In this video, Megan Collins of Style Girlfriend shares 7 shopping tips for shorter guys. Over 1/3 of the male population stands 5’8” or under (that’s 30 million guys in the U.S. alone!), but most clothes from major retailers are designed for men of average or taller-than-average height.
As our pal Brock McGoff over on The Modest Man (themodestman.com) notes, “Every short man has felt underserved and ignored by major retailers at some point in his life.”
Not to worry, though! Enter: Peter Manning, a NYC-based retailer creating classic clothing for not-so-tall guys. In this video, Megan and the brand's founder, Peter Manning, share 7 style and shopping tips for guys 5'8" and under.
Below are the 7 tips covered in the video:
1. Skip the Boys’ Department
2. Know your Measurements
3. Focus on Fit
4. Know the Limits of Tailoring
5. Think Small
6. Keep it Simple
7. Don’t Forget about Good Grooming!
Follow these tips, and you’ll immediately see noticeable improvements in your not-so-tall style.

I’m 5’1 so finding clothes is a bit hard. Specially for fall and winter. The biggest problem I have is finding the right fit of jackets and formal and semi formal shoes My feet is only 6.5 and mostly shoes start at 7. So even if I don’t want to I still buy shoes with size 7. Shopping from kids department is a bit embarrassing in a way that when you walking around you don’t want to be seen looking exactly like a kid who pass you by. Or be recognized by other adults wearing the same thing as their little brother or relatives look like. For pant I always go for Uniqlo because they do free alterations which is a big help for me. If you guys know any brands that is good for mostly shorter guys please hook me up would really appreciate it.. thanks
