The costumse on this show are BEAUTIFUL. I want every one of Margaery's dresses. I love how much story the costumes convey. I missed so much! But I did notice the Samurai influence on the Walker's armor. Very cool.
Diana B (5 days ago)
the necklace she is wearing is the one sansa has once she gets back to winterfell
BigDirtyUncle (5 days ago)
this lady should have not been allowed to design the shows armor. She did a horrible job of it.
HowSci (5 days ago)
I never pay attention to the costumes, unless it totally doesn't make sense or outlandish.
Jim (9 days ago)
Michele Clapton did a really fantastic job. I've never looked up a costume designer before, but she really did an amazing job. I don't care how much Kit complains about cloaks in Spain. 👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤
Aliana Jacobs (10 days ago)
I love her work! People who work in the movie business are so passionate and inspiring!
Moriganne M. (12 days ago)
The designer has the same kind of necklace as Sansa in the later seasons
ghosted166 (12 days ago)
Her work is so impressive. Wow, so many masterful costumes! Interesting documentary.

Guessing the look of those scars would fit historical acounts of inuit and native american tribal tattoos, for inspiration.

The head designer is a genius!
Kyle Brown (28 days ago)
that baby's traumatised now, well done
Lisa McDonald (28 days ago)
The costumes seem like such a normal, hidden thing at first glance but actually thinking about how they make the fabric, Sequences, embroidery etc is nuts. Not only a hell lot of work that goes in it but also thought. Incredible
Ana Abendroth (29 days ago)
I truly believe costuming can make or break a movie, and an invaluable tool for the actors who wear them. This woman's eye and talent are incredible.
PTM45 smi (1 month ago)
Was that a real baby?
Goodness Gracious (1 month ago)
That’s so amazing they changed the shot for the dress and rightfully so because it stole the scene!
Taya Schleusner (1 month ago)
What a wonderful opportunity for such a creative mind; so much diversity in each character's look! How exciting it is to see a concept become a reality, knowing that your ideas give the actors the inspiration to 'be' their characters. Dream job done by a masterful artist!

about thingy Sansa has on her belt: if i were designer, would had made it screwtop container for needles. or simple cork-top. real thing - women had this on their belts, where to keep pins and needles. also, if designed as here, pointy end, is useful if some ppl do not understand personal space or are jus trying to kill or rape you. actuerly, no harm in carrying a knife as well, for lady. peasant women did, it is nice touch to national costume here.
p1rgit (12 days ago)
+julie Wallis well, it is fantasy fiction in medieval pretty realistic setting (except that it happens to have dragons) - ppl are wearing realistic things, not fantasy veils or... fantasies :) look at attention to realistic details e.g. in LotR, hobbits' clothing and other. much fantasier fantasy there. elves and ents and whatnot. no harm in having nice and practical things even in fantasy word.
julie Wallis (12 days ago)
p1rgit “women had this on their belts”....you seem to be confusing ‘real life events’ with fantasy fiction! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Oh! It's ROSES in Joffrey's crown! I've always thought they were sperm.
Australiantatious (2 months ago)
I really wish they kept the "Dark Sansa" look. It really made her come off as someone who has lived through a lot, and knows-more or less-what she's doing, and what others are doing. I never understood why they went from Sansa finally understanding a bit about the Game straight to Ramsay, where she just seemed like the Sansa from season 3 again. Really bugged me. And then back to "Dark Sansa" again in Season 7. Like, ugh, just bloody pick a personality. For fuck's sake, mate.
Santannie Smith (2 months ago)
after watching all these videos i will be watching season 8 focusing on the intricacy of everything
Santannie Smith (12 days ago)
+julie Wallis this is exactly what i did😂
julie Wallis (12 days ago)
Santannie Smith you will not! You’ll be focusing on the battles, the deaths, the beasts, the weapons, the fear factor
So, so cool! And I really loved Night King guy playing with the baby)) I mean, this guy is SCARY and yet the baby appeared to be having fun)) Makes total sense btw. Little guy had to get accustomed to NK's looks not to be bawling every time he'd be approached by this masterpiece of a monstrosity)))
leftyfourguns (2 months ago)
So that's why Tywin was always so uptight, he never got any wind up his skirt

PLEASE DONT USE LEATHER FOR ARMOUR, it just dosent make any sence....if you want some one to be light typ of fighter, just give him gambison....oh and please use more of gambison....and where the hell are neck protections, where are gauntlets, both mail and plate gauntlets
Andrea Hoffman (10 days ago)
+julie Wallis Right - it is fantasy, but... It is based on medieval times. The clothes for knights should have neck protections, shirts made of chains etc (shirt made of chains was used for more then 800 years). For ladies: More embroidery with clear CONTRAST. Embroidered everything! INCLUSIVE SHOES. More and heavier jewellery. Previous stones. Diamonds, rubins, sapphires. Tons of gold. This is ruling class. This clothes what GOT designers made are nice but to decent. They needed to get extravagant. Think Elisabeth Taylor in Cleopatra.
julie Wallis (12 days ago)
Orka DRLJAČA oh do come back when you can spell! It’s a fantasy land and *you* think the production team will listen to your shit ideas? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I have seen copies of this and they get the textiles all wrong, no knowledge of textiles in that era at all. So why even bother. This exquisite design should never get an underscore.

Michelle Clapton(or anyone affiliated with her)what's Sansa's needle point necklace made of? Did y'all turn brass on a lathe or what? It looks really nifty. I'm curious from an engineering perspective.

I wish people dressed like this now. The Mountain in overalls wielding a greatsword in one hand. How could you not want to submit to that?

Kattunge (1 year ago)
The costumes are what makes this show so goddamn great. Without it the characters wouldn't be authentic, the time and place wouldn't be set, it wouldn't have the same feel of richness of cultures. It is my favorite part. I'm always amazed at the fabric and detail and unique aspect with hints to our own reality, but they still create an entirely new world.
Malena Sander (1 year ago)
Kattunge yeah I know they’re very good and gave the background to the show and details about the characters. „Costume CO“ has very good analysis of the costumes on her channel.
Kev F (1 year ago)
I loooooooooove Lord Petyr baelish's costume, that cloak is fabulous honey yaaaz!! Maybe I'll try to get inspired and make a homemade inspired cloak jacket 🤔...... well winter ❄️ is coming child !!😂😂😂😂

Someone needs to change the belt in that car they had running while Pedro Pascal was speaking. All that money and they still don't have a working vehicle lol
That's the sound of cicadas, not a car. Cicadas are incredibly loud in the summer months.
I'd really love a GoT fashion show
Sansa's necklace looks like a stop sign
Moira Leigh (1 year ago)
chocolate thun-da I'm pretty that's the point
Armando (1 year ago)
I wish they've given the armor of the White Walkers/Others that reflective quality, but I guess that would've been a bitch to do without CGI.
Nikki Morris (1 year ago)
I wish they would this costume, design commentary for each season; I am really interested in the Season 7 one as I thought Dany and Cersei's costumes were amazing as well as the armor that many of the men wore at the Dragon Pit scene. This designer is truly amazing. . .I assume she has won an Emmy or Golden Globe for her work; if not, she deserves it--her integration of the character, the history, and the costumes is amazing!
Reva FoSho (14 days ago)
I would actually pay to watch that for every season...it is fascinating and SO impressive! Makes me think about going into clothing design
Lilly Rose (1 year ago)
I wanna know why they all wear black now. I miss the colors.

The Renly dwarf is riding Loras? Don't you think the Tyrells would be a little offended by that?
Modern World (20 days ago)
+Dusty Dust What exactly makes that "left-wing"? It's offensive. You just admitted it was offensive because that was Joffrey's intention. So what is your problem?
Dusty Dust (11 months ago)
You sound so left-wing. 1: The Tyrells are fictional. 2: The scene was orchestrated by Joffrey to offend everyone associated with the other 4 'kings'.
Fatima (1 year ago)
StageLined Productions Stannis was also riding the red woman
TheDragiix3 (1 year ago)
I almost died when I saw it for the first time and noticed Dwarf Renly was riding a fake Loras lmao Joffrey had humor
Jessica (1 year ago)
They were! That whole scene with the dwarves was supposed to be offensive, and it was.
edi (1 year ago)
GoT costumes are awesome (just like in TW3), but what do we wear today? especially for guys, there's not much variations in the cuts and patterns. Even what most girls wear is utterly boring. Worst of all: try to find a decent coat today. In the old days, it provided some mobile shelter against the elements. Today, what you wear makes you completely we and cold and provides very little protection against abrasion etc.
ghosted166 (12 days ago)
This makes me want to learn to sew. You are right. Fashion now is so mass-produced and boring. Even the expensive brands.
Tamerlein Music (1 year ago)
"They die squatting over chamber pots" I just noticed that foreshadowing.

Finn called Natalie Dormer 'Natty' that's so cute ^_^

HowSci (1 year ago)
**The customs are ridiculous. Women's clothes are way too revealing for its time, the armors don't seem to work at all. Also, leather armor doesn't protect people, and I don't understand why it is so prevalent in Game of Thrones.**
shizukagozen777 (1 year ago)
HaoSci Uh... Why don't you just shut your mouth because you're really talking shit. 😒
zeezhz (1 year ago)
+OPrincessXJasmineO Yes. That was my argument. I think you might misread something to feel the need telling me that. With the World of Ice and Fire being stuck in a time period that very roughly equals anything between the 8th century up to the 17th century, so an ahistorical dress isn't really the big argument against the show or the books.
HowSci (1 year ago)
I still hope they follow the same physical laws and chemistry, though -- unless it's magic.
OPrincessXJasmineO (1 year ago)
zeezhz what historical authenticity? It's a fictional universe.
HowSci (1 year ago)
I actually have contentions with the concept of fire-breathing dragons on the physiological and basis. But I won't argue about it, because it is assumed that dragons have some magical elements, and magic has existed in the universe, although most people in Westeros believe it doesn’t exist anymore (or it never existed in the first place) until recently. Since the universe is set in the medieval period (with addition of magic and supernatural forces that are largely separate from most part of everyday life), then we should assume that people would behave as if they were in the historical medieval period. That’s why women’s clothings should not be so revealing. As for the gambesons, they don't seem to protect people from cuts or thrusts in the battle scenes. It may be true that G.R.R. Martin’s novels are pretty internally consistent, but the TV show sure doesn’t seem to be. If it is the fashion of the fictional medieval universe that allows women to wear so revealing clothes, it is certainly not stated as such nor explained.

When she rides Drogon beyond the wall to save Jon and Co.? Yeah. Cannot agree more. When I first saw it, I gasped. It's almost too good to be true.
Blue Mermaid (1 year ago)
Jade Lee Yes it was! It's my favorite piece along with her dragon necklace she wore in the fighting pits in Mereen! Sansa's white wedding dress is my second favorite costume!

Hearing Indira Varma (Ellaria) speaking English with an English accent is so strange. I have always thought that the accent in the series is her own, the same of Pedro Pascal (Oberyn). I thought she is also a Spanish speaker.
