15 Recent Science Discoveries You Wont Believe

08:39
15 amazing recent discoveries in the world of science and here they are from bionic contact lenses to reanimating dinosaur dna! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 7. New Human Species Biologists all over the world were intrigued upon hearing the 2015 discovery of a new species of human, Homo Naledi, allowing for an ever clearer picture of our ancient ancestry. The findings were unveiled deep in an underground cave in South Africa and is considered one of the greatest collection of human remains ever unearthed. So far, it is known that this species of human grew to an average height of 5 feet and had a brain no larger than an orange. The way the bones in the South African cave were arranged suggests that these human ancestors ritualistically buried their dead, giving scientists a glimpse into our cultural past. 6. Bionic Lens While still in the testing stage, the founder of Ocumetics Technology Corp may have stumbled upon a revolutionary technology that could augment the way humans perceive the world. A new bionic contact lens will give wearers an ability to see the world with stronger than 20/20 vision. Some subjects, who have already tried the lens themselves, claim that they not only see better than ever before but have identified a unique spectrum of colors unfamiliar to the unaided eye. Is this perhaps the first step in the direction of a new era of superhumans? 5. Harder Than Diamond Scientists may have recently discovered a substance harder than diamond, Q-carbon. What gives diamonds their excellent hardness are the chemical bonds that hold them together. The carbon in diamonds is held together by incredibly tight chemical bonds at the microscopic level, giving diamonds their prominent hardness. By the manipulation of carbon atoms, scientists were able to augment their chemical bonds, producing a material that is potentially 60 times harder than diamond. While this substance is still being experimented on, it is a potential prospect for the future of cheap, efficient technologies. 4. First Mammals Researchers from the University of Edinburgh have discovered an ancient species of mammals that survived the notorious extinction of the dinosaurs over 65 million years ago. The reason this find is so significant is that it gives us a glimpse at how mammals began to rule the world previously dominated by their cold-blooded counterparts. The mammal is thought to have been a plant-eater closely resembling a modern beaver. Once the dinosaurs were eliminated these beaver-like creatures began to flourish, given that they were no longer victims of dinosaur predators. Because these little guys were able to withstand the destruction that wrecked havoc on the dinosaurs, an array of mammals, including our ancestors, were finally able to leave their mark on the world. 3. Whale Gene Mapping Gene mapping is starting to look less like a theoretical nicety and more like an applied science with this new aquatic discovery. Scientists have finally discovered why Bowhead Whales are able to live to 200 years old by remapping their entire genome. By comparing the genome of Bowhead Whales with the genome of other mammals with a less impressive lifespan, scientists were able to point out marked differences. Bowhead longevity is due to its genes’ effectiveness in repairing gene deterioration, which is the cause of cancer and other ailments known to cut human life short. By further studying this animal’s genes, scientists may finally be able to restore our own faulty genetic system, substantially lengthening our lives. 2. Second Earth NASA has recently confirmed their discovery of a possible second Earth. Kepler-452b orbits its sun in what scientists call the “Goldilocks Zone,” which is the habitable region in space, not too far or close to the sun, necessary for the possibility of life to flourish. The new planet appears to have a rocky surface as well as liquid water, which is another key ingredient for life to subsist. Although not much is known about if there is life beyond Earth, it makes sense to take notice of planets similar to our own. 1. Animal Re-animation Scientists have always been intrigued by the prospect of re-animating creatures that have been extinct for many years. While bringing a dinosaur back to life would be kind of cool, bringing a Wooly Mammoth back to life would be just as cool, and that is just what scientists are trying to do. Because Wooly Mammoths and Saber-Toothed Tigers have only been extinct for tens of thousands of years, unlike the millions of years dinosaurs have been extinct, intact DNA samples are much easier to find. Scientists believe it is possible to recreate these extinct beasts by cloning them with DNA and tissue samples, which have been found, over the years, preserved in ice.

High-resolution screen printing demystified

23:27
A complete guide to making high-resolution screen prints with minimal tools. Notes: When applying film emulsion to the screen, the matte surface should face the screen. The glossy surface is the plastic backing, which is removed later, just before exposure. The resolution test shown in the video actually indicates line width, not pitch. So, the 1mm sample has 1mm lines and 1mm spaces. Thus, the pitch is actually 2mm. The Nazdar paint instructions say there is a 30 minute "induction" period that is needed for the catalyst to start working. Nope. Just weigh out the paint and catalyst, mix, and immediately apply to the screen. Print the needed items quickly, and clean it off the screen as soon as possible. Use disposable mixing cups / tools. It is *messy*! If your emulsion is not sticking to the screen, even with very long exposure times, it probably isn't dry. The green film may seem fairly dry after a few hours, but adhesion during the wash out process will be poor until it is really completely dry, then exposed. Gerald Schroeder is a scientist with over thirty years of experience in research and teaching. He earned his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate degrees all at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with his doctorate thesis being under the supervision of physics professor Robley D. Evans. This was followed by five years on the staff of the MIT physics department prior to moving to Israel, where he joined the Weizmann Institute of Science and then the Volcani Research Institute, while also having a laboratory at The Hebrew University. His Doctorate is in two fields: Earth sciences and physics. Schroeder's formal theological training in biblical, talmudic and kabalistic interpretation includes fifteen years of study under the late Rabbi Herman Pollack, Rabbi Chaim Brovender and Rabbi Noah Weinberg, of blessed memory. The scientific career that Schroeder chose has given him varied and often unusual experiences. In his work with nuclear disarmament, he has been present at the detonation of six atomic bombs. Work in control of radioactivity has put him hundreds of meters below ground in U.S. and foreign uranium mines. Within this research, he invented and had patented the first real time monitor for airborne alpha beta gamma emitters. The government of the People's Republic of China, during the decade before it established direct contacts with Israel, was willing to overlook his Jerusalem address and had him as a frequent advisor. He also has consulted for agencies of the governments of Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Canada, USA. Invitations for him to lecture have come from around the world. He has over 60 publications in the world's leading scientific journals on topics ranging from the radon atmosphere of the moon (in Science) to the metabolism of mother's milk (in Nutrition Reports International). The results of Schroeder's work have been reported in Time, Newsweek, Scientific American and in newspapers as far apart as Boston and Adelaide. His formal training in chemistry, physics and the Earth and planetary sciences provides the basis for the broad scientific perspective he brings to his books and lectures. For the past twenty-five years, Dr. Schroeder has also pursued a study of ancient biblical interpretation. An ability to handle the biblical material in the original languages allows him to tap the subtle depths contained in the original texts. These nuances are often missed when working with translations. The uniqueness and success of Schroeder's approach integrating biblical and scientific knowledge is demonstrated by the success of his first book, Genesis and the Big Bang (published by Bantam Doubleday), and the wide acclaim for his second book The Science of God (published by The Free Press of Simon & Schuster and Broadway Books of Bantam Doubleday) which was on the Barnes & Noble list of non-fiction best sellers and was Amazon.com's best selling book in the field of physics/cosmology for all of 1998. This was followed by The Hidden Face of God, discovering the unity that binds all existence (published by The Free Press of Simon & Schuster). His book, God According to God, A scientist proves we've been wrong about God all along, was published in May 2009 with HarperOne and has enthusiastic endorsements by leading theologians, both Jewish and Christian, and a Noble Laureate scientist.

7-minute workout featured in New York Times Magazine http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/the-scientific-7-minute-workout/ 12 exercises 30 seconds each and 10 seconds of relaxing between them. 12 ejercicios 30 segundos cada uno y 10 segundos de descanso entre ellos. The exercises should be performed in rapid succession, allowing 30 seconds for each, while, throughout, the intensity hovers at about an 8 on a discomfort scale of 1 to 10, Mr. Jordan says. Those seven minutes should be, in a word, unpleasant. The upside is, after seven minutes, you’re done. La intensidad debe subir a 8 en una escala de 1-10, hasta producir una sensación algo dolorosa. PLANET X HAS BEEN FOUND and it is TEN TIMES THE SIZE OF EARTH with a 20,000 year orbit (Nibiru)

03:55
Planet x has been found scientist say in a recent paper. Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown, two CalTech scientists, say the new planet is about 10 times the mass of Earth and has an atmosphere of hydrogen and helium. Science magazine reports that the mysterious "Planet X" moves in a distant orbit beyond Neptune. The researchers haven't observed Planet X itself, but believe it exists because of the unique configuration of six objects when they come closest to the sun, according to Science. "Although we were initially quite skeptical that this planet could exist, as we continued to investigate its orbit and what it would mean for the outer solar system, we become increasingly convinced that it is out there," Batygin said in a statement. "There is solid evidence that the solar system's planetary census is incomplete." What do you guys think? What do you think would happen if that massive planet entered close to earth? Antarctica losing 6-times more ice than 40 years ago - TomoNews

02:19
ANTARCTICA — New research sheds a light on how much ice exactly has melted in the past decades and what is causing the current rise in global sea levels, reports Phys.org. According to a paper published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Antarctica has been losing six times more ice mass annually than 40 years ago due to climate-induced melting. This rapid rate of melting has increased global sea levels by more than half an inch. The forty-year long research was conducted by glaciologists from the University of California, Irvine, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Netherlands' Utrecht University who studied 18 regions in Antarctica including 176 basins and neighboring islands from 1979 to 2017. The team found that the ice continent had shed 40 gigatons of mass annually from 1979 to 1990. The rate of loss increased six-fold to 252 gigatons per year between 2009 to 2017. The team gathered data by analyzing aerial images taken by NASA's Operation IceBridge, observing satellite radar interferometry from multiple space agencies and studying Landsat satellite imagery series which have been ongoing since the 1970s. Another study published in the journal Nature GeoScience revealed that variations in Earth's axial tilt, known as obliquity, affect the rise and fall of the Antarctic Ice Sheet. That team also discovered a thin frozen layer of ocean water that surrounds Antarctica, known as sea ice, is vital in order to protect large portions of the continent's underwater ice from warmer waters. Currently, sea ice levels in Antarctica are at their lowest since measurements started being recorded in 1979. Scientists warn that increasing levels of human-generated carbon dioxide could threaten the stability of the Antarctic Ice Sheet and dangerously elevate global sea levels. Experience the magic of Machine Learning in e-commerce industry www.analyticsindiasummit.com The e-commerce industry has greatly evolved over the past decade, newer technologies, advanced computational power, big data analysis, machine learning, and digital marketing have substantially contributed towards this growth. Data analysis has played an important role to understand customers better and this has led to a paradigm shift in the industry. Data is no longer a by-product of the business model but can be considered as a key driver to understand customer behaviour, return on investment, and to formulate customer acquisitions and retention strategies. The average customer of today uses at least four devices – mobile, tablet, laptop, and a desktop daily. Smartphones are used to make online purchases. This topic would be focussed on different areas of machine learning and its application ranging from Assortment Planning, Marketing Analytics, Pricing Analytics, Smart Supply Chain Management, Promotion Planning, Product Development and Design. The topic also emphases on extensive application of machine learning in Amazon, Myntra, Walmart and HDFC. The topic would also cover multiple experiments carried out in different e-commerce businesses. Lastly, we will also cover the impact of Economic Conditions and Competitor Analysis in e-commerce domain.

Does time exist? - Andrew Zimmerman Jones

More precise time-keeping eventually came along to put time in more convenient boxes. But what exactly are we measuring? Andrew Zimmerman Jones contemplates whether time is something that physically exists or is just in our heads. Lesson by Andrew Zimmerman Jones, directed by Nice Shoes. America's Funniest Science Writer: You’ll Never See Our Nation’s Defenders in the Same Way Again

In 1996, her article on earthquake-proof bamboo houses, "The Bamboo Solution", took the American Engineering Societies Engineering Journalism Award in the general interest magazine category. In her article, civil engineer Jules Janssen remarked that bamboo is "stronger than wood, brick, and concrete... A short, straight column of bamboo with a top surface area of 10 square centimeters could support an 11,000-pound elephant." Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers was a New York Times Bestseller, a 2003 Barnes & Noble "Discover Great New Writers" pick, and one of Entertainment Weekly's "Best Books of 2003." Stiff also won the Amazon.com Editor's Choice award in 2003, was voted as a Borders Original Voices book, and was the winner of the Elle Reader's Prize.[40] The book has been translated into at least 17 languages, including Hungarian (Hullamerev) and Lithuanian (Negyvėliai).[5] Stiff was also selected for the Washington State University Common Reading Program in 2008–2009.[41] Roach's column "My Planet" (Reader's Digest) was runner-up in the humor category of the 2005 National Press Club awards.[4][5] Roach's second book, Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife, was the recipient of the Elle Reader's Prize in October 2005. Spook was also listed as a New York Times Notable Books pick in 2005, as well as a New York Times Bestseller. In 2008, Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex, was chosen as the New York Times Book Review Editor's Choice, it was in The Boston Globe Top 5 Science Books, and it was listed as a bestseller in several other publications.[42] In 2011, Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void, was chosen as the book of the year for the seventh annual "One City One Book: San Francisco Reads" literary event program.[43] Packing for Mars was also sixth on the New York Times Best Seller list.[44] In 2012, Roach was the recipient of the Harvard Secular Society's Rushdie Award[45] for her outstanding lifetime achievement in cultural humanism. The same year, she received a Special Citation in scientific inquiry from Maximum Fun. Her book Gulp: Adventures on the Alimentary Canal (Oneworld) was on the shortlist for the 2014 Royal Society Winton Prize for Science Books. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Roach

Days 8-15: Day 8 - Jan 17, 2014 - Move in to new tank Day 9 - Jan 18, 2014 15:52 Day 10 - Jan 19, 2014 21:13 Day 11 - Jan 20, 2014 25:51 Day 12 - Jan 21, 2014 29:44 Day 13 - Jan 22, 2014 35:43 Day 14 - Jan 23, 2014 39:22 Day 15 - Jan 24, 2014 46:55 - Triops Found Died 9:45 A.M. Notes for subscribers: If you are planning on getting this kit, be prepared to maintain your Triops daily. Every day I would clean the tank, feed them (2X) and also add fresh water. They were kept at the specified temperature and covered at night as noted in the instructions. It is important to know that over the two week time period I used around QTY 4 - 1.5L bottles of water. Each day I would fill my little bowls with fresh water and put it under the same light as the tank. This way the new water was close in temperature when it was added to the tank. I also did feed them cauliflower and they seamed to like that. At this point I can't say what happened to them. It was very strange as to why they both died around the same time. I did add a little fresh carrot in the morning, but they did not die until later. Not sure if the carrots played a part, but that is the only thing that was changed on the day they died. Sorry I could not keep them going! I planned on 4 weeks of video so we can all see how big they can get. Academics expose corruption in Grievance Studies

06:35
This playlist is the best way to learn about the The Grievance Studies Affair' and track the story as it unfolds - https://bit.ly/2zkBKBn This is first video revealing the behind-the-scenes story of how a trio of concerned left-wing academics (James Lindsay, Peter Boghossian and Helen Pluckrose) published seven intentionally absurd papers in leading scholarly journals in what has become known as 'The Grievance Studies Affair'. This series is associated with a feature-length documentary I'm working on. My plan is to play around with some of the footage I gather and upload it here to generate an audience and have a creative outlet while I learn about the complicated subject matter. My usual sources of film funding are blocked off to me because of the sensitive subject matter and the slow approach I'm taking.
