Welcome back to my Fashion Merchandising series! Today I'm covering exactly what a Fashion Merchandising major is. I'm answering questions like, "What is Fashion Merchandising?" "What classes are there in a Fashion Merchandising major?"
I wanted to shed light into the fashion merchandising major because even when I started taking classes four years ago I had no idea what to expect. I understood I was going to be studying about the fashion industry, but exactly what was I going to be doing I had no clue. I talk about the classes in a fashion major and exactly what to expect from fashion classes in college.
I don't go into insane detail about each and every course, or else the video would be 30 minutes long instead of 8. If there is a specific course you would like me to highlight just let me know in the comments below and I'll gladly cover it in another video!
In case you missed it, check out my previous Fashion Merchandising video below where I talk about my background in fashion:

Aasha, great job explaining the major. I am a Fashion Marketing professor at Woodbury University in California. We focus on fashion forecasting, styling for media, fashion entrepreneurship, fashion journalism, trend science, and digital storytelling for fashion brands. I welcome all questions about "Fashion Marketing" which is the business of fashion with a creative touch. LINK: https://woodbury.edu/program/school-of-business/programs/fashion-marketing/
Hey Aasha, really enjoyed your video, really helped me to clear the idea of fashion merchandising! Can I ask which uni or school did you go to for your study, any recommendation if I want to do this major?
Hi Soe, so happy to help. I attended California Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA. I would recommend a state school over a private school, and I loved Cal Poly because they had a great facility, knowledgable professors, and you can choose between Design or Merchandising as your field of study- however you'll get a perfect taste of both no matter what you choose! Let me know if you have any other questions, you can email me here: [email protected]
I think it can be a difficult topic matter as a lot of people question what fashion merchandising actually is. I'm so happy I can make this series and if you have any other questions then let me know and I can put it into one of the videos!
Thank you for that great video. continue and i promise you will succeed. i so your instagram and website and i loved them.
My 2 advice for you. first, you are beautiful, shining and you know will how to get attention. so, try to find digital marketer to help you show more people what you have.
second, if you want to fail do everything. you can not be model, merchandiser, fashion expert, manage your shop and blog and social media accounts and make videos. get a partner that has passion like you but in different area that will make you focuse more in certain areas. sorry for my bad English but i wanted just to support
