417 ratings | 28848 views
This Tie-Dye video shows how I tie a Peace Sign design on a tee shirt. I have lots of how to videos to watch about how to do tie-dye, some tips and tricks on tie-dye and some reveal videos where I open a tie-dye after rinsing it so be sure to take a look around. I am still learning how to fully use YouTube, so I will be making changes as I learn, Thank you for your patience. Also you may see some other videos from my life of magic and wonder, but I will try to keep non tie-dye videos to a minimum, If you would like to see more of my completed work here, you can check out many albums here: Facebook ..... https://www.facebook.com/MrTieDye OR Instagram .... https://www.instagram.com/mrtiedye/ If you would like to buy an awesome tie-dye tee, dress, tapestry and more from my store, you can find it here: https://mrtiedye.myshopify.com/ Ready to Walk on Rainbows?? I tie-dye shoes as well, you can place a custom order from my Etsy Store by clicking here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/MrTieDye One more note, I am learning about Live Video Streaming on YouTube so I hope to start doing those soon and at some point I will set a day of the week for a regular live video stream where you can ask me questions while I work. #MrTieDye #HowToTieDye

Hey Mr Tie Dye! Could you do a tutorial on how to make a deathly hallows symbol from Harry Potter? It looks similar to peace sign but a little different.
MrTieDye (3 months ago)
here is my intro to stitching video ...... https://youtu.be/fIopj6TZkes

MrTieDye I Would be interested in seeing how you stitched it too!
MrTieDye (4 months ago)
I did that design a couple years ago and stitched it... I will play around some and see if I can figure out how to fold it

May I assume you have already soaked the shirt in soda? Are you working with a damp shirt?
MrTieDye (4 months ago)
yes, I usually say that at the beginning .... I have soaked it and spun it out in the washer so it is slightly damp when I fold and dye it

It’s not necessary for you to zoom in so close. The lotus mandala had the same issue. I love what you have presented. I’ve learned so much. Thanks.

I watched part 1 and 2 but now I can’t find number 3 where you reveal the shirt! Am i missing something?? I really want to try this, but I want to see the final result that I’m aiming to achieve...please!

here is a link to the all in one video ...... https://youtu.be/FeP9fOu6NOU .... when I first started doing videos I could not upload anything over 10 minutes so I was doing the 2 or 3 part videos.... but now I am trying to get them all put together with the tying, dyeing and results all in one video and re organize my channel... thank you for your patience.

Hi!! I looove your work!! I've got two questions I hope you can help me with. 1. How do you thicken your Dye? Like video above your black. 2. How to keep the colors vibrant? Instructions with Dye say wash in hot water. Well afterwards color is pale. Grrrr Thanks so much. Keep the video coming!!
MrTieDye (6 months ago)
yes that would be it .... for the bright colors you would need the better dyes .... but if you had fun with the grands, then it was wonderful!! and you are welcome
Kimberly Barnett (6 months ago)
MrTieDye I'm doing it all except the type of Dye. It's just the craft Dye from tulip. I guess I can't except much huh? I've only dyed a few with the grands. Thank you so much for getting back with me.
MrTieDye (6 months ago)
and thank you.... I will be getting back to making videos soon so stay tuned
MrTieDye (6 months ago)
here is a video on how I make the thick black dye for the outlining ..... https://youtu.be/imaTXWdNJTo ..... as for keeping your color bright, there are many factors ..... are you using procion dyes? mixing them strong enough? mixing soda ash one cup to one gallon? letting the items set up for 24-48 hours after you dye them and keeping them damp by either putting in a bag or container with a lid, or covering with plastic? is your batch temp at least 70 degrees F? ..... these are some of the things that determine how much of your color stays

I didn't even know this was possible! How fun.

Do you fold the shirt when it's a bit wet? I have problems with the folding ^^' and that my shirts wash out :(
MrTieDye (6 months ago)
I am not familiar with those kinds of dyes .... so you can follow my tying and folding videos, but when it come to the dye and mixing, batching and washing ... I would follow the instructions and maybe do a web search for the dye and see what other info you can find for simplicol dyes .... sorry I cannot be of more help for this
Nessi seamonster (6 months ago)
MrTieDye oh ok. They are called simplicol.
MrTieDye (6 months ago)
soda ash is part of the process for Procion dyes, it is what causes the dye to bond with the cotton fibers ... so there is no vinegar required ..... what is the name of the dyes you are using?? and no worries about reply.... I do not always get in here to answer right away
Nessi seamonster (6 months ago)
MrTieDye sorry for the late reply. I never tried soda ash yet ^^ and I don't know if these are procion colours... o.O it's a powder that you mix with (warm) water. Hm I put them in the sun so they'll dry faster. Guess I put it in a bag the next time. Do you put thr shirts in vinegar/water or so after you washed them out? Thank you so much!
MrTieDye (6 months ago)
yes, I soak in soda ash for 20 minutes and then spin out the excess in my washer which leaves them just slightly damp, great for folding as the folds tend to hold themselves in place a bit ...... and then great for dyeing slightly damp also ...... as for keeping more of the colors in the tee..... are you using procion dyes? mixing them strong enough? mixing soda ash one cup to one gallon? letting the items set up for 24-48 hours after you dye them and keeping them damp by either putting in a bag or container with a lid, or covering with plastic? is your batch temp at least 70 degrees F? ..... these are some of the things that determine how much of your color stays
