This video demonstrrates the installation of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS operating system on a Windows (Lenovo) PC. I'm using the free EaseUS Partition Manager utility. I do not work for EaseUS. My video quality is poor, I know, but I'll try to improve this video in the future. Thanks for watching. REMEMBER TO BACK UP ALL OF YOUR DATA!

How to Recover Data from Corrupt Harddrive in Linux

09:00
Tutorial on how to successfully recover data from a Severely Corrupted hard drive in Ubuntu Linux using Testdisk and Photorec. A “professional” repair shop attempted recovery of data from this Windows Laptop drive, but failed. Using Testdisk in Linux I recovered about 70% of the drive. (Could have been more, but it was crippling my system and running horrifically slow) sudo apt-get install smartmontools sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends smartmontools Find out drive number with GUI tools, Gparted, or “fdisk -l” sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdx sudo testdisk /dev/sdx Take a backup image if you have enough disk space spare on your system sudo photorec image.dd (or /dev/sdx) find . -type f \( -iname "*.jpg" -o -iname "*.jpeg" -o -iname "*.png" \) -exec cp '{}' /destination/ \; Wallpaper: http://quidsup.net?i=NeonPacman

How to clone a HDD to SSD using a live Linux CD

09:38
While there are many commercial products for cloning a hard disk including shrinking the OS partition, this video shows how to do that using a freely available Live Linux OS, which can be booted from CD or a USB stick. Although I use System Rescue CD in this video, this process works with many Live Linux distributions, including Trinity Rescue Kit and Parted Magic. As the partitions to copy must be resized or moved so they copy to within the SSD with a 1:1 clone, I also show how to keep the recovery partition (or other partition) on the original HDD that is outside the SSD's outer boundary. Normally this would result in an unbootable SSD with a 1:1 clone due to the copied partition table having an entry pointing outside the drive's outer boundary. Note: I haven't tried this with a GUID GPT disk, I'd expect it to be a similar process, but involving gdisk instead of fdisk. This video contains all the sequences throughout the clone process, including the first boot after the SSD is installed, the 'Found new hardware' process and what the performance is like straight away. The only sequences that were shortened were the clone stage (took about an hour), a few mouse & keyboard operations in Linux and the chkdsk operation that Gparted triggers on the first boot. 12:42
GRUB bootloader gets overrided if you install Windows after Ubuntu. I make this video tutorial on how to restore and customize the GRUB loader. Common Problem: You install Windows after you install Ubuntu. That erases the GRUB loader, and instead of being able to switch between Ubuntu and Windows, Windows will boot automatically. Steps: 1) Create a bootable USB Flash Drive of Ubuntu. - Download Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop - Download and install Universal USB Installer http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ - Create bootable USB flash drive of Ubuntu 2) Restart computer and boot into Ubuntu. 3) Use try Ubuntu and install boot-repair. Commands: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install boot-repair y boot-repair 4) Recommended repair. 5) Afterwards, if you restart, you can see the GRUB Bootloader again. You can select between Ubuntu and Windows. 6) Use Ubuntu Next parts will be customizing Ubuntu GRUB Bootloader: 8) Open a terminal: sudo fdisk -l 9) Keep track of what sda number is Windows partition on. 10) Customize GRUB bootloader cd /boot/grub sudo gedit grub.cfg 11) Delete any duplicate entries that do not match sda number correctly, and delete any extra entries that you may never use. How to create Partition on Windows 10 | Partition Hard Drives

07:19
In this video we will see How to reformat and partition a hard drive on a Windows PC. Disk partitioning is essentially separating the hard disk into different sections or parts for storage. If you want to try a new operating system without overwriting your main Windows drive, you can do this partitioning the hard drive. Partitioning the hard disk also makes it possible to multiboot different operating systems. In addition to creating multiboot configurations, you can also use partitions as extra storage mediums for specific files or for backing up important files. -------------------Online Courses to learn---------------------------- Data Analytics with R Certification Training- http://bit.ly/2rSKHNP DevOps Certification Training - http://bit.ly/2T5P6bQ AWS Architect Certification Training - http://bit.ly/2PRHDeF Python Certification Training for Data Science - http://bit.ly/2BB3PV8 Java, J2EE & SOA Certification Training - http://bit.ly/2EKbwMK AI & Deep Learning with TensorFlow - http://bit.ly/2AeIHUR Big Data Hadoop Certification Training- http://bit.ly/2ReOl31 AWS Architect Certification Training - http://bit.ly/2EJhXjk Selenium Certification Training - http://bit.ly/2BFrfZs Tableau Training & Certification - http://bit.ly/2rODzSK Linux Administration Certification Training-http://bit.ly/2Gy9GQH ----------------------Follow--------------------------------------------- My Website - http://www.codebind.com My Blog - https://goo.gl/Nd2pFn My Facebook Page - https://goo.gl/eLp2cQ Google+ - https://goo.gl/lvC5FX Twitter - https://twitter.com/ProgrammingKnow Pinterest - https://goo.gl/kCInUp Text Case Converter - https://goo.gl/pVpcwL ------------------Facebook Links ---------------------------------------- http://fb.me/ProgrammingKnowledgeLearning/ http://fb.me/AndroidTutorialsForBeginners http://fb.me/Programmingknowledge http://fb.me/CppProgrammingLanguage http://fb.me/JavaTutorialsAndCode http://fb.me/SQLiteTutorial http://fb.me/UbuntuLinuxTutorials http://fb.me/EasyOnlineConverter

How to safely delete Ubuntu or any Linux from a Dual-Boot with Windows 7/8/10

07:30
Link to Minitool Partition Wizard: https://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html In this video i demonstrate the safe way to delete Ubuntu or any operating system that is dual booted along side windows 7. I use a program called Minitool Partition Wizard which is a free software that you can find by searching Google. The wizard displays your drives and partitions a bit like the disk management utility in windows. When you install Linux along side windows, Linux replaces the windows bootloader with one of it's own called 'Grub' Grub displays the Linux OS and your Windows OS and you can choose which OS you want to boot into. When you delete the Linux partitions you also delete Grub so you are left with no bootloader and Windows will fail to boot up. With Minitool Partition Wizard you can rebuild the MBR which will restore the Windows bootloader and allow you to boot back into Windows. I hope this video helped you. If you have any questions give me a shout. Thanks for watching!

Windows 10 Tutorial: Shrink, Partition, Extend Disk Volumes

02:39
Free Download and manage your Drive: http://bit.ly/2NFzXMa Read the Tutorial / More Information http://www.joshuacasper.com/random-tutorial/windows-10-shrink-partition-extend-disk-volumes/ This is how to Shrink a volume, split off a partition, delete volumes, and combine or extend volumes in Windows 10. In this video tutorial I will be showing you how to first free up space to allocate to a new drive partition. Then I will walk you through formatting the free space to make it into a usable drive. After which I will show you how to delete the drive, delete the partition, and recombine the free space with one of the remaining drives (also called expanding a drive). The Video Tutorial is at the bottom of this article! Making Free Space & Creating a New Partition We need to get into the disk manager. To do that open the file explorer, right click on "This PC", and choose "Manage". windows-10-manage-this-pc In the computer management window go to "Storage" and click "Disk Management". windows-10-disk-management-control-panel From there choose which drive you would like to free up space on for the new drive. Here I will choose the D: drive. Click the drive to select it then right click and choose "Shrink Volume..." windows-10-shrink-volume-for-partition From this screen we can enter the number of megabytes we want out new volume (drive) to be. I am going to take 50,000 MB which is 50 GB. After you have entered your desired amount click "Shrink". shrink-disk-space-for-paritioning-windows-10 You will now see a black bar over a new section. This represents the unallocated disk space. Right click on it and choose "New Simple Volume..." create-new-simple-volume-drive-windows A wizard will open. There will be a few pages of options. I suggest just clicking next all the way through unless you are an advanced user. Upon hitting "finish" the new partition will be created and formatted. It will automatically open so you can see it in all its glory! Deleting a Volume, Partition and Extending a Volume! If you want to add all of a drive's memory to an existing drive we need to delete the Volume. Right click on the drive and select "Delete Volume..." delete-volume-drive-make-free-space-windows-10 That will make the volume unusable and turn its title bar a bright green, but the actual partition will remain intact. We need to right click the "Free Space" and select "Delete Partition..." delete-partition-windows-10-expand-drive That will turn the partition back into unallocated space. Now another drive can be extended into that free space. To do that right click on the drive you want to add the space to and select "Extend Volume..." extend-volume-combine-drive-space-windows-10 Again a wizard will open and guide you through the process. I suggest clicking next and finish, unless you only want to add a portion of the unallocated space. How to Secure Erase A SSD

09:58
How to Secure Erase A SSD In this video I will show you how to securely wipe your solid state drive, these work in a different way to mechanical hard drives, so we will be using parted magic to format and erase any data on that SSD. You should only do this if you have to and you should not use programs like DBAN or file shredder software to overwrite data on your SSD. Instead we will be using secure erase witch uses trim command to overwrite data on the SSD. Some SSD manufacturers have software that will wipe the data from a drive. But in this example, we will be using Parted Magic. Step 1: Create the Parted Magic bootable media. Step 2: Boot to Parted Magic, You will need to change your boot order to USB drive. Select Erase Disk on the Desktop. Step 3: Select "Internal: Secure Erase Tab” Then select ATA Secure Erase". Step 4: Select the SSD you want to erase, Select Secure and then click the Continue button. Step 5: If SSD drive is "frozen," click the Sleep button to put your PC to sleep. Step 6: Click I Allow this utility to erase the listed drive and click Start Erase. Step 7: Once the secure erase is completed, click Close and Restart Computer. That's it You just securely erase the data on your SSD Solid State Drive. Important: If you are selling the computer or disposing of the computer, I would recommend you remove the drive to be 100% sure, you can destroy it or keep it. If you have a Samsung SSD, it does come with Samsung Magician Secure Erase software. Need help with computer problems? join my forum. http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum

Data Recovery on a Formatted Drive with TestDisk by Britec

06:14
Data Recovery on a Formatted Drive with TestDisk TestDisk & PhotoRec Download: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download TestDisk is a powerful free data recovery software! It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally deleting a Partition Table). Partition table recovery using TestDisk is really easy. TestDisk can * Fix partition table, recover deleted partition * Recover FAT32 boot sector from its backup * Rebuild FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 boot sector * Fix FAT tables * Rebuild NTFS boot sector * Recover NTFS boot sector from its backup * Fix MFT using MFT mirror * Locate ext2/ext3 Backup SuperBlock * Undelete files from FAT, NTFS and ext2 filesystem * Copy files from deleted FAT, NTFS and ext2/ext3 partitions. TestDisk has features for both novices and experts. For those who know little or nothing about data recovery techniques, TestDisk can be used to collect detailed information about a non-booting drive which can then be sent to a tech for further analysis. Those more familiar with such procedures should find TestDisk a handy tool in performing onsite recovery. Operating systems TestDisk can run under * DOS (either real or in a Windows 9x DOS-box), * Windows (NT4, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 2008, Windows 7), * Linux, * FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, * SunOS and * MacOS X Source files and precompiled binary executables are available for DOS, Win32, MacOSX and Linux from the download page Filesystems TestDisk can find lost partitions for all of these file systems: * BeFS ( BeOS ) * BSD disklabel ( FreeBSD/OpenBSD/NetBSD ) * CramFS, Compressed File System * DOS/Windows FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 * Windows exFAT * HFS, HFS+ and HFSX, Hierarchical File System * JFS, IBM's Journaled File System * Linux ext2 and ext3 * Linux LUKS encrypted partition * Linux RAID md 0.9/1.0/1.1/1.2 o RAID 1: mirroring o RAID 4: striped array with parity device o RAID 5: striped array with distributed parity information o RAID 6: striped array with distributed dual redundancy information * Linux Swap (versions 1 and 2) * LVM and LVM2, Linux Logical Volume Manager * Mac partition map * Novell Storage Services NSS * NTFS ( Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/7 ) * ReiserFS 3.5, 3.6 and 4 * Sun Solaris i386 disklabel * Unix File System UFS and UFS2 (Sun/BSD/...) * XFS, SGI's Journaled File System ------------------------------- why not join our tech forum http://www.briteccomputers.co.uk/forum

Ubuntu 9.10 w/h KDE/Compiz in OSX with Parallels Desktop 5

04:28
As the title describes ubuntu running perfect in Parallels Desk 5. I installed the KDE desktop in gnome (because I like the kde look better, more font options, better panel, etc.) But the main reason I install Ubuntu, because it works best in PD5 with Compiz. I couldn't get compiz or any effects in KDE or kubuntu install. I have a macbook 6,1 white unibody. Well...you know the specs... but I did upgrade the RAM to 4GB, and a 7200RPM 500GB HDD. That's it! Over all I'm very impress how well a simple [email protected] 2.26Ghz with the standard 4gb can do! After running Ubuntu perfectly on Virtual Machine (actually, it runs better than on the separate partition it had!!! That's just crazy right?! Ubuntu ran better in the software than with the hardware!!!) So, yes I deleted that partition gave it ALL to OSX, and now I have the best of all the OS in one OS!!! Literally have Ubuntu desktop running inside of OSX! PS. Oh yeah! and now I don't have to fight with getting the magic mouse to work under Ubuntu OS... now is natively running from OSX but controlling Ubuntu! Yeah!!!!

Clonezilla - Backup and Restore FullDisk or Partition - Linux CLI

16:47
https://github.com/gotbletu/shownotes/blob/master/clonezilla_cloning_restore_functions.md clonezilla shell functions for backup and restore http://clonezilla.org/ What is Clonezilla? Clonezilla is a partition and disk imaging/cloning program similar to True Image or Norton Ghost. It helps you to do system deployment, bare metal backup and recovery. Two types of Clonezilla are available, Clonezilla live and Clonezilla SE (server edition). Clonezilla live is suitable for single machine backup and restore. While Clonezilla SE is for massive deployment, it can clone many (40 plus!) computers simultaneously. Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the hard disk. This increases the clone efficiency. With some high-end hardware in a 42-node cluster, a multicast restoring at rate 8 GB/min was reported. Features: Many File systems are supported: (1) ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, reiser4, xfs, jfs, btrfs, f2fs and nilfs2 of GNU/Linux, (2) FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS of MS Windows, (3) HFS+ of Mac OS, (4) UFS of FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD, (5) minix of Minix, and (6) VMFS3 and VMFS5 of VMWare ESX. Therefore you can clone GNU/Linux, MS windows, Intel-based Mac OS, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Minix, VMWare ESX and Chrome OS/Chromium OS, no matter it's 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86-64) OS. For these file systems, only used blocks in partition are saved and restored. For unsupported file system, sector-to-sector copy is done by dd in Clonezilla. LVM2 (LVM version 1 is not) under GNU/Linux is supported. Boot loader, including grub (version 1 and version 2) and syslinux, could be reinstalled. Both MBR and GPT partition formats of hard drive are supported. Clonezilla live also can be booted on a BIOS or uEFI machine. Unattended mode is supported. Almost all steps can be done via commands and options. You can also use a lot of boot parameters to customize your own imaging and cloning. One image restoring to multiple local devices is supported. Image could be encrypted. This is done with ecryptfs, a POSIX-compliant enterprise cryptographic stacked filesystem. Multicast is supported in Clonezilla SE, which is suitable for massive clone. You can also remotely use it to save or restore a bunch of computers if PXE and Wake-on-LAN are supported in your clients. The image file can be on local disk, ssh server, samba server, NFS server or WebDAV server. AES-256 encryption could be used to secures data access, storage and transfer. Based on Partclone (default), Partimage (optional), ntfsclone (optional), or dd to image or clone a partition. However, Clonezilla, containing some other programs, can save and restore not only partitions, but also a whole disk. By using another free software drbl-winroll, which is also developed by us, the hostname, group, and SID of cloned MS windows machine can be automatically changed.
