(23 Feb 2018) SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT MODELS SHARE IDEAS ON MEN'S SWIMSUITS
What should men wear on the beach this summer? A speedo? Sunscreen? Or just a smile?
That depends on whom you ask. Recently, at an event celebrating this year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue; models shared their opinions of how men should dress for a day at the beach.
Former Miss America Olivia Jordan begins with the basics.
"My advice for everyone on the beach is wear sunscreen. Aging happens to all of us. SPF 100 or nothing," Jordan said.
Ashley Graham wants men to pack some self-assurance.
"Same advice I have for women: be confident in whatever you wear. Are you going to be in a Speedo next time?" Graham said.
Former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo was not sure, but she did stress being hygienic.
"Make sure there's a lining!" Culpo said.
Anne de Paula knows what she likes, and for her, less is more.
"Men in swimsuits? Well, I like... I like Speedos. People have some problems with that, but I don't mind. If you want to show your body too, no problem," de Paula said.
While the Speedo company makes a wide range of swimsuit attire, the term speedo is also used as an eponym to describe a certain style of skimpy, v-shaped, below the waist article of swimwear.
Whatever a man wants to wear is acceptable to Tabria Majors. She just wants you to love your body.
"Let it hang out and don't worry about what anyone else thinks," Majors said.
Jasmyn Wilkins agrees that men should be confident with whatever they choose to wear, and used some "colorful" language in describing it.
"Same advice I would give to a woman. You've got to rock it. It's all about confidence. If you want to wear the banana hammock, wear the banana hammock, wear the Speedo, but be confident."
But not everyone is a fan of a man wearing a speedo, or at least Raven Lyn.
"To be honest, I personally don't care for a speedo. Let's keep it in the shorts!" Lyn laughed.
