It uses 12c Release 2 Standard Edition, but the same steps can be followed for installing Oracle 12c Enterprise Edition. The steps involved are: 1. Visit www.oracle.com and go to Downloads - Database - Oracle Database 2. Log in with your Oracle account (or create one) and download the ZIP file 3. Extract the ZIP file 4. Run setup.exe as an administrator 5. Follow the steps in the installer 6. Log in to the database using SQL*Plus to check it has installed correctly For more information on Oracle SQL, visit my website at www.databasestar.com. Can you add a tutorial on how to access the hr database in 12c?
nrusimha11 (30 days ago)
+Database Star Thank you! The hr database is in oracle\product\12.2.0\dbhome_1\demo\schema folder.
Database Star (30 days ago)
Sure, I can do that. I believe it's a separate database but I'll create a video on that.

Arjun M (1 month ago)
issue resolved now. for me it was saying operating system not supported for installation, when i check the details it mentioned a special character "_" is not accepted on hostname, later i change the host name and then it was running fine.

It says Windows 10 is not supported when you are installing Oracle 12c? Is this during installation or while you run it? What's the full error message?

Can I install 12c server on Windows 10 and will I able to connect client with it
Imran Mattu (3 months ago)
+Database Star do I need a shared folder or something like that so that other side of client will be connected. Actually my boss told me install oracle server and connect the client with them so that the students can practice on the client pc in the computer lab. That's what I want to do. Please help
Database Star (3 months ago)
Yes, this video will show you how to install 12c on Windows 10. You can use Oracle SQL Developer to connect to it, or SQLPlus, or any other IDE.

Is this installation windows 10 home or PRO?
Database Star (3 months ago)
This was on Windows 10 Home, but I imagine it's similar to Windows 10 Pro.

My installer aborts on the screen where it is checking prerequisites and it doesn't give me any error messages. Any ideas?
Database Star (7 months ago)
Thanks Nolan for the update. I haven't seen that before but good to know you got it working (even though it sounds like it was a lot of work)
Nolan Lefler (8 months ago)
I had to finally restore my computer to factory conditions, then run all Windows updates. Then I uninstalled anti-virus and stopped Windows Defender. Then I had to go into msconfig.exe and disable all startup services and turn off all non-Windows services. I was finally able to get the install to work.

This is a nicely done video, however it's the next step that is really kicking my behind... Nothing I have found online or in my books seems to work. When I go into SQL developer and try to connect a database I get test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
Database Star (7 months ago)
Hi Mark, sorry for the late response. Glad you got it working. It doesn't have the HR schema by default, but I'll have a video soon on downloading this and setting it up.
Mark Colwell (11 months ago)
I finally managed to get it working by selecting the Local\Bequeath option under Connection Type however it doesn't have the HR schema in it I need.
Satyaki Bose (11 months ago)

Rahul Bhosale (1 year ago)
During installation while files are being extracted installation process and the installation window shuts down automatically. could you please help me out here
abdul hakkim (5 months ago)
what is your system RAM, i found the same issue when i had only 4gb ram. But it was successfully installed when i tried with high configuration.
Nolan Lefler (8 months ago)
I've had similar issue. Were you able to find a solution? I've tried disabling anti-virus and firewall and still have no results.
Rahul Bhosale (11 months ago)
yeah, i am running Windows 10. No error message is being popped up. During the installation process, it checks for environment path and during this check the installation process exits without any prompt.
Database Star (1 year ago)
Hmm.. Are you running Windows 10? Is there any error message that is shown when this happens? Does it happen every time?
