How to Add Products to your Homepage in Magento 2

09:46
https://understandinge.com/magento-tutorials/ This tutorial shows you how to add some products to the blank home page of your website using Magento widgets in less than 10 minutes. Step 1. Edit the Home Page of Your Website - In your Magento admin panel, click on the Content menu on the left-hand side followed by Pages. - Next, choose Edit from the Select drop-down box located to the right of the Home Page. - Under the Page Information on the left-hand side, click on the Content tab. - Replace the piece of text in the text box that reads CMS homepage content goes here with your own custom text. - Then click on the menu button, which says Insert Widget when hovered upon, in the top left-hand corner so that you can add products to your website’s home page using a Magento widget. Step 2. Set up a Widget - From the drop-down box labelled Widget Type, choose Catalog Products List. - Type Featured Products in the Title field, leave Display Page Control to No, and then put a value in the field labelled Number of Products to Display. - Skip the Template option as this widget only offers one template type called Products Grid Template. You can also leave the Cache Lifetime blank. - The Conditions option, meanwhile, allows you to restrict the products that appear on your home page using any of the product attributes in your Magento system. - Skip this option for now then click on Insert Widget on the right-hand side. - There in the text box in your Home Page settings, you can now see the widget that you set up. - Click on Save and Continue Edit in the top right-hand corner then head over to the front-end of your website. - Reload your home page, and you now see many products where once there was none. Step 3. Clear the Caches - Go to the System menu on the left-hand side then click on Cache Management. - Choose Select All from the drop-down box on the left-hand side then press Submit. - Go back to your website and refresh it, and you should be able to see the products on your screen. Step 4. Edit the Widget - Go back to the Home Page settings in your Magento system. - Double-click on the icon in the text box then enter a smaller number in the field that’s labelled Number of Products to Display. - Click on Insert Widget on the right-hand side and then press Save and Continue Edit at the top right. - Clear out the caches, refresh the home page of your website, and you see fewer products now. Step 5. Add a New Widget - Go back to the Home Page settings in your system then go a couple of spaces below the widget in the text box. - Click on the icon which, when hovered upon, says Insert Widget in the top left-hand corner. - Choose Catalog Products List from the drop-down selections for Widget Type, and then enter Special Offers in the Title field. - This time set Display Page Control to Yes then enter a number in the field labelled Number of Products per Page. - In the field labelled Number of Products to Display, enter the total number of products that you want to show on your site. - If you only want to show products under a specific category, click on the green plus (+) button, and then choose Category from the drop-down menu. - Next, click on the ellipses following the words Category is then click on the blue icon between the box and the green tick. - Tick the categories that are assigned to the products that you want to add to your home page. - Once that’s done, click on Insert Widget on the right-hand side, and then press Save and Continue Edit at the top right. How to Add a Multi-Select Attribute in Magento

15:59
https://understandinge.com/magento-tutorials/ Howdy, In this Magento Basics tutorial, we will be showing you "How to Add a Multi-Select Attribute". If you want to add only one dropdown attribute there is a separate tutorial on that: "How to Add a Dropdown (Select) Attribute" - http://youtu.be/lhuHAMi8bxU In the example, shown in the video we then named the Attribute Code with a prefix 'att_' this is your identifier that you created that attribute and not a default attribute in Magento. The most important setting when adding a multi-select attribute is the "Catalog Input Type for Store Owner" and be always sure to choose "Multiple Select" and set "Apply To" to "All Product Types" If you want the attribute/s to appear in the front-end of your Magento website, you need to set to Yes, "Visible on Product View Page on Front-end" and "Used in Product Listing" to Yes as well. You can add options or the values of your attribute as many as you want and the entire process of adding a multi-select attribute is shown in 'plain English' in this video tutorial. You can also use your attributes for layered navigation, we have a separate tutorial for that which can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBxpE6YqtUI It may happen that your attributes may not appear on your product, don't panic, do the following instead: 1. Make sure you picked up the right product 2. Flush out cache - a separate tutorial to do this can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyiVUjVBjVk 3. Reindex data - For a much deeper explanation about indexing and index management you can go here: https://understandinge.com/lesson/mwf-0031/ If you need a hand at any time, use the contact details below and the forums here http://understandinge.com/forum/ are always open. #15 Make E-commerce website in Laravel 5.6 | #26 Admin Panel | Products Attributes

31:12
In Part 15, we will start working on products attributes. Product attributes we refer to sizes, stock, prices and sku for the product. SKU stands for Stock Keeping Unit Suppose we have Test Product with Product code TP01 then it can have following attributes: SKU Size Price Stock TP01-S Small 1000 10 TP01-M Medium 1100 15 TP01-L Large 1200 10 All these attributes we need to store in products_attributes table. So in products_attributes table, we need columns like id, product_id, sku, size, price, stock, created_at and updated_at. We will use migration to create products_attributes table. Products table stores all the main product information and main price for the product that we will display at listing page but in detail page price comes from attributes table according to size. Price may wary according to Size and all such attributes we will store in products_attributes table. So lets start creating table first. 1) Create products_attributes table (With Migration) Run below command to create migration file :- php artisan make:migration create_products_attributes_table Open this file and add all columns that we want in table. We will add id, product_id, sku, size, price, stock, created_at, updated_at columns And now run below command to create table: php artisan migrate. See now in video, our products_attributes table has been created. 2) Create Model Now we will create model for products_attributes table like below: php artisan make:model ProductsAttribute 3) Create Route Now we will create Route for add-attributes with GET/POST method and pass Product Id. Route::match(['get','post'],'admin/add-attributes/{id}','[email protected]'); 4) Create Function Now we will create addAttributes function in ProductsController and will also get product id as parameter and will return to add_attributes blade file. 5) Create Blade file We need to create add_attributes blade file under views/admin/products folder And then we will add admin design to it. We can copy layout from add products blade file. Check in video, Add Products Attributes blade file is opening now but nothing there for now. In the next video, we are going to add Product Attributes form to add sku, sizes, prices and stock. So Stay tune for the next video.. Thanks for watching...

How to display all products on sale in Magento 2

01:03:24
Hi everybody, I am Cuong, Welcome back to my Magento 2 tutorial video series. #magento2tutorial #magento2 #magento #magento2training #productonsale In the previous lesson, I showed everybody, How to display the percentage of a discount per each product on the product list in Magento 2. You can watch again this lesson in the video link http://bit.ly/2HhylJ0 Today, I am going to show everybody the best practice, How to display all products on sale in Magento 2. What is the mean of "on sale"? When a product can be bought for less than their regular price. So that product is on sale. How can we get these products in Magento 2 by programmatically? This practice will show everybody the best solution and code. By default, Magento 2 provides us a Widget Type named Catalog Products List, it allows to display the list of products in a grid, you can see this widget added to the block identifier named home-page-block after installing sample data successful. However, this widget doesn't allow to filter the products on sale for displaying. Follow this widget, we can add some additional codes allowing only displaying the products on sale. This code helps us to get only the products having the final price less than the regular price, however, it can not get the configurable products on sale because of these products can't be set the special price. The special price only is set to the variable products of it. This is a configurable product. This codes can't help to get the configurable products on sale. So what is the solution? How can we get both simple and configurable products on sale for displaying? We will create a new product attribute called on_sale, this attribute will allow determining a product is on sale or not. Before saving a product in the backend, if it isn't a configurable product, we will check the special price of that product. If it is a configurable product, we will check the special price of all simple products of it. Then set the on_sale to "Yes" or "No" So what will we do in this practice? 1. Create a new customization module named PHPCuong_ProductOnSale 2. Create a new product attribute named on_sale 3. Create a new widget named "Catalog Products On Sale List" for displaying the listing products on sale Okie, let's go. Let's complete this practice you need to follow steps by step: Step 1: Declaring the new module called PHPCuong_ProductOnSale Step 2: Adding the new product attribute named on_sale Step 3: Set the value to the attribute named on_sale while saving the product. - Before saving the product from the backend, we will check that product and set the value to the product attribute named on_sale. We will use the event named catalog_product_save_before for completing this step. - After saving successful, we will check that product, if it isn't a configurable product then get the Parent Products and set the value to the product attribute named on_sale. Step 4: Declaring the new command-line interface (Magento CLI) named catalog:product:attribute:on_sale - We need to create a new Magento CLI, It helps us to check all products, if these products are on sale then set the product attribute named on_sale of those products to "2", else set it to "1". - Create the new file named di.xml in the path app\code\PHPCuong\ProductOnSale\etc - Create the new file named SetOnSaleValue.php in the path app\code\PHPCuong\ProductOnSale\Console\Command - We need to set cron job for updating the product attribute on_sale once a day. By running the command line php bin/magento catalog:product:attribute:on_sale In this video, I skip this step. Step 5: Declaring the new widget named Catalog Products On Sale List - This widget will use the same template named grid.phtml with the module named Magento_CatalogWidget - Create the new file named widget.xml in the path app\code\PHPCuong\ProductOnSale\etc - Create the new file named ProductsList.php in the path app\code\PHPCuong\ProductOnSale\Block\Product Step 6: Test and see the results 1. Run the following command lines: php bin/magento setup:upgrade --keep-generated php bin/magento setup:di:compile 2. Go to the backend, then set the new widget to the homepage block try to save some products for adding the value to the product attribute on_sale 3. Go to the storefront. 4. Run the command line: php bin/magento catalog:product:attribute:on_sale it helps us to set the value to the product attribute on_sale for all products. Yeah, it works perfectly Thank you for watching guide. If you have any questions about this practice please feel free to leave a comment below. On Attributes page you’ll see all your products’ attributes. Hit any attribute and you’ll get the list of available values. You can add or delete them. Find the Add new attribute button and we can see the fields: - Attribute’s name displays in the backend, public name is going to be shown to the viewers. They can be different or the same. - Attribute type is how you’d like the attributes to be seen at the product page. You are able to select: drop-down list, radio buttons, color and texture. Remember to hit Save when you configured those above. To add a new value for the product press the button in the up right corner and fill in two fields: attribute group and value. When you finished with the attributes you wanted to add save changes, and navigate to Catalog - Products. Hit at any of the products from the list you have and go to Combinations. Apply the attribute you’ve just created by selecting the size, color, and texture. Press Generate. So, now you can see the item with the attributes you’ve applied in the product list. Save your configs. This is what will be seen displays in the backend.

How to Add Custom Data to Your Product in Magento Website?

05:41
This video provides information about how you can add some custom data to your Product in your website developed on Magento. Magento is a widely used Open Source Ecommerce Web Application. Many times we need to add/edit some custom data on our website. To be able to add custom data, you need to create Attributes. An attribute in Magento is defined as any property of a product. By default Magento comes in with some basic set of Attributes Like Name, Description, Short Description etc.. Why do we require it? Let's say your store sells Books and you have fields like Name, Description, Price. But then you realize you need one more field to show the author of the book. This is where the attribute section comes handy; you can easily create an attribute field for Author and show it on your Product Page. 1. Log into the Magento admin panel 2. Navigate to "Manage Attributes" under Catalog - Attributes - Manage Attributes 3. In the top right, click on "Add New Attribute" 4. You're now on the Attribute edit page and Properties tab. • Attribute Identifier: This is the name of the attribute used by the system. Spaces can not be used in this field. We'll type product_size • Scope: This determines the store level at which this attribute will save for all products. If you choose Global, and edit "Product Size" for product 123 in store A to "M", product 123's hard drive size in store B (and any other stores) will also update to "M". • Catalog Input Type: This describes what kind of data the attribute will store. What's set here determines how data entry for this attribute will take place. We will use DropDown • Default Value: You can enter a value that will automatically populate for new products. • Unique Value: If "yes", the data saved in this attribute has to be unique for each product. In this case, we'll say "no" • Values Required: If "yes", you will be required to enter data in this attribute field when saving a product that uses it. • Input Validation: This decides whether the data entered by the store owner is validated when the product is saved. If validation is set to "Digits", we'll only be able to enter 0-9 in this field. An error will be thrown if we try to put letters in the field. • Apply To: This determines for which Product Types this attribute will display. Manage Label/Options Since we select Dropdown as the input type, we have the ability to create the possible options for this attribute from this tab. Under "Manage Labels" tab is "Manage Options". Press "Add Option" to add an option. It functions similarly to labels - any blank fields will look to the "default". You can also set the positions of each value and select one of the values as the default. Applying to a product Now, to apply this selectable attribute to a product, just add it to an attribute set and create a new product using this set. Visit your Site and check the product. So adding your own custom data is easy, neat and code free. How to create customizable products in Shopify without an app (tutorial)

16:21
Full tutorial and code: https://www.envision.io/blogs/ecommerce-pulse/95036801-how-to-create-customizable-products-in-shopify-without-an-app Sometimes you need to let your customers customize a product before checkout on your Shopify store. Maybe you offer monograms, or you need to let customers upload a file, or you want to let them choose from other custom options. There are plenty of apps that can do this, but apps are expensive and they bloat your store by adding extra scripts and slowing down your site. Fortunately, there's a lot you can do to offer customized products without paying for an app or hiring a developer. Plus, these methods only require a tiny amount of code (no JavaScript), so your site doesn't get unnecessarily slowed down. In this tutorial, I'll show how you offer extensive customizations to your products on Shopify. Check out the example below to see what's possible. Note: Shopify refers to these kinds of custom product options as "line item properties." Much of the information in this tutorial was originally published in Shopify's documentation here: https://docs.shopify.com/themes/customization/products/get-customization-information-for-products. How do I Change the Number of Products Per Page in Magento

07:30
https://understandinge.com/magento-tutorials/ Howdy, in this Magento Basics tutorial, we'll gonna show you how to change the number of products per page in the Magento category pages. Note: This is the frontend of your Magento website and not the administration area. In your Magento Admin Panel, - Click on "System" - "Configuration" - Look for "Catalog" in the left hand side underneath "Catalog" section - Go the first section called "Frontend" - Under "List Mode" choose whatever option you want, a grid or a list mode (assuming you chose grid) - Next is to set is the "Product Per Page on Grid Allowed Values" - this is the dropdown box where you can choose the number of products you want to show in your page - Next to set is the "Products per Page on Grid Default Value" - this will allow you to show how many products will be shown by default - In "Allow All Products per Page" be sure to set it to "No" if you have large catalog and "Yes" if you have only a few items to show - Hit "Save Config" when done with the desired settings After changing the number of products per pages and doing all the settings you need to clear out the Magento cache. The reason for that is you may have a full page Magento cache extension installed and there is a tendency that the changes you made won't reflect on your system. To do this, you need to: - Go to System - Cache Management - On the left side, click on select all - And on the right hand side press submit. That will clear your cache. If you need a hand at any time, use the contact details below and the forums here http://understandinge.com/forum/ are always open.
