank you note/packing slip. Again, keep it subtle. Including a URL address in your signature along with a URL to your eBay store is a good way to do this. Tip #3 on how to drive traffic to your online store: Use social media Here is a quick tip. Create profiles for your store on social media platforms like Facebook. Post to other popular pages within your niche/industry and leave comments that will get lots of likes/comments. This will push it to the front of discussions. People will then click on your name, see your store and hopefully click through to your storefront! Existing backers Northzone, eEquity, Jonas Norlander, and Filip Engelbert also followed on.'Founded in 2015 by serial entrepreneur Jarno Vanhatapio, NA-KD is an online direct-to- consumer (DTC) fashion brand for women, specifically targeting millennials with \xe2\x80\x9cstylish yet affordable clothes\xe2\x80\x9d. The company's wares are mainly marketed through social influencers.'After two years, it claims to already be one of the most quoted online fashion brands on Instagram in Sweden and Germany, powered by what NA-KD describes as a \xe2\x80\x9chighly scalable fashion collaboration platform with star influencers\xe2\x80\x9d. This, says the company, has seen its second full year of operations achieve a revenue run-rate close to $75 million, growing 150-plus percent compared to 2016.'Meanwhile, I'm told the new funding will be used to accelerate the growth of the company as it aims to become a preferred fashion brand for millennials. As part of this, NA-KD plans to launch 9 new localised sites in the coming months. I'm so happy you get to join me today. We are going to talk about some really important information that's really going to help drive sales to your eCommerce platform. In particular, we are going to be taking some tips from Chapter Four of my latest book, "Creating Fashion Websites That Sell: The Fashion Designers' Guide." Chapter Four is all about creating pages, product pages that are really going to drive sales. Absolutely, it's going to be so important that you take some great notes. We are going over some really critical steps so that you can actually make these changes and make these things happen to your website, but ultimately, the most important thing in this process is going to be to get deep with your website. Step one, is get familiar with your platform. Start to understand the terminology, Google it. You are going to see things like meta tagging, coming up with short descriptions for your website, making sure each of your product pages have the right descriptions on the back end. That's very different than the right descriptions on the front end, which is what your customer is ultimately going to see. So step one, let's get familiar. Step two, it's time to start getting creative about what it is you're going to be selling. Obviously, it's important to take a look online, start to do some key search terms. That means really start to take a look at some of the keywords that you're going to be trying to sell on your page. See what's ranking and see how people are actually responding to that. There are some great platforms online, like Moz, and some other ones, that actually allow you to do search rankings for keywords. Taking a look and doing some search rankings, figuring out what are the keywords that you are actually going to be optimizing for. While that all might sound very technical, it's really going to help you with this next step of writing it. Writing a product page is extremely, extremely important for what someone is actually going to buy. Too often I see people who are trying to sell $500 items on a website, and all they've really told me is one or two sentences about why I should buy it. To be honest, if I don't know your brand, and you don't have any brand value, or perceived value from a social standpoint, and I haven't read about you in any press, you really need to sell me on why it is I am going to spend $500 on your product. Even still, if I'm going to spend $50 on your product, your goal is going to be to sell me, in the most romantic way possible, why it is that I need to own what it is that you are selling. You're going to need to do it in a way that optimizes for keywords, and you are going to need to do it in a way that optimizes for the voice that you are trying to get across to your customer. In other tips and tricks we've gone over developing your customer voice and understanding that, so it's important to take all of that information and research that you've done in terms of demographics, et cetera, and translate those words into your description pages. You're going to want to come up with a very descriptive title. Of course, if what you're selling is green high heels, I sure hope you tell me what shade of green it is. I sure hope that you're going to tell me what style of pump it is. Perhaps you are going to put something really catchy and interesting in there. If you had some press, "As seen in" is always a really interesting thing to put in your titles. That's just the beginning. Don't make your prod descriptions too long. You certainly want to make sure that there is a couple sentences that talk about, maybe, the inspiration, where it was made, why you made it, what's the reasoning behind it, maybe where someone else could see it, any type of press that that item has received. Then you want to go into some basic functional details.
