http://www.woltersworld.com Traveling in Europe by train is an amazing experience, you get to see the countryside, take in some local flair and see all the little towns you can imagine. But it is not all fun and games on the train. There are unwritten rules, crowded commuter trains and much more. The best and worst of European train travel or Europe by train. Train Travel in Europe : For First Time Train Travelers

16:51
I was hesitant to upload this video due to looking like another stupid American, but I decided to upload it anyways --- this is what I feel holds a lot of Americans back. We travel a lot by car, carpool, Buses, but then rarely do we travel by train unless there are those that live in a big city. Even when I lived in Dallas, the complexity was not as difficult as those in the European countries. So this video is both for comedic relief, as well as to help those who do want to travel across Europe. The start of the video is in Prague, when I thought I was so overwhelmed by the 'VAST train station' ---- yet then was headed to the largest and most complex train station in Europe......Berlin. Steps to not screwing up backpacking through Europe: 1- buy ticket, reserve seat & make sure you are there at least 30 minutes early so you don't miss your train. Especially if you are traveling across countries. 2- Get on the right train, via the right platform, and make sure that the car you enter is the exact car you need to take (apparently the cars separate at different stops and you don't want to be left behind unknowingly) --- IF YOU DON'T KNOW, ASK!!!! Ask after you get on the train if you must, they will close the doors when the conductor blows the whistle. 3- Once seated, look at your ticket......look at the next platform you need to go to and when your train arrives and when the next departs. You will need to know this because you may need to run across the station to platform 12b from platform 1a in 15 minutes......and there is always the slow person.... 4- Keep your ticket in hand! You need it to scan in and scan out of each of the train stations. The ticket must be current, or you can get a fine. If you have a Eurail Pass, you can just scan the code on the outside of the ticket to get through the gates. The Eurail tickets sometimes have their own gates, so try to go with the gate not everyone is going through (if you can't understand the Language). 5- Make sure you are getting on the right type of train. If you get on the wrong train you can still get fined. It may be going to the right place, but if you get on the faster train or get on an inter-city train instead, you can get fined. Just hold your ticket up and flash it in people's faces (NOT FORCEFULLY) just a gentle suggestion as 'if anyone is looking at this, maybe they will tell me it's the wrong ticket, lol' 6- Bring your own water, your phone charger, and a travel pillow --- especially if you have a sleeper train -- small backpacks are the best.....just minimize by packing like the news told you the city was going to be bombed and you had 15 minutes before you had to be evacuated. That will get you everything you need in one bag. Yes you will probably smell......bring Febreeze.....trust me.....there are people who smell worse on the trains. Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucerne, Paris, London by train

55:37
http://tourvideos.com/ Rome to London by train, featuring the best of Italy, Switzerland, France and England. Jump to the different cities or watch it all: Rome at 2:34; Florence at 8:43; Venice at 16:53; Lucerne at 22:42; Paris at 27:50; London at 34:10; Comments at 44:39 Rome highlights include lunch at Campo dei Fiori and a walking tour to the Pantheon, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican Museum and St. Peters, best of Europe. Florence is always listed in the world’s top-ten places to visit because of the Renaissance tradition we still see in the architecture, and the overall beauty of the city, not to mention great restaurants. Our walking tour with local guide brings us to the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and across the Arno River to Oltrarno. We also enjoy steak at il Porcospino, a favorite restaurant, with a most friendly waiter, Franco. Venice is the city of dreams, a place like no other, with water for streets and boats for cars. Our several walking tours bring us into the heart of town including: Rialto, San Marco, the Basilica, hidden restaurants, and of course, a gondola ride. Lucerne is an ideal town to visit on your trip through Switzerland, with a lovely pedestrian zone, historic buildings in the typical style, waterfront cafes and views, and nearby mountains including Titlis, which we ascend in this journey. Paris, perhaps the world’s most beautiful city, including: TGV arrival, walk to the Opera, Chartier dinner, stroll to Rue Montorgueil, open-top bus tour, Versailles, the Louvre, Latin Quarter and more… London, capital of England, is our globe-trotting filmmaker’s favorite city, and this summary demonstrates why this city is so compelling. We bring you all over the center of town, including Soho, Covent Garden, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Burlington Arcade, Fortnum & Mason, Changing the Guard, open-top bus tour, Inns of Court, The City and the Tower of London. Comments: An ideal Europe trip should include the major cities of London, Paris and Rome, along with a look at Switzerland in Lucerne, and the other greatest of Italian places, Florence and Venice. We summarize the journey with comments from our travelers about their favorites and general feelings about the trip, travelling by train and staying in each city for several days.

World's Most Beautiful Railway - The Bernina Express

10:01
Shortly after the construction of the Gotthard tunnel, Switzerland pulled off another pioneering achievement: the construction of the Thusis - St. Moritz railway line between 1899 and 1903. This opened the Upper Engadine to tourists. The Rhaetian Railway still passes over the same bridges and through the same loop tunnels. A still greater challenge was the subsequent construction of the Bernina Railway. No other railway in the world overcomes such steep gradients and winds through such steep curves without the help of a cogwheel. Taking Your Dog on a Train in Europe

04:34
We've been traveling around Europe with our Standard Poodle, James. Most of the trains in Europe are dog friendly. In fact, we haven't found a train that wasn't dog friendly yet. I explain this in the video - but when you are researching train tickets online, you can't seem to buy them once you add a "dog" or "hund" to your search terms. We couldn't figure this out so we went and asked at the OBB train ticket office in Vienna. When you travel with your dog, you have to buy the tickets in person at the train station. I go into the office knowing exactly what date and time and train number I want and then I buy two tickets and one dog ticket. So far, only one train has been sold out where there wasn't an option for a dog ticket. And that was a night train from Vienna to Venice. When traveling on a night train with your dog, you have to book a private sleeper cabin. But on most other trains you just buy your tickets that day or a few days in advance and pick an open seat. There is usually an option to reserve a seat for a little extra but you don't usually need that unless you are traveling on a busy date (holidays, some Fridays or Sundays). And some trains do require you to reserve a seat - usually the high speed trains. The local regional trains are even easier for traveling with your dog. Those tickets can be bought at a kiosk at the train station on the day you travel. Keep in mind most local and regional train tickets are open-ended (they aren't for a set time and sometimes not even a set date) so you MUST validate the ticket using the machines on the platform. Otherwise you could get in trouble when the conductor checks your tickets - if your ticket isn't validated, it is as if you don't have a ticket at all. We also travel with a muzzle for James. Some conductors will ask you to put your muzzle on your dog. It depends on the country. Almost everywhere in Austria required a muzzle and one train in Italy asked for us to put J's muzzle on him. You also need to have an EU pet passport for your dog. We haven't been asked for this yet on a train (we also haven't been asked for our passports on a train) but you do need to be prepared and have it if asked. Music: Clover 3 by Vibe Mountain

Paris to Milan by TGV train - video guide

06:44
Tickets from Paris to Milan or Turin start at just €29 - for information or to buy tickets online see https://www.seat61.com/Paris-to-Milan-by-TGV-train.htm A beginner's guide to travel from Paris to Turin or Milan by high-speed TGV train, showing the train interior & exterior, the scenery and the food on board. Three daily French TGVs link Paris Gare de Lyon with Turin and Milan, from €29 one-way booked direct with French Railways. The video shows the 14:41 from Paris arriving Turin 20:13, Milan Porta Garibaldi at 21:50, with an easy connection from London St Pancras by Eurostar. The video was taken in June, and there was still snow on the highest peaks - the weather wasn't great on this occasion, overcast with brooding clouds, the route looks far better in proper summer sun or winter snow! Fans of BBC Top Gear may recognise a shot or two in this video - I supplied a few clips to the Beeb for their Wembley to Milan TGV-versus-Mustang 'race' first shown in February 2013.

Discover Europe by train and see a side of Europe you won't see from anywhere else. From mountain ranges through to sleepy coves and bustling towns. Europe by train has something for everyone. You don't see this on a plane Watch our video to see what it’s like to fly around Europe by train. We blended our most popular European train journeys into one Instagram-worthy trip, which you can take to experience the beautiful, the historical, and the jaw-dropping. Fly around Europe by train Flying may give you a bird’s-eye view, but to really get to know a country you need to see it from the ground. From your train window, you can imagine just how tall those snow-capped mountains are, or just how wide that forest stretches, as it whizzes past your carriage window. Travelling by train is an unforgettable part of your trip and something you shouldn’t miss out on. Our European trip – Five countries, four days The adventure begins in Cologne, Germany, as the train heads south through the Rhine Valley and Black Forest. Scenic views of ripe vineyards and flowing rivers are yours for the taking here! Hop across the border and you’re in Swiss Alps territory, travelling the iconic Konstanz to Tirano route. Next up, it’s Tirano, in northern Italy, down to Ventimiglia – via fashion capital Milan, of course. Then, a coast-hugging train ride through the South of France, to Nice – just the ticket for views of traditional French villages, winding all the way down to Marseille. And, for the final leg of the trip, it’s another border crossing into Spain. From Barcelona to Madrid there’s a real change in landscape – we’re talking mountains, plains and even deserts. Find out more and start planning your adventure here: https://www.trainline.eu/information/trains-in-europe Love the poem? It's called From a Railway Carriage by Robert Louis Stevenson. The full version is below: Faster than fairies, faster than witches, Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches; And charging along like troops in a battle, All through the meadows the horses and cattle: All of the sights of the hill and the plain Fly as thick as driving rain; And ever again, in the wink of an eye, Painted stations whistle by. Here is a child who clambers and scrambles, All by himself and gathering brambles; Here is a tramp who stands and gazes; And there is the green for stringing the daisies! Here is a cart run away in the road Lumping along with man and load; And here is a mill and there is a river: Each a glimpse and gone forever!

Frecciarossa 1000 Executive Class | Europe's Best Train? | Trip Report

11:42
Hi, this is my report about my trip with the Tranitalia Frecciarossa 1000 from Rome Termini to Milano Centrale in Executive Class. The ETR1000 is a high-speed train in Italy and the Executive Class is comparable to a First or Business Class product in a plane - very luxurious seats, perfect service, lounge access and many other things, that make traveling comfortable. To be honest, I haven't seen that level of perfection in any other European high-speed train before, so yes, this is my new favourite. This is my very first train travel report. So if you have any suggestions for future videos, let me know in the comments! As always I want to point out that I'm no professional video editor whatsoever. Nevertheless I give my best to create entertaining and informative videos. If you want to support this work, just subscribe to my channel. Thank you! As always, I have written a short article about my trip on my blog: http://the-jetstreamer.com/frecciarossa-1000-europes-best-train-travel-report/ You also find many other reports and my thoughts on different things there: http://travelmentary.tv/frecciarossa-1000-europes-best-train-travel-report/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music: created it myself :-)

Why Travel by Train in Europe?

01:26
Traveling by train enhances your entire European experience: from genuine interactions with locals to relaxing journeys and no wasted time at airports. With quiet gazing through panoramic windows as you're whisked from city center to city center. With gourmet dining and no hassles. The train brings out our best. It's relaxing. It's serene. It's intimate. It opens us to everything the journey has to offer; the simple pleasures of personally connecting with other people and cultures. We also believe part of that serenity comes from knowing the train is a low-impact form of travel that preserves the authenticity of the regions and natural beauty we pass through. In fact, high-speed trains are three times as energy efficient as regional trains, but even the slowest train is 25% more energy efficient than cars. Is it any wonder trains are so popular? For access to the most choices and best rates, make sure you book in advance. Because a little bit of planning can mean a lot more traveling. With over 50 different railway systems, it's much easier for the North American traveler to ride the rails than plan their own trip on them. That's why we're here. Rail Europe offers a unified booking experience across Europe, with the ability to package products from different carriers. And we have special relationships with carriers that started over 75 years ago. These relationships have led to special agreements benefiting our clients, including technology that enables us to offer and sell more rail travel options than any other provider. It's simple. With Rail Europe you don't have to sort out the details, we already have. Visit us at at http://www.raileurope.com.
