See How to Travel by Train in Germany

06:08
Hello Hoppers! The first time I took a train in Germany I was lucky enough to have a friend explain where and when I had to go. Because we don't always have help at hand, in this video I give you some pointers to make train travel through Germany easier. I go step by step, through the whole procedure, how to buy a train ticket, read the timetables, find your seat, ... In this video I go from Mannheim to Nuremberg, with a transfer in Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof (Hbf = Hauptbahnhof = main train station), and back. If you want to see more on my visit to Nuremberg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us3OFpG_zlo CORRECTION: DB used to stand for "Deutsche Bundesbahn" (German Federal Railways), but not anymore, since 1994 it's just "Deutsche Bahn". Website of the Deutsche Bahn, or German Rail System, for information, departure times, and purchase of tickets: http://www.bahn.com/i/view/USA/en/index.shtml For more info on DB Lounges: http://www.bahn.com/i/view/GBR/en/services/overview/first_class_lounges.shtml Thanks for watching Hoppers. Thank you so much Further information: This video reviews the train journey from Bergen to Oslo, Norway in October 2017. Captions will give you further information and tips about this very scenic journey. This train is run by Norway national state railways: NSB (Norges Statsbaner AS). I read so much about it and unfortunately a previous trip to Oslo didn't give me the chance to experience this epic train journey on the Bergen Line (Bergensbanen). Known for its wet weather, Bergen offered a stunning sunny and crisp weather for my stay there and (apart for some morning mist), I enjoy the same sunny weather during my journey to Oslo. The views were spectacular and the autumn colours added a special dimension to the landscape offered. The time flew past and the changing landscape from fjords, barren high altitude plateau, snow capped mountains and pine forests and lakes kept my attention high throughout the journey. I can't recommend enough this experience. Is it one of Europe's or the World's best train journey? You decide - maybe from this video or experiencing for yourself. I bought the tickets online directly from NSB: https://www.nsb.no/en/frontpage My train journey was to take more than the 6hr 45 min scheduled. The train was delayed by more than an hour - a quick search online confirmed that I was entitled to a refund for such a delay: https://www.nsb.no/en/our-tickets/booking-conditions/how-to-claim-a-refund-and-compensation The train also stops at Myrdal station where you can take the branch line to Flåm. This service is privately run and tickets can be bought on the link below: https://booking.visitflam.com/en/to-do/a1488268/the-fl%c3%a5m-railway/showdetails Video includes footage of Bergen train station, carriages (in first class "Komfort", 2nd class and "Kafe" the cafeteria section). Taking Your Dog on a Train in Europe

04:34
We've been traveling around Europe with our Standard Poodle, James. Most of the trains in Europe are dog friendly. In fact, we haven't found a train that wasn't dog friendly yet. I explain this in the video - but when you are researching train tickets online, you can't seem to buy them once you add a "dog" or "hund" to your search terms. We couldn't figure this out so we went and asked at the OBB train ticket office in Vienna. When you travel with your dog, you have to buy the tickets in person at the train station. I go into the office knowing exactly what date and time and train number I want and then I buy two tickets and one dog ticket. So far, only one train has been sold out where there wasn't an option for a dog ticket. And that was a night train from Vienna to Venice. When traveling on a night train with your dog, you have to book a private sleeper cabin. But on most other trains you just buy your tickets that day or a few days in advance and pick an open seat. There is usually an option to reserve a seat for a little extra but you don't usually need that unless you are traveling on a busy date (holidays, some Fridays or Sundays). And some trains do require you to reserve a seat - usually the high speed trains. The local regional trains are even easier for traveling with your dog. Those tickets can be bought at a kiosk at the train station on the day you travel. Keep in mind most local and regional train tickets are open-ended (they aren't for a set time and sometimes not even a set date) so you MUST validate the ticket using the machines on the platform. Otherwise you could get in trouble when the conductor checks your tickets - if your ticket isn't validated, it is as if you don't have a ticket at all. We also travel with a muzzle for James. Some conductors will ask you to put your muzzle on your dog. It depends on the country. Almost everywhere in Austria required a muzzle and one train in Italy asked for us to put J's muzzle on him. You also need to have an EU pet passport for your dog. We haven't been asked for this yet on a train (we also haven't been asked for our passports on a train) but you do need to be prepared and have it if asked. Music: Clover 3 by Vibe Mountain

TRAVEL TIP: How to take the Train in Vietnam (SLEEPER CABIN EDITION)

06:01
// ABOUT // Transportation in Vietnam is back to the basics. Car rentals are a no-go for travelers, leaving you with three options: fly, train or bus. Finding the necessary information to make the right decision on which train ticket to by in Vietnam can be very daunting! Travel tips: ✔ BOOK ONLINE TICKETS OR AT THE TRAIN STATION! http://bit.ly/2C5hohN. Other companies that appear first in your Google search are double the cost as they are third party travel companies adding a ton of commissions and fees. ✔ BOOK AT LEAST A FEW DAYS IN ADVANCED! The train fills up quickly and if you're travelling with a partner you may not get to sit together if you leave booking until the last minute. ✔ BOOK THE BOTTOM BEDS! This way you won't have to constantly be climbing up to your top bunk beds. You also get access to the small table and better window visibility to sightsee. ✔ BOOK THE SLEEPER CABIN BED OR SOFT SEAT? This is a decision you will have to make on your own. We've outlined the pros and cons of both options in this episode and the second edition version. ✔ PACK FOOD! Most of food carts do not come by the sleeper cabins so you're left with a ton of packaged junk food. The meals you can purchase on the train are cheap but not great quality. For the same price you could grab a healthy and delicious meal from the market before getting on the train. ✔ PACK HAND SANITIZER AND A FACE MASK! The washrooms are unbearable with mess and smell. Also, if you're trying not to get sick the mask will help. // EQUIPMENT // DJI Phantom 4 http://bit.ly/2krqzgN SmallHD http://bit.ly/2rEnWei DJI OSMO http://bit.ly/2s9XufU iPhone6s http://apple.co/2rotMkr // LOCATIONS // Danang, Vietnam http://bit.ly/2DNAtTZ Nha Trang, Vietnam http://bit.ly/2zs5fOM // HANG WITH US // ➳ Instagram http://bit.ly/2sVw52y ➳ Twitter http://bit.ly/2sqBwW9 ➳ Instagram http://bit.ly/2tO0n4f

This is my third Virgin West Coast Trip Report and probably the most comprehensive. I really enjoyed this brief journey, of just over two hours. We travel from London Euston station and head for Liverpool Lime Street. City centre to city centre, it’s 2h12 minutes of pleasant scenery and tasty food, with breakfast served to my seat. Virgin provide good value for money on this route. My ticket cost around £30 and included lounge access, free WiFi, onboard entertainment, and a cooked breakfast and beverages. Not bad. Of course, you have to book ahead to get the best deals! Next UK train trip will be uploaded in 4 weeks’ time - it’ll be a belter, the GWR Pullman. Until then, I’ve got three air trips to publish. The signalling maps featured can be found here: http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps Enjoy the report. Do you have any ideas for future trip reports? Something you've never seen on YouTube before? 43:58
In this journey from Moskou to Magadan, Jelle visited numerous areas of Russia. It's time for the trip back, and he choses to take the train for it. Taking a train in Russia, is like a small incursian in Russian daily lives. Original title: Het spoor terug What's left of communism? How big are the differences between the poor and the rich? What is the influence of corruption? Is Russia a "young democracy" (as former Dutch prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende previously said)? Is it a "sovereign democracy" (according to Putin) or a "fascist regime" (as read in The Economist)? Jelle Brandt Corstius is looking for the topics that rule the life of ordinary Russians in Russia. We travel a lot by car, carpool, Buses, but then rarely do we travel by train unless there are those that live in a big city. Even when I lived in Dallas, the complexity was not as difficult as those in the European countries. So this video is both for comedic relief, as well as to help those who do want to travel across Europe. The start of the video is in Prague, when I thought I was so overwhelmed by the 'VAST train station' ---- yet then was headed to the largest and most complex train station in Europe......Berlin. Steps to not screwing up backpacking through Europe: 1- buy ticket, reserve seat & make sure you are there at least 30 minutes early so you don't miss your train. Especially if you are traveling across countries. 2- Get on the right train, via the right platform, and make sure that the car you enter is the exact car you need to take (apparently the cars separate at different stops and you don't want to be left behind unknowingly) --- IF YOU DON'T KNOW, ASK!!!! Ask after you get on the train if you must, they will close the doors when the conductor blows the whistle. 3- Once seated, look at your ticket......look at the next platform you need to go to and when your train arrives and when the next departs. You will need to know this because you may need to run across the station to platform 12b from platform 1a in 15 minutes......and there is always the slow person.... 4- Keep your ticket in hand! You need it to scan in and scan out of each of the train stations. The ticket must be current, or you can get a fine. If you have a Eurail Pass, you can just scan the code on the outside of the ticket to get through the gates. The Eurail tickets sometimes have their own gates, so try to go with the gate not everyone is going through (if you can't understand the Language). 5- Make sure you are getting on the right type of train. If you get on the wrong train you can still get fined. It may be going to the right place, but if you get on the faster train or get on an inter-city train instead, you can get fined. Just hold your ticket up and flash it in people's faces (NOT FORCEFULLY) just a gentle suggestion as 'if anyone is looking at this, maybe they will tell me it's the wrong ticket, lol' 6- Bring your own water, your phone charger, and a travel pillow --- especially if you have a sleeper train -- small backpacks are the best.....just minimize by packing like the news told you the city was going to be bombed and you had 15 minutes before you had to be evacuated. That will get you everything you need in one bag. Yes you will probably smell......bring Febreeze.....trust me.....there are people who smell worse on the trains. Traveling Ecuador by train | DW Travel Documentary

42:26
The train line through Ecuador is considered one of the most spectacular train lines in South America. A train journey of discovery. The Trans-Andean railroad takes in the infamous Nariz del Diablo, or Devil’s Nose, a mountain with almost perpendicular walls. To overcome this obstacle, the train zigzags to ascend 500 meters in less than 12 kilometers. With steep ascents and descents, it’s no ride for the faint-hearted! The main line along the country’s Andean spine links the coastal city of Guayaquil with the capital Quito. It was finished in 1908, but was mostly shut down after a series of weather-related disasters destroyed much of the Ecuadorian rail network in the 1990s. After extensive restoration, a new cross-Andean service was opened in 2013, following the original narrow-gauge line. It’s 450 kilometers long and runs from the Pacific coast up to the Andean highlands. On its cross-country journey, the train is accompanied by guards on motorcycles who, in the absence of railway gates, stop traffic at every level crossing along the way to let the train pass. The Tren Crucero, - or "cruise train"- is the centerpiece of Ecuador’s rejuvenated railway. A revamped luxury steam train, it runs once a fortnight and has room for 54 passengers. The most exhilarating stretch of the ride begins deep down in the gorge of the River Chanchán. The train zigzags up the Nariz del Diablo - the "Devil's Nose" - in a series of dizzying switchbacks in which the tracks almost seem to lie on top of each other. Join the reporters for the ride of a lifetime, as the train journeys on to Urbina, the highest station at 3,609 meters above sea level, and along the so-called Avenue of Volcanoes, to the Cotopaxi National Park and onwards to Quito, the world's highest capital. _______ DW Documentary gives you knowledge beyond the headlines. I took a 2AC Indian Train from Bandra Station in Mumbai to Udaipur overnight from 16:15 to 9:00 as a solo female traveller. This was my first Indian train experience and I really enjoyed it! I didn't know how to find my carriage, where to put my bag, where to get dinner, what the toilets would be like and the safety of my things but I worked it all out and I really enjoyed being in the 2 Sleeper section of an Indian Train. I nearly got a flight from Mumbai to Udaipur but I wanted to experience a local way of travelling and I'm so glad I did! VLOG 10 from my Full Time Travels! Thank you for watching. We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before Nate turns 30 (which is March 20, 2019)! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Traveling in Morocco by Train

14:00
I traveled alone in Morocco in January, 2012, from Casablanca to Marrakesh and then from Marrakesh to Tanger, all by train, a total of about 12 hours in transit. This video clip shows the train stations in Casablanca and Tanger and explains some of the nuances. My destination in Tanger was La Tangerina hotel in the Kasbah, so I show some footage of the hotel and the Kasbah as well.
