16 Secrets Behind Famous Logos and Brand Names

10:16
The names and logos of famous brands have a secret meaning you've never heard of. Each company logo has a story behind it. Many brand names seem meaningless to us but have an interesting explanation in the language of the country they come from. “Lego” means “play well” in Danish, “Fanta” comes from German “Fantasie”, Chupa Chups was named so after the Spanish verb “chupar”, which means “to suck”, “Samsung” is Korean for “3 stars”. “Pandora” has to do with a myth of the creation of the first human woman named Pandora. As for the logos, some of them were inspired by real sights, such as the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany for Disney. Others have historical meaning, such as the red cross from the city of Milan’s emblem, and the bloodthirsty crowned viper of the House of Visconti in Alfa Romeo’s logo. The Chupa Chups symbol as we know it was designed by super famous artist Salvador Dali himself. TIMESTAMPS Disney 0:30 Lego 1:06 Pepsi 1:33 Fanta 2:13 Chupa Chups 2:40 Nintendo 3:26 Pandora 4:01 Häagen-Dazs 4:45 Cadillac 5:25 Durex 5:55 Levi’s 6:22 eBay 6:57 Samsung 7:26 Sega 8:04 Audi 8:40 Alfa Romeo 9:20 SUMMARY -The current Disney logo was inspired by the Cinderella Castle and created in 2006. -“Lego” comes from the Danish phrase “leg godt”, which means “play well”. -Look at Pepsi’s logo from a different angle and you will get a creepy message. -Try to say “fantasy” in German to understand where the word “Fanta” comes from. -You will be surprised to know Salvador Dali designed the Chupa Chups logo. -The 3 Japanese characters “Nin-ten-do” mean “leave luck to heaven”. -“Pandora” logo with a crown promises you excellent royal quality. -If you were wondering what “Häagen-Dazs” means, you’ll be sad to find out it stands for nothing. -Cadillac was named after French explorer Sieur de Cadillac, founder of Detroit. -“Durex” stands for “durability, reliability, and excellence”. -Pay close attention to “Levi’s” logo to see what body part it’s covering. -“eBay” is the short for Echo Bay, not “Electronic Bay” as many people think. -“Sam” in Korean means “3,” and “Sung” stands for “star”. - You will be surprised to find out that SEGA stands for “Service Games of Japan.” -“Horch” means “listen” in German, and “Audi” is the same thing in Latin. -The Alfa Romeo logo has the city of Milan’s emblem and the symbol of the House of Visconti in it. My Mom Forced Me To Make A Pregnancy Test. I Didn't Want Her To Know!

★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j Hi, guys. My name's Lisa, I'm 16 and I'm going to tell you something I'm very ashamed of. Recently I had to prove to my mom that I wasn't pregnant, and because of that, a secret of mine was revealed. I have to say, I'm not used to talking about delicate matters like this. My parents are very conservative people. My whole life, I wasn't allowed to dress the way I wanted to, I wasn't allowed to hang out with friends as much as I wanted to, and of course, I was not allowed to date anyone. Yeah, sure. So behind my parents’ backs, I started dating Jamie. I hid it as best I could, but one day they found out. Oh, and then I had a hard time. I was grounded for a month, and every day I fought with my parents. I demanded to be allowed to date Jamie. It was difficult, but I managed to convince my parents. We found a compromise. I was allowed to see him, but I had to promise not to do anything stupid. So Jamie and I «haven't done anything stupid» for one year. We are really close. We even wanted to introduce our parents to each other… But that's another sad story, because my mom and dad couldn`t stand Jamie`s parents. One summer, my parents were going on vacation and they were going to take me with them. It seems good, but this was a trip to Thailand for three weeks! I couldn't imagine spending almost a month without Jamie, so we came up with a brilliant plan. He convinced his mom and dad to spend their vacation in the same city and in the same hotel where we were! Imagine my parents surprise when they saw Jamie and his family at the hotel, huh! But we were so happy to see each other! Of course my mom and dad wanted to have their eyes on me at all times, but they also wanted to relax. So I was often released under Jamie`s parents’ supervision so they could rest alone. It totally worked out! For us it was a dream vacation. We enjoyed every day, and we had something to remember later. But it was not just good memories that I brought back from Thailand. My stomach started hurting and I was sick. At first I thought it was nothing special, just a change of climate, or something like that. I took the usual medication, but it didn't help at all. And then it started... My mom came to me and said that we needed to talk about something… sensitive, and that I needed to be as honest as possible. Just from these words I already felt uncomfortable and awkward. My mother said that my symptoms were very similar to morning sickness in a woman who is in the early stages of pregnancy. This phrase just shocked me. I started to deny everything, but nothing seemed to change my mother's mind, so she handed me a pregnancy test. It wasn't just awkward and weird, it was humiliating. Imagine doing this when your mom is standing on the other side of the door! But I had no choice. I did the test, and it was negative. Of course it was negative! Because I knew I couldn`t be pregnant! But the symptoms didn`t go away, and the next day my parents took me to the hospital. The doctor started with the usual questions about my symptoms, my stomach, and then – about my periods. I was so embarrassed by that question. It was humiliating! He asked me these questions in front of my parents! I began to count in my mind, and the result shocked me. My period was supposed to start about seven days ago, so it was late. The doctor said it's really too early for morning sickness. I exhaled. But then he said we'd still do another test to make sure. At that moment I just ran out of patience, and I shouted: «I can't be pregnant! I know that because I'm on birth control pills!». Yes, I said it. That was my secret, and now my parents were responsible for making me reveal it. As it turns out, I did have a sickness, it was just a little more serious. And I had a delay in my cycle because of the climate change. We got in the car and, in my parents faces, I realized that we were going to have a very serious conversation. But I was surprised that we didn't go home. 15 minutes later, we arrived at Jamie's house. I was told to sit in the car, and my mom and dad went up to the house. I saw Jamie's parents open the door. They argued for a long time. Mom shouted something, pointing in my direction, and Jamie's parents were just shrugging. At that moment I just wanted to cry. On the way home, mom took my phone, and said I wouldn't be talking to my boyfriend anymore, and that now I'm under their strict control. All I could do was cry and yell at my parents. But that didn't help. Every time I heard my phone ring in my mom's purse, my heart would break. I wanted to talk to Jamie, hear him, see him, and hug him tightly. Improve your Vocabulary: Stop saying VERY!

20:06
Using the same word again and again is boring, which is why native English speakers use a wide variety of vocabulary to express their thoughts and feelings. In this vocabulary lesson, I will teach you how to express yourself more effectively by replacing the word "very" with more precise and interesting adjectives. For example, you can replace "very cold" with "freezing". This illustrates your point more precisely. You will sound more natural and intelligent. Using these adjectives on the speaking section of IELTS and TOEFL exams will impress your examiner and improve your score. Watch the video to discover many more examples of this kind of vocabulary substitution. Variety is the spice of life! Next, watch my lesson on how to learn vocabulary FAST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_aA-Hc74Ag TRANSCRIPT "Getting from here to there, it's been a long while." Oh, hi. My time is finally here. James from engVid. I can't believe this, this is like the Mirror Universe. If you watch Star Trek, you'll understand; if not, go watch Mirror Universe with Star Trek. I have two, look at them, I have two Mr. Es. In the first one Mr. E is hot, and the first one Mr. E is cold. Let's go to the board. E, what's up? "It's very hot. 35 degrees centigrade." You're right. I see you're wearing your Bermuda shorts. And the second E is saying he's very cold: "It's minus 30 degrees centigrade." Ow, this isn't good. I feel for you. But don't you think there are better ways to say it's very hot or it's very cold? I think so, and in today's lesson I'm going to teach some of you... Not some of you. I'm going to teach all of you how to get rid of the word "very" to describe everything, and use other words which give more information, which will make you sound more like a native speaker and make your writing phenomenal. Oh, "phenomenal"? That's a word for "very good". Are you ready? Let's go to the board. So, today's lesson is on "very". "Very" is a very good word, that's why we use it, but when you're writing, to hear somebody say: "Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very" is what we call monotonous, it means "mono" as one, "tonous", one tone, one sound - very boring. So let's change that from you being... You know, using "very" because I teach and I notice a lot of students saying things, like: "Teacher, today it's very cold outside." I'm like: -"Yeah, it is." -"And I'm very tired and very hungry." I'm like: "Okay, okay." It's like being punched in the face again and again, and I just want to say: "Stop with the 'very'. Use a different word." But it's not fair because "very" is a very good word-there, I did it again-we just need to find other words to make your language sound richer to improve it so you sound more like a native English speaker, and to make it more interesting for you because it will express more of who you are and your ideas in a better way. It makes you unique. You ready? Let's go to the board. You'll notice I put "very" in red because this is something we don't want to do, we don't want to keep saying: "very". We want to change that up. And I'm going to give you a list of words that people or students usually say when they say "very" that I've heard many, many times. And maybe you've done this. And today I'm going to give you singular words to use instead. I'll explain them, just in case they're difficult. Let's start with the first one. People say: "Very rude", instead of saying that, you can say: "vulgar". "Vulgar" means very rude, and if somebody says to me: "Your language is vulgar", I'll probably stop talking because it means it's not right, it's inappropriate, it's very bad. Vulgar. "I don't like your vulgar tone", your rude tone. It's strong. "Very short", another word we say is "brief", which means small. We had a very brief... We had a very brief conversation, a very short conversation. Cool? "Boring". When you say: "Class was very boring today", you can say: "dull". "Dull" means very boring. It also means... See? Here's a bonus when you use these words, stupid. If you say someone is dull, you can say they're very boring, or dull meaning they're stupid. Don't use it like that too often; people don't like being called stupid. And if you say: "He's rather dull, isn't he?" I have to listen for context to mean stupid or boring. Next one, everybody's favourite: "Very good". "Teacher, the food is very good. The lesson is very good. I like this, it's very good." Why don't we change that to the word "superb"? Look carefully at the word "superb", you have the word "super" written inside it. "Super" means what? Above average, excellent, or superb, very good. "The food was superb." People don't usually use this word, so if you tell me when I cook for you that it's superb, I'm telling you right now I will take that as such an amazing compliment. Gentlemen, if you tell a woman she looks superb, she'll be like: "Thank you. Really?" Because no one says it. All right? […]

Best his secret obsession phrases leaked 2019 His Secret Obsession Review: https://cbankreview.com/go/his-secret-obsession What do men actually want in sex? Great question, the answer to which every woman wants to know. With great pleasure, I want to introduce you to the book ‘His Secret Obsession.‘ In it, you will find the exact answer to this question. During practice, I often had to work with men. Sometimes I hear such revelations, that I wanted to start writing romance immediately to start writing romance. You know, what struck me the most? In most cases, men rarely say to a woman what they’d really like in sex. This occurs for several reasons. Firstly, men are afraid to frighten or offend their girlfriend with their own frankness. They think: His Secret Obsession Ebook || Free Download James Bauer's His Secret Obsession eBook PDF Free “What if I ask her about it, and she will think that I am not happy with our sex life?”. Secondly, men worry that they simply won’t be understood or will be made fun of their desires. Here we have to blame a woman. Once a man can sharply express his expectations and emotions, and the next time, you can hear in a few years, or not at all. Thirdly, the issue of male sexual preferences can be equated to the question of trust and emotional closeness to the partner. The higher is the trust between you and mutual understanding, the higher the likelihood that sooner or later, you will open all of your deepest desires and dreams. I was fortunate, in the field of counseling, I often hear such revelations. Men, who come to the consultation and training, often ask me how to ask their girlfriend to do this or that in bed? 10 Common Slang Words Americans Use All the Time

10:20
ABOUT THE LESSON 📚 Let's face it...SLANG is just fun to learn. You may not use slang in the classroom, but you'll definitely use it in the streets. Because slang is a part of everyday English and you may hear it all the time. In this lesson, we'll look at some common slang that Americans use. You may have already heard these words before watching TV or movies, or perhaps listening to music. Even if you don't use slang yourself, it's important for your overall comprehension because other people certainly speak this informal English. #AmericanSlang #InteractiveEnglish -------------------------- SECRET FLUENCY LESSON 👉 http://bit.ly/Secret_Lesson BECOME A PATRON 👉 http://bit.ly/Patreon_InteractiveEnglish -------------------------- LINKS TO PRACTICE & IMPROVE YOUR ENGLISH ✅ Improve Your Listening w/ Audiobooks. 10 GET Phrasal Verbs: get down, get off, get through, get up, get away...

08:50
Get through this lesson without getting down. Phrasal verbs with GET are very common and popular in everyday speech. In this lesson we will look at the meanings of words like get up, get over, get through, and more. https://www.engvid.com/10-get-phrasal-verbs/ Hi again. Welcome to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam. Today's lesson is about phrasal verbs using the verb: "get". Now, before I dive into this lesson, I just want to explain a few things. I've gotten many comments on www.engvid.com and many people tell me that phrasal verbs are very difficult. And I understand that, I appreciate that, but I want you to start thinking of phrasal verbs as vocabulary; it's just extra words you have to study. It's not fun, I understand that, but it's not that difficult either. You just have to remember and use, and practice, practice, practice like any other vocabulary you're learning. So today's verb is: "get". Let's look at some of these prepositions we have. "Get up", "Get down", "Get away", "Get over", "Get off", "Get on", "Get in", "Get through", "Get between", "Get along" or "Get along with". So we're going to go one by one. I'll explain basically what they mean. Sometimes they have more than one; sometimes two, sometimes three different meanings. And if necessary, I'll give examples. Oh, sorry about that. Okay, let's start with: "Get up". "Get up", two general meanings you're going to need to know. One is get up, if you're sitting down, if you're lying down and someone says: "Get up", it means: stand up, stand. Get off the floor, get off the chair, whatever. "Get up" also means to get dressed in a certain way. If you're going to a club, you want to get up all fancy and put on a nice dress or a nice suit for the guys. If it's Halloween, you're going to get up in a nice costume. We can also use "getup" as a noun. "Getup" means what you're wearing. "Nice getup" means: "I like your clothes.", "Nice suit.", "Nice costume.", "Nice" whatever it is you're wearing. "Get down", opposite of "Get up". If you're standing, get down or sit down, for example, so get down. If... If a baseball is flying your way: "Get down!" Duck, get underneath it. "Get down" in a slang way means like get down, like enjoy the music, enjoy the party. You know, like get down, dance, do whatever gets you down. We'll get to "Get off" in a second. You'll understand. "Get away". "Get away" means leave. But in a more colloquial way - "colloquial" means like everyday street English, not necessarily slang but common English - "Get away" means go on vacation. And when you go on vacation, you choose a nice getaway. A getaway is a vacation, like a planned vacation or a nice vacation destination, the place you're going to. So Hawaii is a great getaway in winter in Canada because it's cold; Hawaii: beautiful. "Get over". One, there's a... One meaning: get over something physical like there's a wall and you need to get to the other side, so you get over the wall. Okay? But that wall could also be a problem or an obstacle; it doesn't have to be a physical thing. Right? So you have a problem, get over it, move on, as they say. So you and your girlfriend had a fight, okay, get over it, move on. Continue on like nothing happened. Make up, kiss, whatever you do. Next day everything's good; get over it. Okay? That's the most common meanings of: "Get over".

What Your Blood Type Says About Your Personality

10:40
Do you know your blood type? 🅾️🅰️🅱️🆎 It can help you improve your health and even save your life in extreme situations. Also, it can say a lot about you personally! Japanese researchers have been studying blood types for decades and have found a surprising connection between a person’s character traits and blood group. We’re all well-aware that blood has different “types,” but what exactly does that mean? In a nutshell, blood type is based on two things: antibodies and antigens. An antibody is a protein produced by your blood’s plasma that helps your immune system fight different things that make you sick, like bacteria and viruses. Antigens, which are classified as A or B, can be different proteins, carbohydrates, and all sorts of complex biological compounds. #bloodtype #bloodgroup #personality TIMESTAMPS: O-type blood 1:34 A-type blood 2:31 B-type blood 3:49 AB-blood type 5:10 Compatibility horoscope 6:45 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Japanese experts call people with O-type blood sociable, open-minded, and intuitive. They’re real “people” people and can quickly become the heart of pretty much any conversation. - Japanese professor Tokeji Furukawa, who published a paper on blood types and personality back in 1927, associated A-type blood with creative and responsible people. Intelligent and persistent, these individuals know what they want and go for it! - Japanese researchers find people with B-type blood especially fascinating. You're unbelievably creative, fun, and passionate. You have a true power and strength within you, and your energy knows no bounds. - People with AB blood are believed to be rational and a bit controlling. It's not like they’re gonna start barking orders at you or anything; they just don't like to depend on others. They're the makers of their own fate and their strong-willed personality certainly helps them along the way. - What’s really interesting about the Japanese blood type personality research is that they have a certain word for every group. I'm Rebecca from engVid. Today I'm especially excited to welcome you to a new series that I've created called: "How to Speak like a Manager". In this series you will learn how to take general English and upgrade it to business English. Okay? And we'll be doing that by looking at different verbs that you can use, adjectives, nouns, and so on. Okay? But today in this lesson we will be focusing on eight verbs. But you might be asking: "Only eight verbs and I can become a manager?" Well, yes. "Why?" Because I'm going to show you how these eight verbs, to start with, can actually be used in hundreds of ways, in different collocations or combinations of words, so therefore you'll be able to use them in all kinds of situations. Definitely in professional situations, but also in social situations or personal situations. Okay? So, let's start right now. Okay. So let's suppose what you want to say in general English or regular English is something like this: "I need to find out what's wrong." Okay? Now, on this side is all the regular English or the general English. Okay? And on this side we're going to express the same idea, but in higher English, in more advanced business English or more professional English. And you're going to help me because I didn't write the word in yet. You're going to help me because perhaps you already know some of these words, but even if you know them you might not realize how many different ways we can actually use those same words, and that's what I want you to be able to do. Okay? So suppose your idea in your mind is that: "I need to find out what's wrong." So how can we say that in more professional English? "I need to", the verb starts with "i": "I need to _______ the problem. I need to identify the problem." Okay? So, our first word today is "identify". Say it after me: "identify the problem". Good. Now, suppose the idea you're trying to convey is: "I need to fix the problem." Okay? "Fix" is a very ordinary word, so what better word could we use here? "I need to _______ the issue or the issues. I need to", you might know this word. "I need to resolve", okay? So, "resolve" is just like "solve", but usually we say: "Solve the problem", but we might say: "Resolve the issue". And "resolve" is an even higher, more advanced word. And the higher vocabulary that you use, the more professional you will sound. Okay? And that's what our goal is. Right? Okay, next: "I need to give people confidence." So what's a good word or verb for that? "To give somebody confidence" is to, something starts with "m": "I need to _______ my employees. I need to..." Do you know this word? I'm sure you've heard it. "Motivate". Okay? Say it after me: "Motivate" or "motivate". You can say the "t"; sometimes it's easier and clearer for people to understand you when you say the "t". So let's say the "t" now: "Motivate. I need to motivate my employees" or: "I need to motivate my employees." Okay? Instead of saying: "I need to give people confidence", because you see that all the verbs here are very ordinary, everyday verbs, and those are higher-level verbs. Next: "I need to give clients my attention." Again, we have a very weak verb here, so how can you say that: "I need to give my attention to my clients or give clients my attention"? The word... The verb starts with "f": "I need to _______ on our clients." What's the verb? Do you know it? "I need to focus", okay? Say it after me: "Focus". Be careful how you pronounce this word because otherwise it can sound improper. All right? "I need to focus on our clients." Sounds a lot better than saying: "I need to give my attention to my clients." Okay? "I need to focus". Next: "I need to spend as little as possible". "Spend as little" means spend as little money. So what's one word that captures that idea, to spend as little as possible? It starts with "m": "I need to _______ our expenses or our costs." Do you know what it is? Okay? So the word is "minimize". You Can't Blame A Guy For Trying - English Phrase - Learn English

01:13
#learnEnglish #EasyEnglish #EnglishExpressions Today, we learn English with the saying "You can't blame a guy for trying." This is a common phrase we use when we made an attempt at something and failed and are trying to save face. It's like saying, "You can't be mad at me because at least I made an attempt." Some common situations where you will hear this phrase is between people in a relationship, or at work. Another way I might say this is "You can't fault me for failing at something that I tried to do with the best intentions." Of course, this is a more wordy and less common way to say the same thing. Can you think of any other examples where you would use this saying? Is there a phrase like this in your language? Here are some examples from Twitter: https://twitter.com/search?f=tweets&vertical=default&q=%22you%20can%27t%20blame%20a%20guy%20for%20trying%22&src=typd Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/englishsuelto
Do You Often Wake Up Between 3 AM and 5 AM? Here Is What It Means

10:31
Do you often wake up between 3 am - 5 am? If you wake up at the same time every night, it could be because your body is trying to send you a message. Yes, there is anecdotal evidence stating that waking up at certain times during the night is actually a symptom of something spiritual. But, according to the ancient Chinese Medicine Body Clock, energy runs through a different meridian of your body at different times of day. These meridians are like channels which send energy to different organs in order to promote health and vitality. When there is a blockage in these channels however, energy cannot pass through, causing stagnation or a buildup of energy. This can then disturb your sleep and wake you up. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) if you wake up at the same time every night, it could indicate a sign of weakness in the corresponding meridian or organ. The body, mind and emotions are inseparable in TCM - meaning that if you have disharmony in your physical body, it is tied to your emotional state. For example, if you often wake up between 3 am - 5 am, it’s a sign that energies in that very corresponding part of your body are blocked and weak due to your neglect. In this video, we outline the organs and emotions associated with different times during the night. You will gain some insight into why you might be waking up at a certain hour and what you should do about it! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Music: Epidemic Sound Visuals: VideoBlocks / Adobe Stock / Pexels / Pixabay / Other Voice-over Recording, Audio & Video Production by Brainy Dose ------------------------------------------------------------------

SURPRISING Confessions Made By Disney Employees!

10:03
Check out these surprising confessions made by disney employees! These disneyland and disney world workers shared their top 10 secrets of what's really going on in these theme parks from mickey mouse! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "Most DISTURBING Secrets About Disney!" video here: https://youtu.be/hQ0FIFYz7P0 Watch our "Most EXPENSIVE Dogs In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/QjoFQKtTYuA Watch our "Pets That RETURNED Home After Being LOST!" video here: https://youtu.be/JZMkZc-lYGE 10. “Have a Magical Day” Employees at the Disney Parks have to meet and greet countless people every day, but while they have to stay on their best behavior when interacting with guests, not every visitor returns the courtesy. Quite often kids will kick the characters, probably more than you think! Or adults will be incredibly rude. Of course there’s no way for the staff to put you in your place if they want to keep their job, because it is the most magical place on Earth remember, except by using what seems like a friendly phrase that you all know! “Have a Magical Day!” is, in fact, their way of telling you where to go. Yes, that’s right, if a Disney Princess, Pirate or even Mickey Mouse says “Have a Magical Day”- they are, in fact, telling you to “Go F Yourself”. Well, that’s according to some staff who used to work at the resorts at least. They are told to make every guest feel as special as possible, and this phrase is usually the one they resort to when they’re dealing with a particular difficult guest and so they say it in a sarcastic way. It’s all about the tone of voice! Don’t panic if it’s said to you and you’ve been polite though, it could just be that they’ve been having a bad day. 9. The Music Keeps Playing That’s right! The music keeps on playing, even when there aren’t any guests. Anyone who’s visited a Disney resort will know how catchy the music can be- sometimes it takes days for you to clear your head of it all, you know the one! Especially from rides like “It’s a Small World”! Well, take a moment to think about the poor ride operators who sit there listening to the music on continuous loop all day long- and it’s not just while the rides are in operation. The CIA uses music on a repeated loop to torture and break prisoners, and they have said it is very effective! To learn more be sure to check out my Facts About the CIA video!! One of the songs they use? It’s a small world. According to some former employees, the music continues well past the time the last guest has ridden, as they need to continually check and test the experience to ensure it’s living up to the entertainment and safety standards that you’d expect. Even the janitors sweep the place with the full music playing- something that would be taxing even for the most committed of Disney fans! 8. Fired for Taking a Selfie One of the rules of working at Disney is that you must stay in character at all times. This means answering every question in the way that your character would, knowing everything about the movies that they were in, and never shattering the illusion. If you play Mulan and some tourists come up to you and try to speak Chinese- you’d better have a good reason why you aren’t able to speak it back to them. It’s also not a great job for celebrity spotting, because if you see one you can’t go up and talk to them unless they approach you, and you absolutely mustn’t ruin any of the behind the scenes magic. This means taking photos of yourself while getting ready, or backstage in the resort, is completely banned- there have been numerous accounts of staff members who have done this and lost their jobs soon after. If you want a picture of yourself dressed up as Cinderella, you’d be much safer getting a friend to visit the park and getting a snap for you. And it better be in character and not in between! You have to keep the magic real!! 7. Security is EVERYWHERE Just as you’d find with any amusement park, there are prominently placed security staff all around Disney, but what you might not realize is that those visible guards are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to park security. Which is a good thing in this day in age. Talk about shattering the illusion. There must never be any bad event at Disney ever!! Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

"MAYDAY vs PAN PAN" Why do pilots use these CALLS? Explained by CAPTAIN JOE

We´ll be looking at why and when pilots use these calls. First off the definition of MAYDAY: Mayday is an emergency procedure word used internationally as a distress signal in voice-procedure radio communications. It is used to signal a life-threatening emergency primarily by aviators and mariners, but in some countries local organizations such as firefighters, police forces, and transportation organizations also use the term. The call is always given three times in a row ("Mayday mayday mayday") to prevent its being mistaken for some similar-sounding phrase under noisy conditions, and to distinguish an actual mayday call from a message about a mayday call. The "mayday" procedure word was originated in 1923, by a senior radio officer at Croydon Airport in London. The officer, Frederick Stanley Mockford, was asked to think of a word that would indicate distress and would easily be understood by all pilots and ground staff in an emergency. Since much of the traffic at the time was between Croydon and Le Bourget Airport in Paris, he proposed the expression "mayday" from the French m'aider ('help me'), a shortened form of venez m'aider ('come and help me').It is unrelated to the holiday May Day. Before the voice call "mayday", SOS was the Morse code equivalent of the mayday call. In 1927, the International Radiotelegraph Convention of Washington adopted the voice call mayday as the radiotelephone distress call in place of the SOS radiotelegraph (Morse code) call. PAN PAN call definition: The radiotelephony message PAN-PAN is the international standard urgency signal that someone aboard a boat, ship, aircraft, or other vehicle uses to declare that they have a situation that is urgent, but for the time being, does not pose an immediate danger to anyone's life or to the vessel itself. This is referred to as a state of urgency. This is distinct from a mayday call (distress signal), which means that there is an imminent danger to life or to the continued viability of the vessel itself Radioing pan-pan informs potential rescuers (including emergency services and other craft in the area) that an urgent problem exists, whereas mayday calls on them to drop all other activities and immediately begin a rescue. The exact representation of PAN-PAN in Morse code is the urgency signal XXX, which was first defined by the International Radiotelegraph Convention of 1927. But see more in the video on how they are being used accordingly! Thank you very much for your time! I hope you enjoy this video! Wishing you all the best! Meaning of JUST IN TIME - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles

00:58
READ ALONG TO PRACTICE YOUR ENGLISH AND TO LEARN THE MEANING OF JUST IN TIME: So in English when we say something happens just in time it means that it happens about one second before it would have been a bit too late. A good example of this would be the other day I was walking and I was still a little ways from my house and the clouds were starting to get kind of dark, and it looked like it might rain. So I started to walk a little bit faster and when I got to the door of my house the rain started to come down. So you could say that I got to my house just in time. So I got to my house just before the rain started to come down. You can use this phrase as well, maybe you had to go to a meeting and maybe the meeting started at 3:00 and you were in a bit of a rush and you were running a little bit late, but you got to the meeting at 2:59, with one second to spare. You got to the meeting just in time. #englishlesson #englishlearning #englishteacher --- ⌛ Be sure to watch the video TWICE today and ONCE tomorrow to reinforce the English that you have learned! --- ✅ SUBSCRIBE RIGHT HERE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmW5tmKIBrryNf5n-_A6Fmw?sub_confirmation=1 --- ✅ Looking for longer English lessons? 3 tips for sounding like a native speaker

08:15
"That'll be 66 cents please." "Sikysi... what?" Having a hard time understanding native speed English? This lesson will give you some tips on how to sound like a native speaker as well as how to understand what you hear by breaking down expressions into their individual word and sounds. https://www.engvid.com/3-tips-for-sounding-like-a-native-speaker/ TRANSCRIPT Hi again, welcome back to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam. Today, I'm going to help you sound a little bit more like a native speaker, hopefully. Students ask me all the time: "How can I sound like a native speaker?" Well, before I say anything, let me just tell you that it will take time and a lot, a lot, a lot of practice. The best way is to live in an English-speaking country, of course, but of course you can do it anywhere, but it takes time; be patient, practice, practice, practice. So we're looking at pronunciation. Let me start with this word: "pronunciation". Not: "pronounciation". It is not a pronoun. A pronoun is: "I", "me", "my", "mine". Pronunciation is how we speak English. So I'm going to give you three tips that will help you sound a little bit more like a native speaker. We're going to start with connecting words. Now, think about your own language, whether you're speaking Spanish or Polish or Chinese, you do this in your language as well. When you're speaking fast, you're taking words and you're squeezing them together; you're connecting them, so one word flows into the next word. That's what we're going to do here. You can connect consonants to consonants. What this means: when a word ends in a consonant... A consonant is "b", "c", "d", "f", "g", etc. A vowel is "a", "e", "i", "o", "u". When a word ends in a consonant and the next word begins with the same consonant, drop the first one. So for example: we do not say: "black coffee", we don't say: "ke, ke". There's only one "k": "bla coffee", "bla coffee." Okay? Practice that. Now, "t" and "d", these are two different consonants, but according to the tongue and the mouth, they almost sound the same so we do the same thing. "Wha do you do?", "Wha do you do?" But again, another thing you have to keep in mind is when we say it fast, we also don't really say "e", we say like a... Sort of like a small... We don't say "o" - sorry -, we say sort of a small "e". "Wha do ye do?" Practice that. "Wha do ye do?" Strange, huh? No "t", "wha", "de ye do?", "Wha de ye do?" That's how a native speaker would say it naturally. Now, another thing is when a word ends in a consonant and the next word begins in a vowel, make sure you roll it in. Right? Roll the consonant into the vowel and separate the syllable before. A syllable is the vowel sounds in a word. Okay? So nobody, like native speakers don't say: "Not at all. Oh no, not at all." We don't say it like that. We say: "Oh, not-at-all.", "Not-at-all.", "Not-at-all." Right? The "t", so this becomes: "No-ta-tall", "No-ta-tall", "Not at all". Okay? Say it quickly, blend the letters one into the next. But again, practice it. Now, for those of you who are going to be taking a test, an English test that involves listening; IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, if you're in Canada you're maybe doing a CELPIP test. Okay? This is going to help you on the listening section as well. This is one of the things they're testing. Somebody on the recording will say: "Not-at-all", and you need to cut: "Not at all", you need to understand the separate words, that's part of the test. So practice speaking it, practice listening to it. Another thing we do is we squeeze some words. Okay? Certain words, we don't say all the syllables, we don't even say all the letters. I've heard many students say: "Com-fort-able", "com-fort-able", but native speakers, we don't say this part, we don't say the "or". We say: "Comf-ta-bil", and notice the last sound is like a small tiny, tiny little "i" in there. "Comftabil", "comf-ta-bil", "comftabil". Okay? We don't pronounce the "or": "Comfortable". Nope, don't do that. Another word like that: "Interesting". "In-chre-sting". Find out what the syllables are so: "In-ter" - sorry, my mistake -, "In-ter-rest-ing". If you want to emphasize something, we have a word called: "enunciate". When someone wants to emphasize a word, then they enunciate each syllable; they say each syllable separately. "Oh, that is very in-ter-est-ing." Right? Because I want you to understand that the word is interesting, but in every day speech: "Intresting", "in-tre-sting". "In-ter-est-ing", I have four syllables, when I actually say it naturally, it becomes three syllables and the "t" and the "r" become like a "ch", but that's... We'll talk about that next. Another word: "every". "E-vry". I don't say: "Ev-er-y", I don't say this letter "e", "ev-er-y". "E-vry", "evryone", "evrything", "evry".

My Friend Nearly Killed Me When We Played Truth Or Dare

★ DO YOU WANT TO GET YOUR STORY ANIMATED? SEND IT TO [email protected] IT WILL BE GIVEN A VOICE OVER BY A PROFESSIONAL ACTOR AND AN ANIMATOR WILL MAKE A VIDEO OUT OF IT! ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j Hi, this is Michelle, and this story literally happened yesterday. There’s so much to talk about from last night that she’s not really sure where to start. In brief, she was betrayed by her best friend and she almost died, and both these things happened within fifteen minutes of each other. It all started as a truth or dare game. Michelle has a group of friends that she’s known since they were all about five years old. There are six of them, all girls, and they’re fourteen now. Actually, a couple of them have already turned fifteen. She won’t bother going through all their names, since she would have to change them anyway to tell this story, but the important thing is that out of all of them her best friend is called Lana. Though she should probably say she HAD a best friend. Anyway, Michelle and Lana live close to each other, so they’ve always seen each other more often than the others. Over the years, they’ve grown really close, so basically she knows a lot about Michelle and vice versa…or so Michelle thought. Bear in mind also that Michelle is a really, really private person, and she hates telling people personal things, although Lana was an exception. And there are a lot of things about her that even she doesn’t know either. But nevermind about all that – let’s stick to the story. Last night, they had a sleepover at Lana’s. Her parents are away on vacation, and they have no problem leaving the whole house to Lana to look after. She’s never caused them any trouble when they’ve gone away in the past, but Michelle can only imagine the looks on their faces when they come back and hear what just happened. So five of them came over to Lana's for the sleepover, because one of their friends – let’s call her Judy – got sick. It wasn’t the first time they spent the night at Lana’s, and Michelle herself went over to hang out even more often than the others, since she only lives like, two houses away. So last night, they first decided to watch a movie, then they cooked dinner together – two of their friends love cooking. After that they decided that they wanted to play something, and someone suggested “Truth or Dare,” the classic sleepover game. As a very private person, Michelle really hates this game, because she has to pick dare all the time. The idea of telling any secret, even to a group of close friends, is just terrifying for her. It was okay at the start – there was nothing but harmless questions and easy tasks. Like singing a stupid song, or calling Judy to convince her Ed Sheeran was at the house with them on a surprise visit…it sure sounds dumb now, but shemanaged to sound dead serious, and Judy almost believed her! But the girls spoiled everything when they started laughing, they just couldn’t keep it in anymore. One thing though, before she moves on to the main part of the story. Lana and Michelle have a classmate called Josh. Josh Hurley, that’s what she’ll call him here. And…thank god this is anonymous…she really, really likes him. He’s justamazing. And he lives right across the street from Lana. They talk at school every once in a while, but it never goes further than that. Michelle believes it really could go further, but he doesn’t know anything about how she feels. No one does – except for Lana. So there they were playing, and it was Michelle’s turn again, and of course she picked dare rather than truth. The girls were struggling to come up with a task for her, but after a few minutes Lana said that she had a great idea. She said that Michelle had to get on the roof of her house and shout “I LOVE YOU JOSH HURLEY!” three times, as loud as she could. Michelle still can’t believe she said it. Lana knew that she liked Josh, and she knew there was a big chance he’d hear about it sooner or later, and she knew just how embarrassed Michelle wouldbe if she told anyone else. But at that moment she simply thought: a game is a game, let’s just get it over with. She climbed onto the roof through the bedroom window, and found a spot that looked like it was safe. It was almost midnight, so it was really dark. The girls were all standing at the window ready to film the whole thing. Just to remind you, the phrase she had to say was “I love you, Josh Hurley.” She shouted it once, dying of embarrassment, then a second time. All of the lights in Josh’s house were off, so she was praying nobody was home. Because if they were, the whole family was going to be woken up by her yelling. The girls were laughing and cheering. She really wanted it to be over, so she took a deep breath and shouted it out for a third time. Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com
