CSS Display none vs Visibility hidden

02:28
1. Display none: When this property is attached to an element, it will entirely remove that element from page. No space will be taken by this element on page. 2. Visibility hidden: When this property is attached to an element, it will hide the element but it will occupy its space on the page.

jquery show hide password

11:01
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?sort=dd&view=1 Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/05/jquery-show-hide-password.html In this video we will discuss how to toggle password visibility using show / hide password checkbox. Here is what we want to achieve 1. When Show password checkbox IS NOT CHECKED, the password should be masked 2. When Show password checkbox IS CHECKED, the password should be in clear text and visible to the user One of the simplest ways of achieving this is by changing the type attribute of the password field depending on the checked status of Show password checkbox 1. If the Show password checkbox is CHECKED change the type to text 2. If the Show password checkbox is NOT CHECKED change the type to password Replace < with LESSTHAN symbol and > with GREATERTHAN symbol The following is the HTML and jQuery code <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#cbShowPassword').click(function () { $('#txtPassword').attr('type', $(this).is(':checked') ? 'text' : 'password'); }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> Password : <input type="password" id="txtPassword" /> <input type="checkbox" id="cbShowPassword" />Show password </body> </html> The problem with the above approach is that it does not work in IE 8 and earlier versions. This is because with IE8 and earlier versions the type attribute of input elements cannot be changed once set. The following code works in all browsers including IE8 and earlier versions. When Show password checkbox is clicked 1. Retrieve the value the from the password textbox and store it in a variable for later use. 2. Delete the password input filed. 3. If the "Show password" checkbox is CHECKED, then add a new input filed of type text, else add a new input filed of password. In both the cases set the value attribute of the input element = the variable created in Step 1. <html> <head> <script src="jquery-1.11.2.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#cbShowPassword').click(function () { var currentPassowrdFiled = $('#txtPassword'); var currentPassword = currentPassowrdFiled.val(); currentPassowrdFiled.remove(); if ($(this).is(':checked')) { $(this).before('<input type="text" id="txtPassword" value="' + currentPassword + '">'); } else { $(this).before('<input type="password" id="txtPassword" value="' + currentPassword + '">'); } }); }); </script> </head> <body style="font-family:Arial"> Password : <input type="password" id="txtPassword" /> <input type="checkbox" id="cbShowPassword" />Show password </body> </html>

How to Create Pure CSS Tooltip Without Using jQuery or Javascript

13:14
How to Create Pure CSS3 and HTML5 Tooltip Without Using jQuery or Javascript with demo example. You are going to create pure CSS tooltip using single html anchor tag. We are just using a single html anchor element and html5 data attribute to create a stylish tooltip with left arrow using pure css only and utilizing css3 after and before selectors. No other tags are used or neither any javascript or jquery. Everything we do is just by using CSS only. Download tooltip source code from codepen: https://codepen.io/smashtheshell/pen/bVoXjW In this video you'll learn to create a css tooltip also known as css infotip or hint message. I am going to explain every bit possible, related to html5 css3 tooltip only. You will see how its easy to create html5 toolip using css properties only. Key takeaways from this html5 css3 based tooltip video tutorial You will learn to use: - HTML5 data attribute to set the tooltip title - CSS3 after and before pseudo selectors to create tooltip left arrow without images. - CSS3 transitions add css tooltip animation - CSS3 attrib() method and CSS content property to retrieve data from the html5 data-attribute from anchor tag. - And finally you will create an amazing tooltip css only and adding animation to your tooltip. Basically tooltip is used to display information to the user when they hover over their cursor to some images, icons, text or links. Tooltips can be very useful to display information when there is space constraints in design. By using infotip or hint you can display long descriptions to the user without affecting your design. Creating tooltips using pure css have never been so easier, but here you'll see the clever use of CSS3 after and before pseudo selector and the most importantly you will see the use of content property of CSS3 and its attrib() method, By using attrib() method we'll fetch the information from the element's attribute. You'll learn how to create a custom attribute to an element and then fetch information from this attribute to your document by mere use of CSS3 content property. Then I'll style the information and initially make it hidden by setting its opacity to none and visibility property to hidden. And on the hover state I'll show you how to again use after & before pseudo selectors to display the tooltip. You'll also learn to create the triangle shape speech bubble using pure CSS3. For this I'll be using CSS3 Border property. You can create triangle by setting the one side of border to solid color and other two sides of the border to solid transparent. Finally, In this video lots of stuffed is packed. Just watch this video and reveals the powerful magic of CSS3. How to Use Display: Block in CSS

00:52
Follow this step by step guide to learn the basic concept of Block tags used in HTML and their properties Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Block Tags are widely used in HTML designing and creating interactive web pages. When we insert a Block tag in a source code with an Image or Text, it will automatically add margin and space to it. Due to this property, an Image or a text which is inserted in the Block tag is displayed identically on the web page. Here we will teach you how to block tags in a HTML and how it will appear on the web page. Step # 1 -- Insert an Image Tag In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to block tags on a HTML page. Block tags are basically same as the inline images or text. However, a block tag takes vertical space on both sides when displayed on a page. In order to insert block tags, open up the source code of the HTML page where you have already inserted the inline tags on Text editor. Now, move over to the "Image" tag and add the code as Style = "display: block" Add this code between the Image source and the closing tag. Step # 2 -- Save the Changes In the next step, save your changes and refresh your browser. You will notice a cloud image appearing separately from the text as a block on the page. Step # 3 -- Using the Block Property of Tags Next, go back to the source code and move over the "Div" tag of the inline text and replace it with "Block" tag. Step # 4 -- Save your Changes and Display the Page Once you have replaced the tags, save your changes and refresh the browser in order to view your selected text as a block tag on the page.

HTML5 Basics - Display Types (Part5)

07:06
In this video we are going to talk about something inherent to html tags: display types. Display types define how the tags behave when rendered by the browser. We can use Style Sheets to change these at any time, but each tag has a default behavior and its important to understand how they will work when you are describing your page when writing the initial markup. Got that? # Three Types There are a lot, but we are going to concern ourselves with three main display styles. # Block Block level elements are big blocks, just like they sound. They are generally used to divide content, because by default block level elements begin on new lines. Block-level elements may contain inline elements and other block-level elements. Inherent in this structural distinction is the idea that block elements create "larger" structures than inline elements. An example is a "p" tag, that sections off the whole paragraph, and forces the next paragraph tag to a new line. Check out the notes below for a link to a list of all the block level tags in HTML. [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTML/Block-level_elements] # Inline Inline elements may contain only data and other inline elements. Where block level elements are larger structures that contain all kinds a crap. By default, inline elements do not begin with new line when rendered by the browser. An example of this would be to wrap some words in your paragraph in an "a" tag. the words become a link, but the link does not start a new line in the paragraph, or disrupt the flow of content. It just sits inline in the paragraph. When we get to styling our document, we will note that inline elements cannot take width, height, margin and padding styles. For more on that check out this link [http://www.maxdesign.com.au/articles/inline/] # Inline-block This is the strange, but handy one. An inline block is placed inline (ie. on the same line as adjacent content), but it behaves as a block. So it can take those margins and paddings and dimensions. The only tags that default to inline-block are images and buttons. But with css, later on we will see that we can change any element to inline-block if we want to. Check out the link below for more information on inline-block [http://www.impressivewebs.com/inline-block/] # Display None & Table and others... There are other default display types that all have their little display behavior quirks; like display:table, or display:none. And there are a lot of interesting display methods on the horizon in css3, but today we wanted to just talk about how the html tags cary certain display types by default.

In the navigation create type button and specify a class toggle collapse and ID toggle button in this button create a span tag and specify class toggle icon using this class we create hamburger menu. Now we will create navigation. so we will add in order list tag with site nav class and here we put a li tag with nav item class. in the li tag we insert and anchor tag and specify site name class. so here we specify website name. after that we create second navigation item with item class and insert anchor tag with nav link class. So here we First specify first navigation item Home. after that we insert another li tag with nav item class and create anchor tag with nav link class specify blog text. I will fast forward this video and create features pricing and contact us navigation item. I will use same classes to create this navigation items. On the last navigation item we will insert social icon font awesome website. So I will add some social icon here Like Facebook Twitter Instagram and YouTube. how the time in style this HTML. in style.css select body tag and specify margin 0% and padding 0% then I will apply Font family and specify background colour two body of the document. then I will create navbar class and specify position absolute right 0% width 260 pixel you are free to choose your own navigation width. specify height 100% background colour black text align centre and transition property 0.8s then I will select side nav class which is child of navbar class specify list style type none padding 0 and margin 0. Create an nav item class specify display flex. then select the child element of navigation item navigation link and specific text decoration none colour font size 1.1em padding 1em and flex 1 property to fill the Remaining space of navigation item. after that create hover effect on a navigation link specify background and colour property. Now now we will align toggle button at the right place. to create toggle collapse class specified float property left margin left -3.3em margin top. 5em content blank outline inherit border 0px background transfer. now we will create toggle button. so using toggle icon class I will create toggle button. Part 94 Providing visual feedback using LoadingElementId AjaxOption

06:22
Link for code samples used in the demo http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2013/09/part-94-providing-visual-feedback-using.html Link for csharp, asp.net, ado.net, dotnet basics, mvc and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists This is continuation to Part 93, Please watch Part 93 from the ASP.NET MVC tutorial before proceeding with this video. One problem with partial page updates is that, they donot provide any visual feedback if the request is taking a long time to process. With full page postbacks, we don't have this problem, because the entire page is posted to the server and hence the user knows something is happening. For example, let's say a request in our ajax enabled application takes 10 seconds to complete. When the user clicks the button and if we don't provide him with any visual feedback that the request is being processed, the user may think the website is not working and he may click the button again. So, it is very important that we provide some visual feedback. To achieve this here are the steps. Step 1: Right click on the project name in solution explorer, and a folder with name = Images. Copy and paste the animated GIF image, in the Images folder. Please note: You can create animated GIF images using the following website. http://spiffygif.com/ Step 2: Place the following DIV tag on the view, where you want the image to show up when request is still being processed. [div id="divloading" style="display:none;"] [img src="~/Images/spinner.gif"/] [/div] Step 3: Modify the Ajax.ActionLink() html helper method on the view as shown below. Notice that, we have set LoadingElementId = "divloading" @Ajax.ActionLink("All", "All", new AjaxOptions { HttpMethod = "GET", UpdateTargetId = "divStudents", InsertionMode = InsertionMode.Replace, LoadingElementId = "divloading" }) Step 4: The controller action method in our example, completes in no time. So the image never shows up. To introduce some latency include, System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000); statement in the controller action method. The duration for the sleep method is in milliseconds. We have specified 1000 mill-seconds, so the thread is going to sleep for 1 second. public PartialViewResult All() { System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000); List[Student] model = db.Students.ToList(); return PartialView("_Student", model); } Now run the application and notice that image shows up, while the request is still being processed. When request processing completes and when the response is received, the loading image disappears and the UI is automatically updated, with the data received.

My Personal JavaScript Notes on How to

05:30
MyWebSite: https://www.aimiecaprice.com How to store an HTML elements content into a variable. How to write content to a variable using JavaScript. How to run a comparison statement on an HTML elements content When I initially dove into this, creating the condition was the thing that stumped me most. I got the rest of the equation that stated if this condition exists, do xyz. But my problem came with how do you get JavaScript to check if the condition exist and how do you create condition? Actually creating the condition is what really stump me most probably because I was over thinking it. I knew I wanted JavaScript to change the CSS display property depending on what image a user clicked...so I needed to write a function, make the image clickable, and have the function fire off "OnClick" So I created the condition inside the function which meant every time that function fired off the condition would be created by the function. JavaScript would literally write code that stated var x = 1, or var x = 2, depending on which function was being called by the user clicking various different images. . Example var x = 1; if( x == 1) { document.getElementById("desTxt1").style.display = "inline-block"; document.getElementById("desTxt2").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt3").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt4").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt5").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt6").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt7").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt8").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt9").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt10").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt11").style.display = "none"; document.getElementById("desTxt12").style.display = "none"; }

Javascript Tutorial with Examples For Beginners (pt 1)

04:21
This is part one of a series of javascript programming tutorials for beginners. I've created a bunch of example and sample problems for you to solve here: http://www.pyaraapp.com/js-tutorial-1.html Go to that site, open the developer console and type in the following commands and see what happens: /* Javascript Can Change HTML Content */ document.getElementById("demo").innerHTML = "Hello There"; /* JavaScript Can Change HTML Styles (CSS) */ document.getElementById("demo").style.fontSize = "30px"; /* JavaScript Can Hide HTML Elements */ document.getElementById("demo").style.display="none"; /* JavaScript Can Show HTML Elements */ document.getElementById("demo").style.display="block"; The problem with most javascript tutorials is that they don't give you enough example problems. If you are a beginner, it is really hard to learn how to code by just watching videos. You need to go out there and really solve sample problems. What is javascript: JavaScript is the programming language of HTML and the Web. Programming makes computers do what you want them to do. JavaScript is easy to learn. This tutorial series will take you from a JavaScript beginner to an expert. Why Study JavaScript? JavaScript is one of the 3 languages all web developers must learn: 1. HTML to define the content of web pages 2. CSS to specify the layout of web pages 3. JavaScript to program the behavior of web pages This tutorial is about JavaScript, and how JavaScript works with HTML and CSS. Learn by Examples: Examples are better than 1000 words. Examples are often easier to understand than text explanations. This tutorial supplements all explanations with clarifying "Try it Yourself" examples. If you try all the examples, you will learn a lot about JavaScript, in a very short time! In this video, I will use the javascript console thats built into the chrome developer tools to get you to start writing javascript code. With the chrome browser, you will be able to write out some code and see the results immediately. Then I will show you how to store a variable and what a variable really is. Then I will go over the different types of variables and then how to output the values of these variables you created.

CSS Visibility Hidden Declaration Explained

02:02
CSS Visibility Hidden Declaration Explained https://youtu.be/5EHn2IoE08E CSS visibility hidden allows you to add hidden content on the page. This is similar to the display:none; property, but there is one major difference. Visibility hidden hides the content, but keeps the area where the content was as a blank space. Display:none; hides the content and the content area. You may want to stick to the display property because it gives you more options and there are few use cases where you would want to the space taken up by a element to remain taken up as it is when using visibility:hidden; The other display values available to you are: Block makes the element take up a whole row in the HTML element where it resides. Here's how it looks: display:block; Inline makes the element take up only the space it needs. Here's how it looks: display:inline; Inherit applies the same display property as its parent element. Here's how it looks: display:inherit; Display none makes elements disappear. It also makes it so the hidden element does not take up any space on the page. Here's how it looks: display:none; That's all there is to it. I hope this video helps you! If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments below. How to check if JavaScript is enabled

09:17
Link for all dot net and sql server video tutorial playlists http://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists Link for slides, code samples and text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-to-check-if-javascript-is-enabled.html In this video we will discuss how to check if JavaScript is enabled or disabled. Let us understand this with an example. We have a page that captures Name and Gender. Both fields are required. The page relies on JavaScript being enabled for performing validation. We should always have server side validation irrespective of whether we have client side validation or not. It is not a good practice to rely just on client side validation, but for the purpose of this demo, let us say we only have client side validation. If JavaScript is enabled then we want to display the Name and Gender elements and the user can continue to use the application. If JavaScript is disabled then we want to hide the Name and Gender elements and we want to display the following message. It seems that you have disabled JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript. The easiest way to detect if JavaScript is enabled is by using noscript tag. The content inside the [noscript] element will be displayed only if scripts are not supported, or are disabled in the user's browser. [noscript] [style type="text/css"] .rootDiv { display: none; } [/style] [h1]It seems that you have disabled JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript.[/h1] [/noscript] [div id="rootElement" class="rootDiv"] [table border="1"] [tr] [td] Name [/td] [td] [input id="txtName" type="text" onfocus="validateIfEmpty('txtName')" onblur="validateIfEmpty('txtName')" onkeyup="validateIfEmpty('txtName')" /] [/td] [/tr] [tr] [td] Gender [/td] [td] [input id="txtGender" type="text" onfocus="validateIfEmpty('txtGender')" onblur="validateIfEmpty('txtGender')" onkeyup="validateIfEmpty('txtGender')" /] [/td] [/tr] [/table] [/div] [script type="text/javascript"] function validateIfEmpty(control) { var controlToValidate = document.getElementById(control); if (controlToValidate.value == "") { controlToValidate.style.background = "red"; } else { controlToValidate.style.background = "white"; } } [/script]
