Diving in Bali (720p)

54:42
Scuba diving in Bali. This DVD is available at http://www.bubblevision.com/marine-life-DVD.htm Diving in Bali is a document of an extraordinary expedition I made to Indonesia's magical island of Bali in 2006 with Aquamarine Diving, http://www.aquamarinediving.com From Tulamben's awesome USAT Liberty wreck, to the reef manta rays of Nusa Penida, via the fascinating macro marine life of Tulamben and Seraya Secrets, the footage covers the breadth of Bali's fascinating underwater world. The video features 158 species of marine life, and their common and scientific names are available by turning on the captions with the CC button under the video. Viewers can now contribute subtitles for the marine life names in this video in many languages. Find out more at https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623. From Tulamben there is footage of the wreck of the USAT Liberty in both day time and night time, including the humphead parrotfish that spend the night there. Also from Tulamben are numerous marine live encounters from dives at the Drop-Off and the Coral Garden. Just around the corner we make a dive at Seraya Secrets, a macro hotspot where I encountered seahorses and nudibranchs. From Padangbai on the east coast of Bali we have footage from The Blue Lagoon and Pura Jepun. From the island of Nusa Penida we have the manta ray cleaning station, Manta Point, and Ped. Full list of dive sites featured in this video: 1. USAT Liberty Shipwreck, Tulamben The USAT Liberty was torpedoed by the Japanese off Lombok and beached at Tulamben in Bali. In 1963 the last eruption of Mount Agung caused the wreck to slide deeper into the sea where she lies today. The USAT Liberty shipwreck makes an excellent dive site. This video features the towering stern, the coral-encrusted gun on the bow, green humphead parrotfish (Bolbometopon muricatum), a Pacific hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata bissa), garden eels, sweetlips and lots of other interesting marine life from the wreck and its surroundings. The USAT Liberty also makes a fantastic night dive. Green humphead parrotfish sleep in the protection of the wreck. Other highlights include a Spanish dancer and a bluespotted ribbontail ray. 2. Coral Garden, Tulamben The Coral Garden at Tulamben lies conveniently right off the middle of the beach. Skunk cleaner shrimps tend to moray eels and groupers at a cleaning station based around a barrel sponge. Also featuring a ribbon eel, ghost pipefish, leaf scorpionfish and trevallies schooling in the shallows. 3. Tulamben Drop-Off Video from the Drop-Off at Tulamben, Bali, featuring a spectacular giant purple knotted sea fan, nudibranchs, a ghost pipefish and a seahorse. Before and after exploring the Drop-Off we spend time in the shallows where we meet Tulamben's famous schools of trevallies. By night the drop-off at Tulamben provides plenty of treats for the visiting diver. This video includes a squat lobster, a cone shell, a dwarf cuttlefish, a hermit crab and various pretty reef fish. 4. Seraya Secrets Seraya Secrets, nearby to Tulamben, is an exellent muck dive known for weird and wonderful critters. Here we encounter some batfish around the artificial reef project in the shallows. A little deeper we find 2 thorny seahorses, catfish, an anemone crab and nudibranchs. 5. Blue Lagoon, Padangbai The Padangbai area on the east coast of Bali provides some fantastic diving. Just north of Padangbai lies the Blue Lagoon. This footage comes from my first ever dive in Indonesia with a video camera and features leaf scorpionfish, cuttelfish, anemonefish, lionfish, shrimps, catfish, nudibranchs, moorish idols and a goby. 6. Pura Jepun, Padangbai Pura Jepun also lies just north of Padangbai and is home to some fantastic marine life. This video features clownish, sweetlips, angelfish, a peacock mantis shrimp, a stingray, a panther grouper, a wart slug, ribbon eels, a scorpionfish and a flying gurnard. 7. Manta Point, Nusa Penida On the north-east side of Nusa Penida lies a cleaning station for reef manta rays (Manta alfredi) known as "Manta Point". On 23rd May 2006 we had the pleasure of diving with these graceful giants. 8. PED, Nusa Penida Ped is sloping reef on the north coast of Nusa Penida. Here we encounter a variety of tropical reef fishes including angelfish, triggerfish, anemonefish and scorpionfish, as well as a rhizostome jellyfish. Thanks to Toao (http://www.soilsound.com) for the music tracks, "Deep Blue", "Starbeam", "Afterglow", "Time & Space" and "Woodsman", and to Erik Verkoyen for "Prickly Shark". 10 MOST DANGEROUS OCEAN CREATURES IN THE WORLD

10:17
10 Most Dangerous Water Animals In The World ► Subscribe: https://goo.gl/vHN6qB For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] There are many different types of creatures that live in streams, lakes, seas and oceans. And while many of these creatures are harmless, there are many that are incredibly dangerous if you happen to have an encounter with them. These dangerous animals lurk beneath the surface of the water in a world vastly different than ours, and must be deadly to survive. Join us as we take a look at 10 of the most dangerous water creatures. 10. Australian Box Jellyfish – This creature is not one to be messed around with if you happen to swim into a swarm of them. And while they may seem harmless, the Australian box jellyfish is considered to be the most venomous marine animal in the world. They have tentacles that are covered with tiny darts called nematocysts, and they are loaded with poison. 9. Flower Urchin – Beautiful but deadly, these sea urchins are extremely venomous. They look like a bouquet of small flowers; to which they get their name from. They feed on invertebrates, sponges, and dead fish, and have well developed jaws for grinding up their prey. 8. The Saltwater Crocodile – Evolving around 200 million years in the Mesozoic epoch, crocodiles have far outlived the dinosaurs. The Salt water crocodile is the world’s largest reptile, and they have been known to grow up to 27 feet long and weigh 2,465 lbs. 7. Textile Cone Snail – Mother nature teaches us that anything in nature that is beautiful, is most likely deadly, and a warning to predators and humans to not touch or disturb them. This holds true for the Textile Cone Snail. 6. The Sea Snake – These highly venomous marine snakes are closely related and belong to the same family as the cobra. There are two independently evolved groups: the true sea snakes which are related to Australian terrestrial elapids, and the sea kraits which are related to Asian cobras. 5. The Lionfish – Lionfish are skilled hunters, using specialized bilateral swim bladder muscles to provide exquisite control of location in the water column, allowing the fish to alter its center of gravity to better attack prey. The lionfish then spreads its large pectoral fins and swallows its prey in a single motion. 4. The Stingray – Stingrays are a group of rays, which are cartilaginous fish related to sharks, and are one of the oceans deadliest creatures. Most stingrays have one or more barbed stingers on their tails, which are used exclusively for self-defense. 3. Blue-Ringed Octopus – This octopus has some of the most striking colors of any ocean creature. They get their name from the brightly blue colored rings on its body. 2. Needlefish – These strange looking creatures are very slender, and have a single dorsal fin, placed far back on the body. Needlefish are capable of making short jumps out of the water at up to 37 mph. Since Needlefish swim near the surface, they often leap over the decks of shallow boats rather than going around. 1. The Moray Eel - Most attacks stem from disruption of a moray's burrow to which they react strongly, but an increasing number of accidents also occur during hand feeding of morays by divers, an activity often used by dive companies to attract tourists.

Why Fish Can Drink Salt Water And We Can’t

04:10
When we drink saltwater it can kill us, yet our oceans are teeming with life. Why can some species survive in saltwater while others can’t? Why Can’t Some Birds Fly? ►►►► http://bit.ly/1UFLfQM Sign Up For The TestTube Newsletter Here ►►►► http://bit.ly/1myXbFG Read More: Study Sheds New Light on How Some Fish Adapt to Saltwater http://phys.org/news/2013-10-fish-saltwater.html “Tilapia fish readily adapt to fresh or salty water, making them both good candidates for aquaculture and potential invasive pests. New work at the University of California, Davis, shows how tilapia can change the protein makeup of their gills, allowing them to nimbly adjust to widely varying levels of water salinity.” Why Is the Ocean Salty? http://ponce.sdsu.edu/usgs_why_is_the_ocean_salty/usgs_why_is_the_ocean_salty.html “How salty the ocean is, however, defies ordinary comprehension. Some scientists estimate that the oceans contain as much as 50 quadrillion tons (50 million billion tons) of dissolved solids. If the salt in the sea could be removed and spread evenly over the Earth's land surface it would form a layer more than 500 feet thick, about the height of a 40-story office building.” How Do Salmon Change From Freshwater to Saltwater Fish? https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/05/150505082825.htm “For decades, researchers have tried to find out what regulates changes in salmon when they transform from being freshwater to saltwater fish. Now they have come a little closer to an answer. A new study shows that light -- increases in day length in the spring -- affects developmental processes in the fish's brain during smoltification.” ____________________ DNews is dedicated to satisfying your curiosity and to bringing you mind-bending stories & perspectives you won't find anywhere else! Freshwater fish vs seawater fish ion regulation-Animal Physiology

04:39
"Fish gills regulate ion differently in freshwater and saltwater." Marine water fish blood has a higher water concentration than their surrounding sea water. causing water molecules to diffuse out of the blood into their surrounding water by osmosis. These fish must replace the lost water, by the drinking their surrounding concentrated water, intaking salts which is then removed by active transport through their gills Na+-Cl- ATPase molecules, back to the seawater. Ion exchange in saltwater fish: The Na+ K+/2Cl- (NKCC) co-transporter brings in potassium ion (K+) and chloride ion (Cl-) from the extracellular fluid in the fish gill epithelial cells using the Na+ electrochemical gradient. The K+ and the Na+ separate from the 2Cl- in the the cell. The 2Cl- separate out and exit the cell through the apical surface via the Chloride channel down their concentration gradient. the K+ goes back to the extracellular fluid via the K+ channel from the cell. Na+ exit the cell that had entered through the NKCC via the Na+/K+ ATPase channel in exchange for K+ causing small potential difference (outside more negative due to the Cl- ions exiting than compared to the extracellular fluid) it drives the outward movement Na+ outside the cell. In freshwater fish water is absorbed through gills and skin by diffusion into the blood. While water moves in towards the higher osmotic pressure of the blood, Na+ and Cl- ions diffuse out of the fish, moving down their concentration gradients to the external environment. The fish then can actively take up the ions across their gills epithelial membranes from the surrounding environment to replace the constant loss of ions. Food is another way by which to replace lost Na+ and Cl-. Ion regulation is freshwater fish: The mechanism for Na+ uptake and Cl- are independent. From the dilute freshwater to the concentrated blood Na+ is actively transported against the concentration gradient. H+ is excreted out in exchange for Na+. The Cl-/HCO3 - exchange secretes the bicarbonate ion (HCO3-) in exchange for Cl- ions. HCO3- and H+ are metabolic wastes that are derived from the conversion carbon-dioxide(CO2) using carbonate anhydrase (CA). These metabolic wastes (H+ and HCO3) keeps it from generating large potential differences across the gill epithelium in freshwater fish. A protein that is responsible for sodium uptake uses ATP to exchange Na+ for K+. Setting up a Marine aquarium was always a dream... Never thought it would so soon. Amazing project. We Have done a lot of DIY things.. The entire back side sump filtration was laser cut in 5 mm acrylic material. We removed the back glass of the molded tank added the acrylic sump setup to it and silicon-ed it completely. Easiest Saltwater Fish to Keep | Aquarium Care

02:45
Watch more How to Take Care of an Aquarium videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/509909-Easiest-Saltwater-Fish-to-Keep-Aquarium-Care The easiest salt water fish to keep would definitely be fish from the grouper family, the damselfish family, triggers, lionfish, eels. These are the fish that people have been keeping since the beginning of salt water fish keeping, the 1970's, 1980's, when people really started to see this as a viable hobby. Only recently have we had a lot of success with some of the more delicate tangs, gobies, clownfish, angelfish, and butterflyfish. But within those groups there are hardier fish and there are more sensitive fish. Again, if you are a beginner, I would try a nemo clownfish or pakula clownfish, the blue damsel, the bicolor damsel, four-stripe, or three-stripe. You can go with any of the triggers. Just keep in mind some of the triggers are very aggressive. I like Niger triggers and blue throat triggers. Lionfish are great, but they get big and they can eat their smaller tank mates. But, once you get a good one they're very easy to keep. Groupers are very, very easy to keep. They have large, thick scales, very resistant to diseases. They'll eat anything. If you can't get a grouper to eat, there's something drastically wrong with your aquarium. Then some of the wrasses, lunare wrasses, six-line wrasses, yellow coris wrasses, those guys are pretty easy to keep. What I would do is try to get one fish from each family to prevent aggression, because usually fish are more aggressive towards fish of the same family. If a fish looks the same, has the same color, the same body shape, usually they eat the same foods and require the same habitats in nature. So, the fish have a built in aggression towards those fish. If you go with a hippo tang, a yellow tang, different body shape, different color, usually those fish are very compatible. If you try to go with a purple tang and a yellow tang, same shape fish, they're going to fight like crazy. So you can go with one small grouper. Keep in mind they get very large. You want to make sure that the grouper that you go with is going to have a large home eventually. A niger trigger, a small damsel, a lunare wrasse, and a small lionfish, and as these fish grow together they usually recognize their tank mates not as food. I've seen lionfish being housed with small fish from the start and they don't see their tank mates as food. It's just one of those weird things. So, mix up the different groups of fish and stick with the groups that I mentioned. Stay away from butterflyfish. Stay away from angelfish and most of the tangs; except for scopas, sailfin, hippos, yellows. A lot of them you should leave to the more dedicated, experienced reef hobbyist.

Marine Aquarium Maintenance || Salt water Fish Tank Cleaning || Salt Tank Water Change

14:06
Marine Aquarium / Salt water Fish tank Cleaning and Maintenance is a very important process to do to keep the aquarium going. Important Things - Always Age the water in a separate tub or bucket at least for 2 days before adding it into the aquarium. So that the salt gets dissolved well. Never add marine salt directly into the aquarium - Use a soft sponge to clean the glass or you will get scratches on the glass very soon. - Protein Skimmer needs to be emptied regularly once the to tank gets filled up or all the waste that is collected will get back into you tank and it will be harmful to the fishes Hope you guys like this Video Cheers, Rahul
