His poetry underwent a major re-evaluation in the late 20th century and he is often now considered to be among the most important 19th-century poets. His biographer Jonathan Bate states that Clare was "the greatest labouring-class poet that England has ever produced. No one has ever written more powerfully of nature, of a rural childhood, and of the alienated and unstable self" seehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Clare painting : Symphony in White no 1: The White Girl - Portrait of Joanna Hiffernan by James McNeill Whistler John Clare "Secret Love" analysis see : http://prezi.com/nbhl243cxw7m/john-clare-secret-love-analysis/

Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi Balkhi was a 13th century Muslim Sufi saint. After so many centuries his message of Love is being rediscovered and spread by people around the world. Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi Balkhi or as commonly known as Rumi has written a few books among them is his famous Masnavi in Persian language. His main theme in his books are Love of Allah(god), which made him love humanity, nature and everything good. In his burning in the flame of love he has written many poems and couplets. The Love of Allah was ignited in his heart by his spiritual teacher(Murshid/ Shaikh) Shams e Tabrizi who took Rumi as his only student(seeker/ salik) throughout his life. To this day Rumi's spiritual tradition continues known as Mevlavi Spiritual Order of Islamic Sufism( similar to Naqshbandia, Qadriya, Chistia, Soharwardia, Naqshbandiah Owaisiah spiritual orders), they are also known as whirling dervishes. Rumi's message is of Love, which people need the most in these days. There is great wisdom in his poetry and his message of Love is for all. Track Listings: 1. Heartbreak is one of the worst feelings a person can ever go through. Being caught up in a one-sided love can be just as painful. Background music from freesound.org by the user: cunningar0807 Poem written and performed by: Melissa Paiz

1. “Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.” 2. “This is love: to fly toward a secret sky, to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment. First to let go of life. Finally, to take a step without feet.” 3. “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” 4. “A thousand half-loves must be forsaken to take one whole heart home.” 5. “However much we describe and explain love, when we fall in love we are ashamed of our words.” 6. “Love is the bridge between you and everything.” 7. “If you find me not within you, you will never find me. For I have been with you, from the beginning of me.” 8. “Explanation by the tongue makes most things clear, but love unexplained is clearer.” 9. “Reason is powerless in the expression of Love.” 10. “Only from the heart can you touch the sky.” 11. “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” 12. “I am yours. Don’t give myself back to me.” 13. “When I am with you, we stay up all night. When you’re not here, I can’t go to sleep. Praise God for those two insomnias! And the difference between them.” 14. “I want to see you. Know your voice. Recognize you when you first come ’round the corner. Sense your scent when I come into a room you’ve just left. Know the lift of your heel, the glide of your foot. Become familiar with the way you purse your lips then let them part, just the slightest bit, when I lean in to your space and kiss you. I want to know the joy of how you whisper ‘more'.” 15. “In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.” 16. “Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.” 17. “Two there are who are never satisfied — the lover of the world and the lover of knowledge.” 18. “Wherever you are, and whatever you do, be in love.” 19. “Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.” 20. “Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”

His works include Astrophel and Stella, The Defence of Poesy (also known as The Defence of Poetry or An Apology for Poetry), and The Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Sidney Born at Penshurst Place, Kent, he was the eldest son of Sir Henry Sidney and Lady Mary Dudley. His mother was the eldest daughter of John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland, and the sister of Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester. His younger brother, Robert was a statesman and patron of the arts, and was created Earl of Leicester in 1618. His younger sister, Mary, married Henry Herbert, 2nd Earl of Pembroke and was a writer, translator and literary patron. Sidney dedicated his longest work, the Arcadia, to her. After her brother's death, Mary reworked the Arcadia, which became known as The Countess of Pembroke's Arcadia. Philip was educated at Shrewsbury School and Christ Church, Oxford. In 1572 he was elected to Parliament as Member of Parliament for Shrewsbury and in the same year travelled to France as part of the embassy to negotiate a marriage between Elizabeth I and the Duc D'Alençon. He spent the next several years in mainland Europe, moving through Germany, Italy, Poland, the Kingdom of Hungary and Austria. On these travels, he met a number of prominent European intellectuals and politicians. Returning to England in 1575, Sidney met Penelope Devereux, the future Lady Rich; though much younger, she would inspire his famous sonnet sequence of the 1580s, Astrophel and Stella. Her father, Walter Devereux, 1st Earl of Essex, is said to have planned to marry his daughter to Sidney, but he died in 1576. In England, Sidney occupied himself with politics and art. He defended his father's administration of Ireland in a lengthy document. More seriously, he quarrelled with Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, probably because of Sidney's opposition to the French marriage, which de Vere championed. In the aftermath of this episode, Sidney challenged de Vere to a duel, which Elizabeth forbade. He then wrote a lengthy letter to the Queen detailing the foolishness of the French marriage. Characteristically, Elizabeth bristled at his presumption, and Sidney prudently retired from court.

A recital of "Love's Secret", a poem by William Blake (1757 -- 1827). William Blake was an English poet, painter and printmaker. His work, though original, significant and visionary, was not greatly appreciated during Blake's lifetime. Love's Secret NEVER seek to tell thy love, Love that never told can be; For the gentle wind doth move Silently, invisibly. I told my love, I told my love, I told her all my heart, Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears. Ah! she did depart! Soon after she was gone from me, A traveller came by, Silently, invisibly: He took her with a sigh.

Who are we? What is our purpose? These are some of the greatest questions that humanity has been asking since the beginning of time. Searching for the answer, we have forgotten about ourselves in the process. We are walking around earth on autopilot, numb to our surroundings, searching outwardly for something that resides inside of us. It is not until we truly see others and recognize ourselves within another human being that we get a glimpse of the truth; that the whole Universe, God is inside of us. It is at this moment that a glimpse of reality hits us and our first smile of enlightenment is born. It is through this visual story about the discovery of God and the Universe told as a metaphor of love for another human being that we can understand the greater picture. Since the Universe is inside of us, loving each other and loving ourselves is to love God and the Universe it represents. The life we have created, because we are the creators of our life, is a real stage, and we, as the observers, must develop consciousness to understand our role and place within the Universe. We are part of the dirt, part of the trees, and part of every living being in nature, no matter how insignificant it may seem at first glance. We must understand that nature simply flows and we too must flow with it. When the veil is lifted and we realize that God is inside of us all, we finally see life for what it is, a stage and we again become the conscious observer and can finally live life with a new perspective and insight.

Also "A Poison Tree" and "The Will and the Way" The paintings are by William Blake except the Lovers, who are 17th Century French. Love's Secret NEVER seek to tell thy love, Love that never told shall be; For the gentle wind does move Silently, invisibly. I told my love, I told my love, I told her all my heart, Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears. Ah! she did depart! Soon after she has gone from me, A traveller came by, Silently, invisibly; He took her with a sigh. The Sick Rose ROSE, thou art sick! The invisible worm, That flies in the night, In the howling storm, Has found out thy bed Of crimson joy; And his dark secret love Does thy life destroy. A Poison Tree I WAS angry with my friend: I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow. And I watered it in fears, Night and morning with my tears; And I sunnèd it with smiles, And with soft deceitful wiles. And it grew both day and night, Till it bore an apple bright; And my foe beheld it shine, And he knew that it was mine, And into my garden stole, When the night had veiled the pole: In the morning glad I see My foe outstretched beneath the tree. The Will and the Way I ASKED a thief to steal me a peach: He turned up his eyes. I asked a lithe lady to lie her down: Holy and meek, she cries. As soon as I went, An Angel came, He winked at the thief, And smiled at the dame; And, without one word spoke, Had a peach from the tree, And 'twixt earnest and joke Enjoyed the lady.

"YOUR LOVE IS MY PAIN" - a sentimental love poem that is a desperate plea to be loved in return from Kyli Santiago's third book of poetry "Love, Life and Disappointment." Sometimes when we love someone so much, and they do not return the love you give, the pain can be like living in prison; the exchange between you and the other person can be torturous; and the emotional and psychological damage can become unbearable. “Your Love Is My Pain” is a sad poem that openly addresses the pain of this kind of extreme “unrequited” love. To get more from Kyli Santiago - be sure to check out the Mama'swork website: http://www.mamaswork.com Also, you can view more original spoken word poetry videos & powerful original quotes directly on our website: More spoken word videos - http://www.mamaswork.com/press/index.php/creative/spoken-word-poetry/ Original poetry quotes - http://www.mamaswork.com/press/index.php/creative/quotes/ ABOUT LOVE, LIFE AND DISAPPOINTMENT: Refreshingly liberating and endearingly provocative, Kyli Santiago’s highly anticipated third book of poetry, ”Love, Life and Disappointment” will take you on a poetic ride that explores a gamut of personal relationships … from the wonders of love at first sight, to damaging relationships that have run their course, friendships and betrayal -- and so much more. With its unapologetic voice and - at times defiant language, “Love, Life and Disappointment” will empower you with its underlying theme of self-respect and self-preservation. You will also get a glimpse into the real-life relationship experiences of Kyli Santiago as she explores the ups and downs of her own personal connections with others - and how those bonds affect her relationship with herself. “Love, Life and Disappointment” truly is a breath of fresh air that says some of the things we’ve all wanted to say at one time or another - but were afraid to. THE CONNECTION BETWEEN POETRY AND MUSIC: As we all know, there has always been a historic connection between poetry and music. Through the ages, much poetry was performed to music. Music is definitely poetry. And vice-versa. When examined more critically, the art forms of music and poetry are almost synonymous: consider that a poem evokes, passion, love, hate, anger, loss, sorrow. Music, even without lyrics can bring across the same emotions. When you add lyrics or poetry to the music, a story emerges - which then enhances the meaning and emotion, making it a song. Poetry like music exists to allow for the expression of human emotions and very often, people can connect through music or poetry by understanding a shared feeling that is otherwise difficult to express. Another similarity that exists between music and poetry, is that songs themselves have to be rhythmic. The same is true about the flow of a poem. Rhythm is what makes music as well as poetry. Poetry is about flow, rhythm, meaning and expression. Instrumental music expresses, flows and shows just as much emotion as music does with words.

I hid my love in field and town Till een the breeze would knock me down, The bees seemed singing ballads oer, The fly's bass turned a lion's roar; And even silence found a tongue, To haunt me all the summer long; The riddle nature could not prove Was nothing else but secret love. It’s those goddamn eyes And the fact that he’s genuine seems to come as a surprise ‘Cause there aren’t that many guys that can sit down and be real with you They’d rather make a meal of you But he makes you laugh and he’s sweet and he’s kind And great googly moogly, he’s an all-round dime Plus he does the rolled-up sleeves thing You know we love the rolled-up sleeves thing) He crosses your mind a couple times a day And when you see him in the playground he might even say ‘hey’ But you got other things to stress about like GCSEs on the way Or whether if you wear a push-up bra you’ll be a slut…what I really missed having a crush and then it happened And now I know it’s worse than I imagined Forget that parma-violets-write-it-in-my-diary-girly shit Forget admiring from afar, it feels like I’ve been hit And now my brain is perpetually focused on he and him and his Let me re-evaluate the situation I’m in You fancy them but it’s like fancying a coke Sweet but toxic chemicals be making your insides choke You’ve fallen for him but it’s like falling on concrete ground Not onto heart-shaped pillows arranged in a soft mound You’ve got a crush on him but he’s not the one that’s crushed It’s you, with a figurative two-tonne truck Wherever he is is the place you wanna be Whoever he’s with is who you wanna be Be prepared to be consumed by irrationality Mostly consisting of you making up dumb fantasies That will never be. But potentially, potentially There’s always that slice of hope that you cling onto desperately Then you slash it yourself by wailing ‘he’s too old for me!’ Or ‘good for me’ or ‘that other friend he has is way hotter than me!’ Trying to test the waters by making that eye contact Is he sending you a signal or is he just in fact Doing what he does to everyone, and though you’re nice to him He might just think you’re being nice. Scheming, plotting, planning to try and make lines less blurry If he ever knew what goes on behind the scenes, Lord have mercy! Overthinking everything down to a five-word text Never have two blue stagnant ticks ever got you so vexed When you’re tryna impress and progress it’s not the time For him to be brushing the convo off lightly, dickhead You’re in a love-hate relationship and he ain’t got a clue That there’s even a relationship between the two of you You know what I mean? Maybe that’s just me With me it’s all or nothing You think I’m bluffing I go from zero to a hundred, bitch, real quick, double cupping Give me that pure and innocent feeling once again Give me something other than my life really depends On this guy because it’s bullshit and I know it But unfortunately in here we’re on a different planet They come and go like the seasons I wish I gave myself the same amount of reason I give to all my friends when they’re stressing ‘bout their man I’m always the one that is present when shit hits the fan But I could take a shower in shit and be unaware I guess the saying ‘love is blind’ didn’t come from nowhere But it’s not love…it’s a crush. -
