This led us to the creation of a cool hip hop/classical mash-up, but again we could not get permission. Instead of scrapping the great ideas, we used them to create an original tune. You will hear influences and inspiration from other artists. Try and guess them. On the recording, Steven Sharp Nelson laid down over 100 tracks including cello textures never known possible. Every single sound on the video was made using only the instruments shown: piano, cello, mouth percussion and kick drum. We utilized some cool effects on lots of stuff...for example the U2-style delay on Steve's pizzicato at the beginning. The extra string on the electric cellos (the black cello has an extra high string and the white cello has an extra low string) allowed us to cover the full range of the orchestra. The deep bass drum sound is a bump on the body of the cello with a little help from some effects. The shaker sound was created by Steve rubbing rosin on his bow. The record scratch is Steve scratching a quarter on the strings...you get the idea. Fazıl Say - Turkish March (Türk Marşı)

02:55
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Piano Sonata No 11 in A - Major, K.331 III. Alla Turca – Allegretto The last movement, "Alla Turca", popularly known as the "Turkish March", is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces.Mozart himself titled the rondo "Alla Turca". It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands, the music of which was much in vogue at that time. Various other works of the time imitate this Turkish style, including Mozart's own opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. In Mozart's time, the last movement was sometimes performed on pianos built with a "Turkish stop", allowing it to be embellished with extra percussion effects. The form of the rondo is A-B-C-D-E-C-A-B-C-coda, with each section (except the coda) being repeated twice. Recorded during rehearsal at Enka Kültür Sanat Video by Mustafa Toygun Özdemir Composing is always a form of improvisation: with ideas, with musical particles, with imaginary shapes. And it is in this sense that the artistic itinerary and the world-view of the Turkish composer and pianist Fazıl Say should be understood. For it was from the free forms with which he became familiar in the course of his piano lessons with the Cortot pupil Mithat Fenmen that he developed an aesthetic outlook that constitutes the core of his self-conception as a composer. Fazıl Say has been touching audiences and critics alike for more than twenty-five years in a way that has become rare in the increasingly materialistic and elaborately organised classical music world. Concerts with this artist are something else. They are more direct, more open, more exciting; in short, they go straight to the heart. And the same may be said of his compositions.

Mozart: Complete Piano Sonatas

05:04:48
Download & Streams (Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, Deezer, Google Play and more): https://brilliant-classics.lnk.to/MozartCompleteSonatas More information: https://www.brilliantclassics.com/articles/m/mozart-complete-sonatas/ Facebook: https://facebook.com/Brilliantclassics Mozart’s piano sonatas date from 1773 until 1788 – a period in which his style matured at a truly remarkable rate. The earliest sonatas are very much in the galant style of W.F and CPE Bach, and in places Scarlatti’s influence can be detected. However, the late sonatas, such as K457 are full of surprises, and here the influence of Haydn is to the fore – even predicting Beethoven in passages. The years from 1773 to the late 80s saw the rapid development of the piano from a novelty and experimental instrument, to the stage where it’s power and range provided composers with a hitherto undreamed palate of colours and expression. Mozart exploited the new instruments to maximum effect in his concertos and his sonatas. Composer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Artist: Klara Würtz (piano) 00:00:00 Piano Sonata No.1 in C, K279: I. Mozart - Sonata for Two Pianos in D, K. 448 [complete]

24:18
The Sonata for Two Pianos in D major, K. 448 is a piano work composed in 1781 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, at 25 years of age. It is written in strict sonata-allegro form, with three movements. The sonata was composed for a performance he would give with fellow pianist Josephine von Aurnhammer. Mozart composed this in the galant style, with interlocking melodies and simultaneous cadences. This is one of his only formal compositions written exclusively for two pianos. This sonata was also used in the scientific study that tested the theory of the Mozart Effect, suggesting that classical music increases brain activity more positively than other kinds of music. The sonata is written in three movements, 1. Allegro con spirito 2. Andante and 3. Molto Allegro. The first movement begins in D major, and sets the tonal center with a strong introduction. The two pianos divide the main melody for the exposition, and when the theme is presented both play it simultaneously. Mozart spends little time in the development introducing a new theme unlike most sonata forms, and begins the recapitulation, repeating the first theme. The entire second movement is played Andante, in a very relaxed pace. The melody is played with both pianos, but there is no strong climax in this movement. It is written in a strict ABA form. Molto Allegro begins with a galloping theme. The cadences used in this movement are similar to those in Mozart's Rondo alla Turca. According to the British Epilepsy Organization, research has suggested that Mozart's K 448 can have the "Mozart effect", in that listening to the piano sonata improved spatial reasoning skills and reduce the number of seizures in people with epilepsy. Apart from another Mozart Concerto, K 488, only one other piece of music has been found to have a similar effect, a song by the Greek composer Yanni, entitled "Acroyali/Standing In Motion", which is featured on his album Yanni Live at the Acropolis. It was determined to have the "Mozart effect", by the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine because it was similar to Mozart's K 448 in tempo, structure, melodic and harmonic consonance and predictability. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREE .mp3 and .wav files of all Mozart's music at: http://www.mozart-archiv.de/ FREE sheet music scores of any Mozart piece at: http://dme.mozarteum.at/DME/nma/start.php?l=2 ALSO check out these cool sites: http://musopen.org/ and http://imslp.org/wiki/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: I do not know who the performers of this are, nor the place and date of recording!!! Mozart - Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550 [complete]

26:25
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV. 550, in 1788. It is sometimes referred to as the "Great G minor symphony," to distinguish it from the "Little G minor symphony," No. 25. The two are the only minor key symphonies Mozart wrote. The 40th Symphony was completed on 25 July 1788. The composition occupied an exceptionally productive period of just a few weeks in 1788, during which time he also completed the 39th and 41st symphonies (26 June and 10 August, respectively). The symphony is scored (in its revised version) for flute, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, and strings. Notably missing are trumpets and timpani. The work is in four movements, in the usual arrangement (fast movement, slow movement, minuet, fast movement) for a classical-style symphony: 1. Molto allegro, 2/2 2. Andante, 6/8 3. Menuetto. Allegretto -- Trio, 3/4 4. Finale. Allegro assai, 2/2. Every movement but the third is in sonata form; the minuet and trio are in the usual ternary form. This work has elicited varying interpretations from critics. Robert Schumann regarded it as possessing "Grecian lightness and grace". Donald Francis Tovey saw in it the character of opera buffa. Almost certainly, however, the most common perception today is that the symphony is tragic in tone and intensely emotional; for example, Charles Rosen (in The Classical Style) has called the symphony "a work of passion, violence, and grief." Although interpretations differ, the symphony is unquestionably one of Mozart's most greatly admired works, and it is frequently performed and recorded. Ludwig van Beethoven knew the symphony well, copying out 29 measures from the score in one of his sketchbooks. It is thought that the opening theme of the last movement may have inspired Beethoven in composing the third movement of his Fifth Symphony. Imagine Mozart and Adele in the same room in an intense co-write session, quill and pen in hand, respectively. Picturing this hypothetical hangout helped to spark the creative combination of the two. Haven't heard "Lacrimosa" from Mozart's Requiem? It is a powerful piece of music. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhYCaQkbkyw As you can hear, both tunes' divergent traits presented challenges. One wallows in a wide, painstakingly minor 12/8 time and the other drives a poignant bi-polar major/minor common time. One draws its power from the fullness of a grand chorus and orchestra, the other from the isolation of a lone voice and piano. One conforms to age-old counterpart canon and musical theory, while the other is conveyed via verse/chorus pop song parlance. However, they share the same fundamental feeling -- "Lacrimosa" (meaning "weeping" or "tearful") mournfully bemoans spiritual death, while "Hello" gripes about relationship regrets. Different centuries. Different realms. Same emotion. Perhaps we aren't as far from our predecessors as we think we are. You'll hear towards the end of the tune an attempt by both motifs to meet in the middle as the two textured melodies intertwine. In their respective stories both plead for reconciliation. Neither seemed to find it apart, but together they sing of a second chance. The sounds you hear were created by 100 tracks of acoustic and electric cello, an instrument that has been emoting for centuries – an apt candidate for the task of tying together "Hellocrimosa" (our alternate affectionate title). This video was filmed at one of our favorite locations: Tuacahn Amphitheatre, utilizing different patterns and settings of giant mirrors, diffused light, and some very cold fog. How is the camera not reflected in the mirrors? Simple. Magic! Ein Madchen oder Weibchen 3. Concerto for Clarinet in B flat Major K 622 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 -- 5 December 1791), baptised as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17, he was engaged as a court musician in Salzburg, but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position, always composing abundantly. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of his death. The circumstances of his early death have been much mythologized. He was survived by his wife Constanze and two sons. Mozart learned voraciously from others, and developed a brilliance and maturity of style that encompassed the light and graceful along with the dark and passionate. He composed over 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers, and his influence on subsequent Western art music is profound; Beethoven composed his own early works in the shadow of Mozart, and Joseph Haydn wrote that "posterity will not see such a talent again in 100 years." Jackson 5 and Bach were funky way before Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk! -"I Want You Bach"-The Piano Guys

If you are ever in Utah, you HAVE to see a production there: http://www.hct.org .THANK YOU, AMAZING HALE PEOPLE! Story behind the song What if the harpsichord from the 1770s hit headlong into the talk box from 1970s? What if J.S. Bach and Jackson 5 met up and just jammed? Would they jive? Can you dig it? These are the kind of far out questions we asked ourselves as we laid down these licks and cut this film. We decided to put together a gig with two wigs in dandy attire and two hep-cats in some funkadelic threads to see if it would fly. (Incidentally, Steve's 1770/1970 alter egos are "Sir Reginald von Sharp" and "Scooby" while Jon's are "Duke Johann van Keymeister" and "Phil.") Presenting… "I Want You Bach" – Jackson 5's funky "I Want You Back" mashed-up with 5 illustrious themes written by J.S. Bach. (See if you can catch them all – winner gets a free disco ball…which will be faxed to you). All the sounds you hear were created by the instruments shown – including the words "I Want You Back/Bach" simulated by a "talk box" (popularly used in the 1970's, but never with a cello!) Here's how it works: Steve plays cello notes through a micro speaker built into a foot pedal, the sound then travels through a tube and into his mouth where he shapes the notes into actual words. (Google "talk box" to learn more – it's pretty groovy.) To our knowledge, the likes of electric cello, grand piano, harpsichord, Baroque cello, talk box, and kick drum have never gigged together. Until now. It's totally the battle of the 70's – the 1770s and the 1970s…can you dig? Phil is tickling the ivories of a custom-built hybrid grand piano, while Scooby shreds on a custom 5-stringed electric cello complete with a sidecar kick drum. Conversely, Sir Reginald is playing a circa-1700-replica Baroque cello (no "why don't you fix it?" jokes, please), and Duke Johann is playing an actual harpsichord that was built and designed by Hale Centre Theatre. In fact, nearly everything you see in this video was provided by Hale Centre Theatre – from the sinking Piano/Cello platform down to the disco duds of Scooby and Phil opposite the Scarlett Pimpernel robes arrayed upon Johann and Sir Reggie. We filmed this using 4K resolution (a huge step up from 1080p and quickly becoming the new "high def"), allowing for more freedom and flexibility to zoom in and out of static shots (which helped us create the illusion that two different versions of Jon and Steve were jamming together.) Let us know what you think in the comments below! If you liked it – don't forget to flog the "thumbs up!" And if you've read this far into the description you're invited to either an evening of highbrow hobnobbing with Sir Reginald von Sharp and his entourage or a night of sick roller-skating with Phil and his dancing mustache. Please choose a 1770s/1970s alter ego name. We have to admit-this journey took us a lot further than we expected. Retracing our steps reveals several factors that made this a reality. As we started arranging it we had serious writer's block. Perhaps some of the worst we've ever had. In fact, one day instead of writing we went around the entire studio with a can of WD-40 and coated every piece of metal to ensure that we were a squeak-free studio. Then on a whim we decided to back away and take an entirely new approach to the song-an African approach. It may seem random in retrospect, but at the time it was an exciting way to restart the arrangement. It was working, but our journey still was on foot until we called in Alex Boye, one of the most talented people we've ever met. Alex has this contagious energy that gave new life to the song and to us. He sings the tune in 4 different languages: Swahili, English, Yoruba (his mother's native language), and Alex's own African "scat" (we'll call it...Scafrican) =) Most of the words you hear are translated from the lyrics in the original Coldplay Tune. We're huge fans of Alex -- We bet you are now too! When we had finished the arrangement we all agreed that listening to it was like taking a journey to somewhere remote and ruggedly beautiful. How were we to depict this... READ MORE HERE: http://goo.gl/3NAzE9 We'd like to thank from the bottom of our hearts, Duane Fielding who offered the helicopters and SkyHawk http://www.skyhawkhelicopters.com for not dropping the piano... :-) Half-way through the first day of shooting we discovered that, as typical guys, we had forgotten to bring ANY food or water to this remote location. We had two options: one, wrestle a mountain rodent and harvest cacti or two, starve. Duane, our head pilot, took pity on us. He took off (literally) and moments later landed in a Wendy's parking lot, ordered 5 of everything (sadly, he couldn't use the drive through) ...took off again and brought us chicken sandwiches and hamburgers via airmail. Thank you Duane! Flying in your helicopter was a dream come true for us despite the lack of doors. =) Filming location: http://g.co/maps/mker7 (Southern Utah) All the instruments you hear are REAL instruments. We wanted to be authentic about this. How To Play Piano Chico Marx Style, Pt. 1

03:09
Comedian Wayne Federman presents a short piano lesson demonstrating the three fundamentals of playing in the style of Chico Marx. I am obviously not as proficient as the amazing Chico but you get the idea. Again, this is just the basics: Shooting, Flicking, and Gliding (remember use only the NAIL of the middle finger). I will examine some other tricks and techniques (left hand smash, ragtime, intros, etc.) in my next tutorial, How To Play Piano Chico Marx Style Part 2. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx_Q3Gb4ADc Special thanks to the very talented pianist/actor Peter Slutsker (he played Chico on Broadway) who taught me the "glide." http://youtube.com/watch?v=Lsqv-E9Vmyg Chico playing in Night At The Opera

Let It Go (Disney's "Frozen") Vivaldi's Winter - The Piano Guys

Everything you see is real snow and ice. Story behind the song: So who doesn't love a story about an estranged ice princess, a dynamic mountain man/reindeer duo and a snowman obsessed with warm weather? We all loved the movie "Frozen" and its single, "Let It Go." So much emotion, energy and drama packed into one tune. But we thought we'd add a little more drama...by melting together "Let It Go" and themes from Vivaldi's classical piece, "Winter." (You can watch an impressive performance of the original here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu6Hr9kd-U0 - see if you can find where we used the main themes from each of the three movements.) Vivaldi's almost reckless string motives helped us surround the determined, upbeat melody and chords from "Let It Go" with intensity and uncertainty. We wanted the music to alternate between "freezing" and "thawing," representing the opposing forces throughout the "Frozen" story. We were extra ambitious about capturing as much definition of the ice as possible so we decided to give 4K a try (a step up from 1080p HD) using the "RED" camera (same camera used in filming "The Hobbit"). So we called up our buddy Jacob Schwartz who rented us his awesome camera set up! It was challenging for Paul and Shaye to learn a whole new system and camera minutes before the shoot, but after awhile started getting the hang of it...:-) Editing the video on the other hand was a whole new process in processing that 4k footage. It took us 4 times as long to edit the video and fix glitches that kept happening working with such large files! After this experience, we might have to give 4k a try again, but not until we've mastered the art of it all which this video got us on the path at least. Special thanks to Ryan Davis and his way cool crew at the Midway Ice Castles for hosting us. They built this winter palace one icicle at a time. Amazing! They were so nice and they really went the extra mile for us. Mozart for Studying #2 Best Music for Studying, Reading, Work, Concentration

Music from diverse regions of the world can successfully enhance concentration, memory, mental stamina, the ability to perceive sounds with accuracy and an increased focus on learning. This is an effective strategy for students preparing to take an entrance exam to get into their favorite college or university. Focus on Learning Music Neuroscience professionals recently studied these personal experiences by using objective methods to track the effects of early exposure to music and speech processing. The results were published in The Journal of Neuroscience. The studies concluded that studying music at an early age provides a variety of benefits for the brain through an entire lifetime. Benefits from a Focus on Learning Music Enjoy a variety of benefits, and study music at the same time. Direct experience is the best way to understand how concentration music can improve mental endurance. Individuals often wonder at this point if there is a difference in the type of music used for the following purposes: • Music for studying • Brain power music • Learning music • Music for exam The first important consideration involves the musical form itself, and the second consideration involves the background of the individual. All children experience music as an auditory experience, and this is true for written music as well as music with little or no musical notation. Concentration Music For Studying For the purposes of understanding the different elements at play when studying music for concentration, the two primary forms of music available are categorized as either written or oral. However, there is a significant amount of overlap between these two categories. For the purpose of using music to focus on learning, notation is a secondary device used primarily for documenting musical memories. Music to Study, and the Studying Playlist Instrumental music presents unique intellectual challenges, and it demands a high degree of coordination between the eyes, the ears and the hands. It does not take long to study music before obtaining benefits. Vocal music attracts people because the human voice has universal appeal. Selecting the right music to study usually involves listening with concentration to various elements including dynamic range, texture, counterpoint, harmony and rhythm. Research on studying music for concentration provides the basis for a school curriculum that helps students to focus on learning math and science by learning music first. The results are impressive. For example, a long study of music can help students get accepted into medical schools. It has also been linked to improved performance in the following areas: • Increased focus on learning • Pattern recognition • Doing homework • Exam preparation • College math • University applications • Study skills Instrumental music often relies heavily on musical notation, which is the foundation for abstract thinking and pattern recognition. Many professionals started their careers by enrolling in a program to study music. These successful professionals subsequently perceived the value of studying music for intellectual endurance, and they applied these skills to business writing, problem-solving, computer work and doing homework. Future professionals can develop a variety of transferable skills through: • Concentration music • Music for studying • Music for exams • Intellectual endurance • Business writing • Problem-solving • Computer work • Research and study skills Different areas of the brain light up and become active during a positive listening experience. This is why the most important consideration when developing a musical playlist is to use a musical style that is received with positive attention. Here is a recommended musical studying playlist that combines different forms of concentration music for studying from around the world: • Traditional African drumming patterns • Beethoven violin concerto • Classical Indian ragas • Meditation chants • Chopin piano music Concentration Music for Working These musical forms are effective learning tools, but they also generate good results as concentration music for working. Employees who use brain power music on the job experience less fatigue and enjoy a higher morale than employees in workplaces where music is not utilized.

We loved it. It combined two of the things we are working to accomplish -- inviting people to classical music and inspiring young musicians. Steven Sharp Nelson had soloed with the orchestra the previous year and loved the spirit and the talent that the orchestra showed at such young ages (ages 13-18!) Together we developed the concept of "Beethoven's 5 Secrets," combining OneRepublic's tune "Secrets" with melodies and moments from all four movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. We used 5 different melodies from the 4 movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony (not including the "bridge" the orchestra plays in the middle). Try to guess where they are and where they come from! What are Beethoven's secrets? He had many. His most prominent secret that he desperately tried to keep from the public and that caused him to be considered extremely eccentric, irritable, and hermit-like was his "weakness." He was deaf during most of his life. Imagine that...one of the greatest composers that ever lived could hardly hear. And yet, he wrote his life's greatest works after becoming deaf. He believed that art itself had "secrets" that had to be "forced into" in order to obtain art's highest level. There is no doubt Beethoven discovered many of the "secrets" of art -- people all over the world enjoy them every day. He was a true master of music, blessed by God. This piece and video are dedicated to him.
