Imagine Mozart and Adele in the same room in an intense co-write session, quill and pen in hand, respectively. Picturing this hypothetical hangout helped to spark the creative combination of the two. Haven't heard "Lacrimosa" from Mozart's Requiem? It is a powerful piece of music. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhYCaQkbkyw As you can hear, both tunes' divergent traits presented challenges. One wallows in a wide, painstakingly minor 12/8 time and the other drives a poignant bi-polar major/minor common time. One draws its power from the fullness of a grand chorus and orchestra, the other from the isolation of a lone voice and piano. One conforms to age-old counterpart canon and musical theory, while the other is conveyed via verse/chorus pop song parlance. However, they share the same fundamental feeling -- "Lacrimosa" (meaning "weeping" or "tearful") mournfully bemoans spiritual death, while "Hello" gripes about relationship regrets. Different centuries. Different realms. Same emotion. Perhaps we aren't as far from our predecessors as we think we are. You'll hear towards the end of the tune an attempt by both motifs to meet in the middle as the two textured melodies intertwine. In their respective stories both plead for reconciliation. Neither seemed to find it apart, but together they sing of a second chance. The sounds you hear were created by 100 tracks of acoustic and electric cello, an instrument that has been emoting for centuries – an apt candidate for the task of tying together "Hellocrimosa" (our alternate affectionate title). This video was filmed at one of our favorite locations: Tuacahn Amphitheatre, utilizing different patterns and settings of giant mirrors, diffused light, and some very cold fog. How is the camera not reflected in the mirrors? Simple. Magic! Fazıl Say - Turkish March (Türk Marşı)

02:55
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - Piano Sonata No 11 in A - Major, K.331 III. Alla Turca – Allegretto The last movement, "Alla Turca", popularly known as the "Turkish March", is often heard on its own and is one of Mozart's best-known piano pieces.Mozart himself titled the rondo "Alla Turca". It imitates the sound of Turkish Janissary bands, the music of which was much in vogue at that time. Various other works of the time imitate this Turkish style, including Mozart's own opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail. In Mozart's time, the last movement was sometimes performed on pianos built with a "Turkish stop", allowing it to be embellished with extra percussion effects. The form of the rondo is A-B-C-D-E-C-A-B-C-coda, with each section (except the coda) being repeated twice. Recorded during rehearsal at Enka Kültür Sanat Video by Mustafa Toygun Özdemir Composing is always a form of improvisation: with ideas, with musical particles, with imaginary shapes. And it is in this sense that the artistic itinerary and the world-view of the Turkish composer and pianist Fazıl Say should be understood. For it was from the free forms with which he became familiar in the course of his piano lessons with the Cortot pupil Mithat Fenmen that he developed an aesthetic outlook that constitutes the core of his self-conception as a composer. Fazıl Say has been touching audiences and critics alike for more than twenty-five years in a way that has become rare in the increasingly materialistic and elaborately organised classical music world. Concerts with this artist are something else. They are more direct, more open, more exciting; in short, they go straight to the heart. And the same may be said of his compositions.

Mozart: Complete Symphonies (Selection)

07:45:54
Online Purchase/Streaming (Spotify, Itunes store, Google Play, Deezer, Apple Play, Tidal, Amazon): https://brilliant-classics.lnk.to/Mozart-Complete-Symphonies From the Symphony No.1, composed when Mozart was just eight years old, to the mature and well-loved ‘Haffner’, ‘Prague’ and ‘Jupiter’ symphonies, this comprehensive 11-CD set collects together Mozart’s complete body of work in this genre, performed on period instruments by the Mozart Akademie Amsterdam and conducted by Jaap ter Linden. Mozart is recognised as one of the great composers of the Classical symphony, building upon the achievements made by his mentor Joseph Haydn to develop its form. At the time that he composed his Symphony No.1 in 1764, the symphony’s form was still closely linked to that of the French opera overture, with three short movements in a fast-slow-fast pattern. Gradually, composers like Haydn began to expand this structure to the four-movement form that we are familiar with as the Classical symphony. These fascinating developments in style and structure can be heard in Mozart’s changing approach to symphonic composition throughout his career, and the booklet notes that accompany this release trace such developments in depth.

Yet, if one were to ask where his most innovative contributions lie, it would arguably be within the realm of the classical piano concerto. The challenge for the late 18th-century composers was that of reconciling the Baroque concerto form’s strongest features (distinct timbral contrats between a solo instrumentalist and an orchestra, plus brillant solo writing) with the new style of sonata-allegro. An accomplished virtuoso himself, Mozart elevated the piano soloist’s function to new levels of expression, technique, and dramatic momentum. Consequently, the piano and orchestra were not merely equal partners, but distinct characters in their own right. Mozart’s concertos, however, were far from concert hall staples in the early 20th century. Yet the tide began to turn. A new generation of classically oriented keyboard luminaries, whose ranks included Wanda Landowska, Walter Gieseking, Edwin Fischer and Arthur Schnabel, helped further the cause, as did Lili Kraus. Kraus likened her affinity with Mozart to a mission : ''When I began to explore Mozart, I discovered the infinite beauty of that music, and somehow it is given to me to give life to that beauty. I find it my God-given duty, privilege, and if you like, cross, to consecrate my life to this music.'' Certain pianists and composers become inextricably linked in the eyes of the public. Mention Glenn Gould, for instance, and Bach’s Goldberg Variations come to mind. Artur Schnabel and Beethoven were virtually synonymous; so were Walter Gieseking and Debussy, Arthur Rubinstein and Chopin, Alicia de Larrocha and the Spanish Impressionists. When it came to Mozart’s piano music, several generations of listeners and collector considered Lili Kraus’s interpretations to be the last word… From the synopsis by Jed Distler Mozart - Piano Concertos 9 Jeunehomme,15,16,1,2,3,4,5,6,8 (Century's recording : Lili Kraus/Simon) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHwmL8Md22w&list=PL3UZpQL9LIxMe6H3Sfn2lvPVFzrvhhPO7&t=33s&index=3 Mozart - Piano Concertos No.11,12,13,14,17,18,19 (recording of the Century : Lili Kraus/Simon) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZntL9Y7vcDM&index=2&list=PL3UZpQL9LIxMe6H3Sfn2lvPVFzrvhhPO7 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart PLAYLIST (reference recordings) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3UZpQL9LIxMe6H3Sfn2lvPVFzrvhhPO7 Click to buy the complete edition : https://www.amazon.com/Kraus-Plays-Mozart-Piano-Concer/dp/B01HSI7QDA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1522751653&sr=1-1&keywords=lili+kraus+mozart

This led us to the creation of a cool hip hop/classical mash-up, but again we could not get permission. Instead of scrapping the great ideas, we used them to create an original tune. You will hear influences and inspiration from other artists. Try and guess them. On the recording, Steven Sharp Nelson laid down over 100 tracks including cello textures never known possible. Every single sound on the video was made using only the instruments shown: piano, cello, mouth percussion and kick drum. We utilized some cool effects on lots of stuff...for example the U2-style delay on Steve's pizzicato at the beginning. The extra string on the electric cellos (the black cello has an extra high string and the white cello has an extra low string) allowed us to cover the full range of the orchestra. The deep bass drum sound is a bump on the body of the cello with a little help from some effects. The shaker sound was created by Steve rubbing rosin on his bow. The record scratch is Steve scratching a quarter on the strings...you get the idea. When it came to Mozart’s piano music, several generations of listeners and collector considered Lili Kraus’s interpretations to be the last word… From the synopsis by Jed Distler Mozart - Piano Concertos 9 Jeunehomme,15,16,1,2,3,4,5,6,8 (Century's recording : Lili Kraus/Simon) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHwmL8Md22w&list=PL3UZpQL9LIxMe6H3Sfn2lvPVFzrvhhPO7&t=33s&index=3 Mozart - Piano Concertos No.20,21,22,23,24,25,26,27 (recording of the Century : Lili Kraus/Simon) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvRhkZLM__E&t=25s&list=PL3UZpQL9LIxMe6H3Sfn2lvPVFzrvhhPO7&index=1 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart PLAYLIST (reference recordings) https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3UZpQL9LIxMe6H3Sfn2lvPVFzrvhhPO7 Click to buy the complete edition : https://www.amazon.com/Kraus-Plays-Mozart-Piano-Concer/dp/B01HSI7QDA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1522751653&sr=1-1&keywords=lili+kraus+mozart
Mozart - Sonata for Two Pianos in D, K. 448 [complete]

24:18
The Sonata for Two Pianos in D major, K. 448 is a piano work composed in 1781 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, at 25 years of age. It is written in strict sonata-allegro form, with three movements. The sonata was composed for a performance he would give with fellow pianist Josephine von Aurnhammer. Mozart composed this in the galant style, with interlocking melodies and simultaneous cadences. This is one of his only formal compositions written exclusively for two pianos. This sonata was also used in the scientific study that tested the theory of the Mozart Effect, suggesting that classical music increases brain activity more positively than other kinds of music. The sonata is written in three movements, 1. Allegro con spirito 2. Andante and 3. Molto Allegro. The first movement begins in D major, and sets the tonal center with a strong introduction. The two pianos divide the main melody for the exposition, and when the theme is presented both play it simultaneously. Mozart spends little time in the development introducing a new theme unlike most sonata forms, and begins the recapitulation, repeating the first theme. The entire second movement is played Andante, in a very relaxed pace. The melody is played with both pianos, but there is no strong climax in this movement. It is written in a strict ABA form. Molto Allegro begins with a galloping theme. The cadences used in this movement are similar to those in Mozart's Rondo alla Turca. According to the British Epilepsy Organization, research has suggested that Mozart's K 448 can have the "Mozart effect", in that listening to the piano sonata improved spatial reasoning skills and reduce the number of seizures in people with epilepsy. Apart from another Mozart Concerto, K 488, only one other piece of music has been found to have a similar effect, a song by the Greek composer Yanni, entitled "Acroyali/Standing In Motion", which is featured on his album Yanni Live at the Acropolis. It was determined to have the "Mozart effect", by the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine because it was similar to Mozart's K 448 in tempo, structure, melodic and harmonic consonance and predictability. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- FREE .mp3 and .wav files of all Mozart's music at: http://www.mozart-archiv.de/ FREE sheet music scores of any Mozart piece at: http://dme.mozarteum.at/DME/nma/start.php?l=2 ALSO check out these cool sites: http://musopen.org/ and http://imslp.org/wiki/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: I do not know who the performers of this are, nor the place and date of recording!!! Mozart - Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550 [complete]

26:25
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote his Symphony No. 40 in G minor, KV. 550, in 1788. It is sometimes referred to as the "Great G minor symphony," to distinguish it from the "Little G minor symphony," No. 25. The two are the only minor key symphonies Mozart wrote. The 40th Symphony was completed on 25 July 1788. The composition occupied an exceptionally productive period of just a few weeks in 1788, during which time he also completed the 39th and 41st symphonies (26 June and 10 August, respectively). The symphony is scored (in its revised version) for flute, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, and strings. Notably missing are trumpets and timpani. The work is in four movements, in the usual arrangement (fast movement, slow movement, minuet, fast movement) for a classical-style symphony: 1. Molto allegro, 2/2 2. Andante, 6/8 3. Menuetto. Allegretto -- Trio, 3/4 4. Finale. Allegro assai, 2/2. Every movement but the third is in sonata form; the minuet and trio are in the usual ternary form. This work has elicited varying interpretations from critics. Robert Schumann regarded it as possessing "Grecian lightness and grace". Donald Francis Tovey saw in it the character of opera buffa. Almost certainly, however, the most common perception today is that the symphony is tragic in tone and intensely emotional; for example, Charles Rosen (in The Classical Style) has called the symphony "a work of passion, violence, and grief." Although interpretations differ, the symphony is unquestionably one of Mozart's most greatly admired works, and it is frequently performed and recorded. Ludwig van Beethoven knew the symphony well, copying out 29 measures from the score in one of his sketchbooks. It is thought that the opening theme of the last movement may have inspired Beethoven in composing the third movement of his Fifth Symphony. If you are ever in Utah, you HAVE to see a production there: http://www.hct.org .THANK YOU, AMAZING HALE PEOPLE! Story behind the song What if the harpsichord from the 1770s hit headlong into the talk box from 1970s? What if J.S. Bach and Jackson 5 met up and just jammed? Would they jive? Can you dig it? These are the kind of far out questions we asked ourselves as we laid down these licks and cut this film. We decided to put together a gig with two wigs in dandy attire and two hep-cats in some funkadelic threads to see if it would fly. (Incidentally, Steve's 1770/1970 alter egos are "Sir Reginald von Sharp" and "Scooby" while Jon's are "Duke Johann van Keymeister" and "Phil.") Presenting… "I Want You Bach" – Jackson 5's funky "I Want You Back" mashed-up with 5 illustrious themes written by J.S. Bach. (See if you can catch them all – winner gets a free disco ball…which will be faxed to you). All the sounds you hear were created by the instruments shown – including the words "I Want You Back/Bach" simulated by a "talk box" (popularly used in the 1970's, but never with a cello!) Here's how it works: Steve plays cello notes through a micro speaker built into a foot pedal, the sound then travels through a tube and into his mouth where he shapes the notes into actual words. (Google "talk box" to learn more – it's pretty groovy.) To our knowledge, the likes of electric cello, grand piano, harpsichord, Baroque cello, talk box, and kick drum have never gigged together. Until now. It's totally the battle of the 70's – the 1770s and the 1970s…can you dig? Phil is tickling the ivories of a custom-built hybrid grand piano, while Scooby shreds on a custom 5-stringed electric cello complete with a sidecar kick drum. Conversely, Sir Reginald is playing a circa-1700-replica Baroque cello (no "why don't you fix it?" jokes, please), and Duke Johann is playing an actual harpsichord that was built and designed by Hale Centre Theatre. In fact, nearly everything you see in this video was provided by Hale Centre Theatre – from the sinking Piano/Cello platform down to the disco duds of Scooby and Phil opposite the Scarlett Pimpernel robes arrayed upon Johann and Sir Reggie. We filmed this using 4K resolution (a huge step up from 1080p and quickly becoming the new "high def"), allowing for more freedom and flexibility to zoom in and out of static shots (which helped us create the illusion that two different versions of Jon and Steve were jamming together.) Let us know what you think in the comments below! If you liked it – don't forget to flog the "thumbs up!" And if you've read this far into the description you're invited to either an evening of highbrow hobnobbing with Sir Reginald von Sharp and his entourage or a night of sick roller-skating with Phil and his dancing mustache. Please choose a 1770s/1970s alter ego name. We have to admit-this journey took us a lot further than we expected. Retracing our steps reveals several factors that made this a reality. As we started arranging it we had serious writer's block. Perhaps some of the worst we've ever had. In fact, one day instead of writing we went around the entire studio with a can of WD-40 and coated every piece of metal to ensure that we were a squeak-free studio. Then on a whim we decided to back away and take an entirely new approach to the song-an African approach. It may seem random in retrospect, but at the time it was an exciting way to restart the arrangement. It was working, but our journey still was on foot until we called in Alex Boye, one of the most talented people we've ever met. Alex has this contagious energy that gave new life to the song and to us. He sings the tune in 4 different languages: Swahili, English, Yoruba (his mother's native language), and Alex's own African "scat" (we'll call it...Scafrican) =) Most of the words you hear are translated from the lyrics in the original Coldplay Tune. We're huge fans of Alex -- We bet you are now too! When we had finished the arrangement we all agreed that listening to it was like taking a journey to somewhere remote and ruggedly beautiful. How were we to depict this... READ MORE HERE: http://goo.gl/3NAzE9 We'd like to thank from the bottom of our hearts, Duane Fielding who offered the helicopters and SkyHawk http://www.skyhawkhelicopters.com for not dropping the piano... :-) Half-way through the first day of shooting we discovered that, as typical guys, we had forgotten to bring ANY food or water to this remote location. We had two options: one, wrestle a mountain rodent and harvest cacti or two, starve. Duane, our head pilot, took pity on us. He took off (literally) and moments later landed in a Wendy's parking lot, ordered 5 of everything (sadly, he couldn't use the drive through) ...took off again and brought us chicken sandwiches and hamburgers via airmail. Thank you Duane! Flying in your helicopter was a dream come true for us despite the lack of doors. =) Filming location: http://g.co/maps/mker7 (Southern Utah) All the instruments you hear are REAL instruments. We wanted to be authentic about this. Mozart - Alla Turca aka Turkish March | 60 Minutes Version

01:00:50
Rondo Alla Turca by Mozart arranged for Piano and Orchestra produced in a special LP record version, performed for more than one hour. Here you can listen to the live perfomance of the same piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScsJ8GOlM7Y This version of the Alla Turca, also known as the Turkish March is the only one accompanied by a symphony orchestra for a more soothing and deep sound of this true master piece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Performed & Arranged by Georgii Cherkin - piano Classic FM Orchestra, conducted by Grigor Palikarov The melodic lines in the orchestra are more in the style of Beethoven & Tchaikovsky than Mozart, and remind a little bit of the James Bond Theme, but the concept of the piece is originally followed. Let's say that this is a modern version of the Turkish March enhanced with the rich orchestral sound. If you like it, please subscribe to this channel, for more innovative & enjoyable music like this to come soon! Thanks for watching!

He has maintained worldwide renown as a leading musician of his era, one whose "poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation." All of Chopin's compositions include the piano. Most are for solo piano, though he also wrote two piano concertos, a few chamber pieces, and some 19 songs set to Polish lyrics. His piano writing was technically demanding and expanded the limits of the instrument: his own performances were noted for their nuance and sensitivity. Chopin invented the concept of the instrumental ballade. His major piano works also include mazurkas, waltzes, nocturnes, polonaises, études, impromptus, scherzos, preludes and sonatas, some published only posthumously. Among the influences on his style of composition were Polish folk music, the classical tradition of J. S. Bach, Mozart, and Schubert, and the atmosphere of the Paris salons of which he was a frequent guest. His innovations in style, harmony, and musical form, and his association of music with nationalism, were influential throughout and after the late Romantic period.
