A220 Sedan vs C200
2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class vs 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Previously, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan was the standard compact sedan model for the Mercedes-Benz catalog. Only the CLA coupe was a more affordable option. However, that will change come early next year with the debut of the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class compact sedan. So, how will this new compact sedan model compare to the C-Class? It’s the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class and 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan comparison!
2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan
Obviously, just by its namesake, the A-Class is recognizable as the more compact of the 2 sedan options we’ll be talking about. However, that means it will also have the lower price tag, making it more affordable than the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan. It’s up to you to decide whether or not the sacrifices the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan makes in terms of size and power are enough to detract from its appeal.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan has 2 trim levels which are the 220 and the 220 4MATIC®* which obviously indicates that the later trim will be equipped with 4MATIC® All-Wheel Drive. Both models, however, have the same engine and power output. That would be a 2L turbocharged inline 4 engine that produces 188 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. From the driver’s seat, this is control through the use of a 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission.
2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan
Moving on to the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan, you have more cabin and cargo room, a lot more power, and a greater variety in terms of trim levels and engine options. The standard engine of the C-Class family has been revamped, debuting as a 2L turbocharged inline 4 engine that produces 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.
For AMG® models, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz C 43, or 2019 Mercedes-AMG® C 43 in this case, significantly upgrades the sedan’s performance. Although having the same engine type as the 2018 Mercedes-AMG® C 43, it has been retuned to provide more horsepower. The 2018 Mercedes-AMG® C 43 produced 362 horsepower while the 2019 Mercedes-AMG® C 43 will generate up to 385 horsepower! Additionally, an even bigger jump in terms of engine output is available with the 2019 Mercedes-AMG® C 63 models!
